Max E. Cannon Jr. Selected To Umpire 2008 Western Regional Little League Baseball Tournament

Local Little League Umpire , Max E. Cannon Jr. , has been selected as a Volunteer Umpire for the 2008 Little League Baseball Western Regional Tournament. The Tournament will run from August 1 - 10 , 2008.
Max was recommended to umpire at this level by the Montana District 2 Administrator , Renny Malach. Max was then selected and approved by Regional Staff Members including Bill Carter , Western Region Umpire - In - Chief and Jim Gerstenslager , Western Regional Director.
"This is a great opportunity to recognize Max in a special way for the many years he has volunteered for the Little League program and the District," Renny Malach said.
The Tournament is held in San Bernardino, California and comprises 11 states.
The 12 teams, ( California is divided into Northern and Southern California ), are divided into 2 Divisions ; Northwest and West. The eventual winners of these 2 Divisions go on to the Little League World Series in Williamsport , Pennsylvania.

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Rawlings Junior Batting Helmets
Units: About 2,300
Importer: Rawlings Sporting Goods Co. Inc., of St. Louis, Mo.
Hazard: Surface paint on the helmets contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves junior batting helmets with model number CFHLJR. The helmets come in yellow and orange with black accents. The model number can be found on the rear of the helmet.
Sold by: Sporting goods retailers nationwide from July 2007 through November 2007 for about $40.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact either the retailer where the product was purchased or Rawlings for a free replacement product.

The 2008 Volunteer Forms for Little League Baseball / Softball are now available. Please click on the "Handouts" link on the Menu, or you may click on the link provided at the bottom of this message. You may Download a copy of the form and fill it out or you can fill it out online and then print it out.
A new Volunteer form must be filled out for each Calendar Season. It is required that a copy OF VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO IDENTIFICATION MUST BE ATTACHED TO COMPLETE THIS APPLICATION.

"LEAGUE - AGE" CHARTS AVAILABLE
Hello Folks:
Are you not quite sure what your child's "League Age" is ? It may be that your child is 10 years old right now , but he / she may have a "League - Age" of 11. It is very important that the "League - Age" is determined properly, so that the child is placed in the proper Division / Level of Play.
To find out your child's "League - Age" , simply go to the "Handouts" link on the Menu and click on the corresponding chart. It is available in a Matrix design or a Text design. It will be up to you to determine which you choose, but both are easy to read and understand.

NEW LOOKS FOR THE UPCOMING 2008 SEASON !!!
Hello Folks:
Both the Mt. Sentinel and Missoula Southside Little League Programs wish all of you a very Festive , Joyous and Happy Holidays for 2007 and wish that it extends into the 2008 New Year.
We , the Leagues , hope that the upcoming year will be full of creating many Happy Memories.
The Website has a new look and you will now have the opportunity to REGISTER ONLINE for the 2008 season. We will still be having the traditional sign-up sessions , and those dates will be posted here , as well as in the Missoulian and fliers will go out to all of the schools and given to your children.
The Website is a great tool for you the parents , as well as the League Administrators etc. Please feel free to contact us at any time , with any question. The Little League Season is always a "work in progress" and we appreciate any and all comments.
Monthly General Meetings are regularly scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of each month and are open to the General Public. Please feel free to attend and "Have A Voice "! With that said , the next scheduled General Meeting is Dec. 12th , 2007 @ 7:00 p.m. @ Katie O'Keefe's. See Ya There !!

UMPIRE - IN - CHIEF NEEDED FOR 2008 SEASON
Hello Folks:
The 2008 season is coming up and we all know that the kids will all get signed up and get ready to play. But before the first pitch can be thrown , we need to hear " Play Ball !"
The Umpire is a very important part of the game and although it is not always easy , it can be alot of fun.
Mt. Sentinel and Missoula Southside Little League are looking for an Adult to take the Umpire-In-Chief position for the 2008 season.
