Battle on Tobacco Road Results
The Predators opened play Saturday afternoon at NE Guilford HS against the Charlotte Suns. The Predators used a full court press to create turnover and jump out to a big lead early. The Suns continued to battle and cut the lead to 12 at halftime, 36-24. After cutting the lead to 5 in the second half, the Predators went on another strong run to pull away for a 68-54 victory. Philip Hux led the Predators with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Dylan Maloney added 18 points and 9 rebounds. Jalonde Willis ran the show from the point knocking down 17 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
Game 2 was against the defending state champion Gaters Select who were coming off a 50 point victory in their previous game. This didn’t intimidate the Predators as they battled the hot shooting team from Greensboro to a 34-34 tie. The second half was more of the same with both team trading big buckets throughout the half. The game was tied at 65 when the Gaters hit a 3 pointer with 4 seconds remaining to take the lead. The Predators were able to get off a contested 3 pointer at the buzzer that missed wide and the Gaters escaped with a 68-65 victory. Chris Timmins led the Predators with 16 points. Hux added 15 and Willis 13.
The final game was Saturday night against the Triad Titans at the Sportsplex. After much confusion about whom the opponent would be or what court the game would be played on, the 7:10 scheduled tip took place closer to 9:00. The Predators came out flat after their game with the Gaters and the Titans took an early lead. Hux picked up two early fouls and had to come out of the game. He picked up his third after going back in only to find out that the official scorer had added a phantom fourth foul somewhere along the way. This seemed to take a little life out of the boys from Mooresville as they watched a 10 point deficit at halftime quickly expand to 20. However, the Predators weren’t done and they battled their way back into the game only to fall just short, 77-72. The game was filled with whistles as Hux, Willis, and Rob McGee all fouled out. Carrying 4 fouls and a back injury most of the game, Hux led the way with 31 points. Maloney added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Willis added 7 points and 6 rebounds and James Cloud had 7 points. With all the foul trouble, the guys who came off the bench did an outstanding job to keep the Predators in the game.
The Predators played ball this weekend the way Predator teams have always played in the past. They were Relentess, Intense, and Passionate throughout the tournament. The coaching staff is very pleased with the effort. We will continue to work hard in practice and good things will come.

PREDATORS WIN OPENER
The Predators opened the season Friday night at Thomasville Middle School against the Yadkin Heat. Although the Predators played well in the first half, they were ice cold from the field. The Heat took a 24-10 lead at halftime. The second half was a different story. The Predators came out in a full court man to man press that caused many turnonvers and spearheaded a 52-38 come from behind victory. Jalonde Willis and Germaine Leach led the scoring with 10 points each but it was a total team effort in the victory. The Predators will face the Watauga Storm Saturday at 1:30.

Charlotte 49ers Guard Attends Predators Practice
UNC Charlotte guard, Ian Andersen, stopped by the Predators practice last night and left a lasting impression. Ian began the night talking to the players about the importance of academics and the dangers of drugs and alcohol. He then put the team thru a series of 49ers drills and ended the practice participating in a 5 on 5 scrimmage. Ian motivated the players to believe that they can achieve any goal they set for themselves. He also emphasized the importance of hard work and to push themselves further than they ever imagined. The Predator organization is extremely grateful to Ian for taking time out during exam week to provide valuable insight and motivation to our team. Thanks Ian!!!!!!

PREDATORS WIN BATTLE ON TOBACCO ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP
The Predators went to Greensboro this weekend and went undefeated in route to the Battle on Tobacco Road Championship. Game 1 was Saturday morning against the Rockingham County Lightning. Mooresville fell behind 9-2 early but then cruised to a 54-44 victory. Philip Hux led the way with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Orion Adams had 12 points and Chris Timmins had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Game 2 was Saturday afternoon against the Triad Panthers. The Predators trailed by 9 at halftime and never took the lead until the last minute of the game. With Mooresville leading 52-50 with 10 seconds remaining, the Panthers rebounded a missed free throw and drove down the court looking to tie or win the game with a 3 pointer. The Panther player drove from the left wing to the top of the key and put up a jumper with 1 second remaining but Germaine Leach came from the lane to block the shot and preserve the victory. Hux led the way with 16 points. Adams had 14 and Leach had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Jalonde Willis had 6 points and 8 assists. Game 3 was Sunday morning against the Carolina Cobra All Stars. Mooresville pulled out to an early lead and never trailed in route to a 49-37 win. Adams led the way with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Hux added 10 points. Mooresville cranked it up in the second half with their half court trap causing numerous turnovers and fast break points in route to a 62-34 victory. Adams led the way with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Hux added 12 points and Leach had 8 points and 12 rebounds. The Championship was a total team effort and the result of lots of hard work from the players mentioned above along with Demarion Sherrill, Rob McGee, Dillon Wemyss, Thomas Jackson, Eric Hinceman and James Cloud.
