Mustangs clinch FIRST place going into playoffs ...

Fri & Sat, Feb. 10 & 11 - We're UP ... then we're DOWN

Mustangs wrapped up their regular season this weekend with a convincing 10-4 win vs. Carman on Friday night followed by a disappointing 4-2 loss to Portage on Saturday.  The good news is that first place is ours to claim with the added bonus of having home ice advantage as we face Winkler in the first round.  Look forward to seeing you on Valentine's Day in N.Dame at 7:30.  Coach says bring a date to the game and come cheer on the Mustangs! :)

Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 - Mustangs ACE a great game!

Whatever pre-game rituals were carried out are sure to be repeated this upcoming Friday as Mustangs fled out of the gates as soon as the puck dropped.  1-0 after one soon exploded into 4-0 after two and capped at 6-1 with only 11 seconds left in the game ... a well played game that would end in 46-21 shots on goal in favor of the Mustangs.  Dangle, snipe and celly.  That was the order of the night!  Look forward to taking on the Carman Cougars in Carman on Friday Feb. 10 at 7:30 pm.

Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 - weeeeeee're baaaaaaaack!

In a close-knit game with shots pretty well even at 35-34, the Mustangs were happy to wrap their Friday night game in Manitou in 60 minutes.  The depth of the team was obvious with the mixed bag of goal scorers and assists on the game sheet.  Only 3 more games to wrap the season up with the next Mustang action on home turf once again on Feb. 6, 2012 at 7:30 in Swan Lake vs. Miller Aces from Altona.

Wednesday, Feb 1, 2012 - "here we go again ... more OT!"

As if the Mustangs did not have enough games scheduled in a week (five in seven-day stretch!) ... this would be the third to go into overtime.   The game story would go down in the books as trailing 2-1 after one, tied after second and third.   Although a well battled game with shots on goal tallying 56-33 in favor of the Mustangs, the shootout battle would mark Portage's victory.  A classy game was played by both teams.  Look forward to facing Pembina in Manitou on Feb. 3, 2012 at 7:30.  Come cheer MUSTANGS on!

Monday, Jan 30, 2012 - "just a bad day in the office"

Well if a mid-January game vs. GVC went down in the books as the "game that never ended", the Mustangs' game in Morden on January 30 would go down as "just a bad day in the office".  Mustangs faced many challenges in a game that would finish in an 8-4 loss.  In fact, there were many "blades on the ice" that displayed less then their finest moments.  End of story.   The focus resumes as we face Portage (PCI) who has anxiously been awaiting to take on the Stangs.  See you February 1st in Swan Lake at 7:30 pm.

Sunday, Jan 29, 2012

Congratulations to Justin Comte, Jesse Conrad, Colin Grenier, Brett Maloney, Jeremie Rondeau and Cody Turnbull who were named Zone 4 All-Stars.  Come suppport the Zone IV All-Star Game to be held Sunday, January 29th at the Carman Arena.  Skills 1:45 PM--Game 3:15 PM.  Congrats also to Mustangs Coaching Staff who were named as coaching staff for this event.

Friday, Jan 27, 2012 - Mustangs Coach loses more hair

Mustangs were back in N.Dame to take on the Miller Aces -- their last head to head in Altona had resulted in an overtime win for the Stangs ... and the fans were treated to much of the same nail biting action this evening.  Regulation time ended with a 3-3 tie. Although OT did not finish the game off, the Mustangs' 2 goals in the 3-man-shootout secured the win.

Thursday, Jan 26, 2012 - Mustangs allow Morris to sneak by

It was a mild winter evening when the Mustangs hosted the Morris Mavericks for a very close battle.  The two teams took turns exchanging goals to reach the second period at a 2-2 tie ... followed by a 3-3 tie after three periods.  It was brief overtime period when the Mavericks were awarded a courtesy penalty shot which clinched it for the visiting team.  A slight setback but not too much damage as the Mustangs maintain first place in the league.  Next local game action:  Jan 27 @ 7:30 pm in N.Dame vs Altona.

Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 - Mustangs continue Winning Ways

Team Mustangs got off to a strong start with two quick goals in the first period but soon realized the force they were against when Altona scored late in the first and twice in the second leaving the Stangs trailing 3-2 after two.    The Mustangs sank their spurs late in the third on a powerplay goal that put them back in the game.  But regulation time could not settle the score, throwing both teams back into battle into overtime.  It took but a brief 19 seconds for the Mustangs to take the reigns and secure their 9 game winning streak.  Today's Life Lesson:  Mustangs need to play a solid 60 minutes vs. 10 in the first and 10 in the third to come out with a solid win. But a W is a W.  Next action: January 26 and 27 at 7:30 pm vs. Morris and Altona respectively - both games in N.Dame:  COME SUPPORT TEAM MUSTANGS!

Wednesay, Jan 18, 2012 - Mustangs Madness continues with 8 game winning streak

Although the end result was much of the same for the Mustangs - Winkler GVC Zodiacs match-up in Swan Lake on Wednesday night, the approx. 100 people who braved the -27 C weather were kept on their toes throughout the first period which ended 3-1 in favor of the home team.   The next period saw a cluster of penalties by both teams which kept the goal scorers at bay, marking a more comfortable 5-1 lead after two.   However,  the game took a final turn in the third as the effect of playing their third game in three nights for the Zodiacs took its toll wrapping it up at 7-2.  Although a welcome W once again, Coach Darren cautions that the Mustangs have a tough stretch ahead.  The team will need to rest up and play a very disciplined game as they face Altona on Friday, January 20, 2012.

Friday, Jan 13, 2012

Well ... the January 13 game vs. GVC will go down in our memories as "the game that never ended" ... Although a 4-1 status after one, a 5-1 mid game mark and a 7-2 finish does not sound too bad ... most who were there would be quick to add that the 28 penalties plaqued the game and took any flow that might have been.  Mustangs were happy to mark a W in the books and hope for a better match when they meet GVC again in Swan Lake on January 18.

Tuesday Dec 6, 2011

If you happen to be at Mustang Game against Carman last night in Swan Lake you got to see a very good game. Carman got on the score board first at 5:21 left in the first.  The Mustangs finally answered back at 17:14 in the 2nd. Then the Mustangs pulled ahead with thier 2nd goal at 16:24 in the 3rd. Carman tied it up with 9:53 in the 3rd. The Mustangs pulled ahead again with goals at 6:37 and at 5:59. Carman pulled thier goalie and rallied to score a goal at 3:34 left in the 3rd. It wasn't enough as the Mustangs won with a score of 4-3. Way to Go Boys!

Mon Dec 5, 2011

Saturday Nov 26, 2011

Mustangs pulled off another win last night in Swan Lake Arena where they took on the Morden Thunder. It was no cake walk. The boys had to battle to the very end for a 3-2 win. In the first 2 periods the Mustangs seemed to be scrambling, but got the job done. In the third it was like a whole different team. They came out calm and in control. They kept the puck in Morden's end majority of the time. Capitalized on their speed and passing.

Good Job Boys, Keep up the good work!

Friday Nov 25, 2011

Wed the boys travelled to Morris to take on the Mavericks. It was a hard fought game, unfortunately the Mustangs couldn't stay out of the sin bin and the Mavericks capitalized on several power play goals to beat the Mustangs 5-4.  The Mustangs did their best with  2 shorthanded goals back to back.  You'll get them next time boys.

Tonight the Mustangs will take on the Morden thunder when they meet up with them  in Swan Lake at 7:30. Hope to see you there.!

Congratulations Mustangs and a job well done!!

Saturday Nov 5, 2011

The Mustang's Home Opener took place in the Notre Dame Arena against the Pembina Tigers. As the final game of a day dedicated to Matt Vigier,  it began with the Vigier brothers dropping the puck at center ice. The first period saw both teams come out onto the ice with a lot of energy, and the score was a close 2-1 as the teams took their first break. The Mustangs showed a lot of endurance in the second after losing Captain Colin from the line up, wasting away Pembina's 5 on 3 advantage. They made a few really nice connections, and the second period ended with the Mustangs in the lead 7-2. The third period included a hard fought battle right to the end, with each team marking the scoreboard one more time before the final buzzer sounded. The final score was 8-3, and the game proved once again that the Mustangs are a hard working team who stick up for each other.

Friday October 28th

The Mustangs traveled to Winkler for their first league game of the year on Friday, October 28th, 2011. There they were met by a team who was every bit their rival and after the first period, the score remained 0-0. Both teams came out in the second period with a lot of speed; the Zodiacs answered the first Mustangs goals with one goal of their own. However, the Mustangs could not be contained; 5-2 lit up the scoreboard at the end of the second period. The Mustangs came with energy and worked as a team; they were not to be tamed. In the third period, 6 more unanswered goals saw the back of the Zodiac's net before the final whistle blew. The final score was 11-2 for the Mustangs.

Good Luck! Go Mustangs!
