IMPORTANT REGISTRATION MESSAGE
MRLL,
Little League age guidelines for baseball and TBall divisions use April 30th of each calendar year as the league eligible date for a player’s league age. For example, a baseball player who turns 10 on or before April 30th 2010 are considered league age 10 this coming 2010 spring season.
Little League age guidelines for softball divisions use December 31st of the previous calendar year as the league eligible date for a player’s league age. For example, a softball player who turns 10 on or before December 31st 2009 are considered league age 10 this coming 2010 spring season.
Little League Rules clearly state that a player must be a minimum league age of 5 years old before being eligible to play T-Ball.
Little League Rules also state that players must be a minimum league age 6, providing the player has played a minimum of one year of T Ball, to be able to play in the Colonial Division. MRLL guidelines state a minimum league age 8 to play in the Minors Division, and a minimum league age 10 to play in the Majors Division.
Any violation of such rules or guidelines could seriously jeopardize the MRLL Charter and Insurance coverage. It has been revealed that in isolated situations some birthdates have been misrepresented by individuals to bypass the system and get their child the chance to play ‘up’ in a higher division than the system allows. Therefore for everyone’s protection we would like to take this opportunity to notify everyone of some new procedures and processes that will take place this year.
1) All 5 year olds, all 6 year olds, and all first time players in MRLL will be required to send in a copy of their birth certificate by January 31, 2010 to be eligible to participate in the Spring 2010 season.
Please send birth certificate copy to:
MRLL
PO Box 66
Perrineville, NJ, 08535
2) This year the league will be cross referencing past years registration information with 2010 registrations to validate that the information provided is accurate.
If you are aware of any errors in reporting previous league age information, please notify us of this error in advance of our cross referencing in order to not jeopardize this year’s player eligibility.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

2010 Fund Raising Message
For the 2010 season, the Millstone-Roosevelt Little League will be trying out several new ideas as a means to improve our league and better manage our operating costs. Over the past several years we have heard both positive and negative feedback with regard to the fundraising kits and have made the decision to implement a new fundraising concept that provides each family with a means to recover the up-front fees. For the upcoming season we will be instituting a Raffle Book Fee in lieu of our traditional fundraising fee. Each family will be required at time of registration to pre-purchase one (1) 10 ticket raffle book at a cost of $100 ($10 per ticket). As the owner of this book each family has the option to either keep the tickets or sell them at $10 per ticket. The prizes are still to be determined but we fully anticipate that they will be very desirable and of significant value. The raffle will be drawn at annual Baseball Social Event (Comedy Night). We will also be selling additional raffle tickets and tickets for our annual Lakewood Blue Claws event at our opening day ceremonies which will be reinstated this season. If you have any questions regarding the Raffle Book fee, please contact the MRLL Fundraising Director Chris Blotto at cblotto@gmail.com.

MRLL Background Check Procedures for 2010 Spring Seasons
In the past, MRLL background checks for League volunteers have been conducted via fingerprinting services provided by the NJ State Police – in conjunction with the Millstone Township Recreation Department. As the NJ State Police have discontinued this service, begining last year in 2009 and continuing for the 2010 Spring Season the following background check procedure is required.
1. For those applicants who have NOT had a fingerprint background check through either MRLL or Millstone Recreation, on or after December 1, 2005, you will be required to use the Millstone Recreation background check process through the Sagem Morpho program. This process and details can be found on the Millstone Township web-site at http://www.millstone.nj.us/, within the Recreation Department section. Costs associated are the responsibility of the applicant.
2. For those applicants who HAVE had a background check through either MRLL or Millstone Recreation, on or after December 1, 2005, we will be utilizing the Little League approved and recommended ChoicePoint System owned and operated by the Lexis/Nexis Company. This is an internet based system which utilizes information from the Little League Volunteer application. The information will be entered by League officials into the system and a report will be issued back to the League. No fingerprinting is necessary or utilized. No further action by the applicant is necessary unless contacted by the League. Costs associated are minimal and will be paid for by MRLL.
Details on the ChoicePoint System can be found at http://littleleague.choicepoint.com/.
Please note: The ChoicePoint system searches various national and state registries. If a criminal record is identified for an applicant, it will be reported to the League. At the same time, the applicant will receive an e-mail of this report. A few states do a name-only search, thus the occurrence of a mistaken match (name only) can happen. If this occurs the League will contact you with any next steps required.
Thank you,
