Hi All, As you may be aware last, May saw the holding of the MBSCs AGM and election of the new committee for the upcoming 2009-10 season. The following committee members were elected: President Jason Mills Returning Snr. Vice President Fiona Heath New Secretary Rebecca Cavill New Treasurer Brad Rath Returning Asst Treasurer Sue Rath New Jnr. Vice President David Hine New Registrar Fiona Heath Returning Umpires Coord. Brad Alcorn Returning Seniors Coord. Jason Mills Returning Uniform Officer Melissa Merriman Returning Equipment Officer Geoff Seis - New Grants Coord. Fiona Heath Returning Canteen Manager Bev Reid Returning Positions that have not been filled at this point include: Grounds Coordinator Fundraising Coordinator After the AGM we moved into the Monthly meeting and discussed the following points: The BDBA Executive was present to speak to the members of Moorebank. They gave us a 20min update of some of their plans for the future. BDBA (Bankstown) are holding a forum night on Monday the 18th of May to discuss the future of the association and to get feedback from its members. BDBA are inviting Cumberland clubs to play in the BDBA comp and to trial for the BDBA Rep teams. BDBA rep trials start this Sunday 17th May at Riverside at 2:30pm MBL (Macarthur) passed a motion to allow the Under 16s comp to become an Under 17s comp. MBL passed a motion to play Zooka in the Under 9s comp. If it is a combined 8s 9s comp it will be 50% tball 50% Zooka. MBL rep trials start Sunday the 24th May at Gilchrist from 2:00pm The club held a vote to decide whether or not to move our junior teams from the BDBA comp to the MBL comp. The vote was decided 12-11 to stay with the BDBA. A majority of the discussions that took place was regarding the concerns of going to Macarthur too soon after the release of the new Macarthur business plan. The feeling in the room was that we should wait 12 months to see how their business plan works out, and if successful, then the club could move. The previous executive, and the new executive had already discussed the possibility of a very close 50/50 vote. We looked into options in this event. Baseball NSW has given us advice, and will be sending this to me in writing this week, that they are happy for the Moorebank club to exercise dual affiliation. Meaning that if we have teams that want to play under a BDBA comp, and another that wants to play in the MBL comp, they will support that. All players will be eligible to play for the representative team that they play with in the season proper. This has been performed by the Quakers Hill Pirates for some time now. They played in both the Cumberland and Hills competitions. If a player chooses to play in the BDBA comp and BDBA reps, that is their choice. If a player chooses to play in the MBL comp and play for the MBL reps, that is their choice. Ultimately this gives you, a Moorebank member, the best of both worlds. You can play in BDBA and see what unfolds in the MBL, or you can join the MBL now. Your choice. If you have any questions regarding any of the above please feel free to ask. Regards, Jason Mills MBSC President
