MYSA Announces Plans to Construct New SoccerPlex Concession

In 2002, Mountain Top Youth Soccer Association acquired their new 50-acre site on Church Road.  Over the next 7 years, they held fundraisers, applied for grants, interviewed contractors, and completed construction of four full-size soccer fields, complete with irrigation, along with a 200 car parking area, and a pair of on-site stormwater management basins.

Now MYSA plans to put the finishing touches on the SoccerPlex with a brand new Concession Building.  Funded in part by the F.M. Kirby Foundation, the new building will house vehicles and equipment (including goals, nets, balls, corner flags, and all the other paraphernalia needed to run a 700+ member soccer club) along with a picnic pavillion and a take-out food service for families and players attending games and tournaments at the venue.

Architectural plans for the new building were completed last month, and bids for the new construction will be sought between now and early September.  Construction is expected to begin the Spring of 2014.

The MYSA SoccerPlex features some of the finest soccer fields in Luzerne County, and was made possible by grants from DCNR, DEP, Luzerne County, and a host of local sponsors like Burger King, PNC Bank, Ziegler Orthodontics, Lewith & Freeman, Pennstar Bank, Whitewater Challengers, First Federal Bank, the Luzerne Foundation, US Soccer Foundation, Century 21, Welcome Wagon, Mountain Top Rotary, MacDonald Foundation, Pepsico, A&R Building Supply, and countless Mountain Top families and individuals.   MYSA extends a hearty thank you to all who have helped move this project forward over the past decade.
