The Start of Something Special !
The Day has finally arrived. Opening Day. The start of another season for the Mesquite Soccer Association. The start of something really special. The first game EVER for the Purple Crush Soccer Club.
The sidelines were packed with soccer fans. Players, coaches, parents, family and friends. They were all here to enjoy this wonderful day. A WARM and wonderful day.
The Purple Crush sent Taylor to the middle of the field with the Coaches for the opening coin toss. But where is the coin? The Ref had lost her coin! Luckily Coach Lloyd saved the day by pulling a shiny new quarter out of his pocket. "Tails! Tails!Tails!" Taylor squealed while the coin was spinning in the air. It's Tails !!! A good start. The Purple Crush would defend the goal with the sun to their back and the Hot Shots would kick-off.
The Hot Shots got off to a quick start and scored in the opening minute. Uh-Oh. Not a good start. After some minor adjustments to the lineup things changed in a hurry. The Purple Crush turned into a scoring machine. The Hot Shots are a very very good team and played a great game. But on this day the Purple Crush would prove to be a worthy opponent. The Purple Crush played an AWESOME game.
Officially scores are not kept. After all, there are no goalies and this is there "first" year of soccer. But some of these girls have played Instructional and Indoor for Coach Rick for as long as 2 years before this season. And it shows. The Purple Crush are going to be a very good team this season.
Unofficially the teams scored 31 goals. That is alot of goals. For both teams. A good start. A great start. A fun start.
The start of something really special.

Everyone Likes Soccer
It's official - EVERYONE likes soccer! A recent online poll showed that an amazing 100% of the people surveyed said that they like soccer. The results should not come as a surprise considering soccer is the largest recreational sport in the area.
"I like soccer alot" a soccer dad was quoted as saying. "Me too" replied one little girl who was practicing for the upcoming season. One teenager was quoted as saying "I like, you know, really really like, you know like soccer!"
With responses like these there is no doubt that soccer will continue to be the the most popular sport for many years to come.
The survey was taken on the Purple Crush website during the month of April 2007 and has a +/- margin of error of 0%.
