Welcome to Moorpark Little League 2010

We’re preparing for another fantastic year of baseball! Our registration for our 2010 Spring Season is now open.  Registration includes a hat, jersey and picture, but not pants, socks, or belt. Please register online - visit our website (www.moorparkll.com) and follow the registration link at the top of the welcome page.  You can also pickup registration packets at Palanis, Dick’s Sporting Goods, West Coast Pizza and the Dugout. Please note, our fees did go up this year - about 10% (we did not raise rates last year).

Please understand, our largest single expense in the budget that we continue to struggle with year after year is maintenance and repair on the fields. We spend thousands of dollars annually just to maintain fields – since the schools allow us the privilege to use the fields with no lease; we pay for the care and upkeep, year round. We ask for your continued support to volunteer time and resources to help us reduce the cost of this upkeep…

Little League has a new rule that requires the use of at least ONE ADULT UMPIRE in every game.  We are providing an incentive to encourage more adult umpire volunteers with a $100 rebate on registration fees, AFTER they participate in required trainings and do a minimum of 8 "plate" assignments. We intend to enforce rigorously the policy of ANY ADULT OR COACH WHO ARGUES WITH ANY UMPIRE WILL BE EJECTED INSTANTLY, and may face other penalties, including suspension (refer to disciplinary committee).

We are again requiring that all families volunteer for at least one position or event for the season. Also, an adult from every family in our league is expected to volunteer at least ONE shift in the Snack Bar. We will be tracking participation – families that do not participate will affect their player’s eligibility for post season.

Once again we have an early registration discount if you sign up before December 31.  After January 31, 2010 we cannot guarantee placement on a team. We will form a waiting list and if enough coaches can be found, your child will be placed on a team.  We want as many children playing baseball as possible.

Moorpark Little League is strongly committed to our EVERYONE PLAYS policy. If registration fees present a hardship, please contact our Registrar, Eric Peoples, at info@moorparkll.com. Limited scholarships available.

As always, we need top quality managers.  No single person has as much impact on the experience for both the player and parents as the manager. If we are unable to fill a position, twelve kids can’t play baseball.  If you are interested in teaching teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship, managing a team can be a very rewarding experience. Manager applications are available on our website – must be received to our PO Box by 12/15/09.

Our league is open to kids age 5-16.  Player evaluations/ tryouts are mandatory for all players Farm division and above.  Every player must attend ONE of the scheduled tryout sessions.  Players in T-Ball & Coach Pitch divisions will be placed on a team and contacted by a coach by mid February.  Tryouts are scheduled for Jan 23rd and 24th.  Jan 30th and 31st are rain out dates, only.  Check our website or hotline for times and updates.

One final note: Please remember we play as guests on the Chaparral Middle School fields and must abide by their rules. As such, NO DOGS ALLOWED, NO SKATEBOARDS or SCOOTERS, and NO SMOKING (all these pose potential health risks). Please respect these rules, they will be enforced for your protection.

It’s going to be an exciting season of baseball. Thank you for joining us.

Gary Kelman, President and the Board of Directors, Moorpark Little League
