 Babe Ruth Bat Rule Change

Babe Ruth is adopting a new bat restriction for 13-15 year old divisions. Here's the new rule:

The Bat (13-15 Division) – The Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15 Division has adopted standards for metal bats that limit the diameter of a bat to 2 5/8". Wood bats conforming to the dimensions described in Official Baseball Rule 1.10 are approved for use in Babe Ruth League.

The Official Baseball Rule specifies that a bat can be up to 2 3/4" diameter, and Babe Ruth has always allowed that diameter for any material. Now, wood can be that big, but metal must be 2 5/8".

It seems that most of the high-end expensive bats are the acceptable 2 5/8" diameter. The problem is that there are some apparent very good "deals" on 2 3/4" bats - on sale for half the normal price. Please pay very close attention to the size of the bat if you are purchasing one. Be aware that if you are looking at either Big Boy or Senior League bats that they might not be the required 2 5/8" diameter.
