Mount Anthony Patriots: 2012/2013 Season: Hale named to All-American squad
Hale named to All-American squad
Mount Anthony Union High School rising junior Rachel Hale was named to the first team of the 12th Annual ASICS Girls High School All-Americans.
Only 14 wrestlers nationwide earn the first-team All-American honor and only 72 total are named to the list.
According to USA Wrestling, athletes are chosen based on achievement and ability. In February, Hale became the first female to win two state championships. She was named to the third team last year.
"There's an unbelievable amount of talent on that list," said MAU coach Scott Legacy. "We're excited to put Bennington on the map at that level."
Hale was invited to train for two weeks at the USOC training facility in Colorado Springs, Colo., with other school-age wrestlers along with Olympians heading to London for the Games.
At the end of the training, Hale competed in the pre-junior tournament at the Canada Cup in Guelph, Ontario, this past weekend, finishing second in the 49kg (108 lb) class. Representing Team USA, Hale was defeated in the final by Canada's Josee Trembley.
