Luthermuir now join Mearns Utd in the top Premier Division next season.
APOLOGIES
For the site Homepage not having its usual appearance. This was due to have too much info on the page but after a long due cleanout we are back to normal service!
PAUL WHYTE DOUBLE (AGAIN)
Roselea held their end of season trophy presentation on Sunday 6th May in the Golf Inn Lounge. Paul Whyte picked up a double with Player of Year and Players Player. Ryan Taylor scooped the Junior Supporters award, Stewart Fletcher was Top Scorer and Allan Reoch Clubman of the year. (Photos to follow in latest news section shortly, including Fletch's drunken poses!)
LINKS PARK COMMUNITY TRUST
Having been personally involved in a project for around 18 months to get a new Charitable Trust in Montrose underway, the LPCT will be for the benefit of providing local children with the Foundations to take part in Sport, Health & Education. I was delighted to be involved in a launch day which had around 75 children involved at Links Park today with Peter Davidson (General Manager), Craig Ferguson (Sports Co-ordinator) and several local coaches at the fore. In the coming weeks and months the aims of the Trust will become clear to the public however here is a link to the LPCT website to check for yourselves- http://www.linksparkct.org.uk/home/
This is something that has been spoken about for far too long and hopefully the Trust as an Independent body will be the start of a long road to improving things locally on many fronts. The LPCT will be added to the Links page of the Roselea website.
CLUB AGM
The clubs AGM will be in the Golf Inn on Wednesday June 20th commencing at 7pm. As always the AGM is open to anyone and new prospective new Committee members are welcome to come along.
CLUB CAPTAIN MAKES IT SEASON NO 15
Club Captain Paul Whyte has signed for another season making it his 15th for the the Club. Signed from the Neptune Bar team on August 14th 1997 "Whytie" has almost been an ever present for the club during that time missing only a handful of games and even played around a dozen games between the sticks for a season. It is hoped that along with his signing and most of the current side resigning it will trigger a push for promotion to the Premier League.
LEAGUE RECONSTRUCTION TALKS
Following the Regional Meeting in April the Management Committee of the East region presented their favoured set up for the 2013/14 season with a new Championship Region wide League of 12 coming in below the Premier League. That would leave the Super and Premier Leagues as they are with 12 in each and a North and South Division League below the Championship with around 13/14 in each. One automatic place will go to the Winners of the Divisional Leagues with a play off between the runners up and the third bottom of the Championship securing the last place. Jeanfields proposal of 4x 16s will likely go in opposition to this and the Status Quo. Jeanfields plan would see the removal of the League Cup and a straight 2 up from the North/South Divisional Leagues and 4 down from the Premier. This will also guarantee 30 games per season. The East Region AGM will take place on the third Tuesday in June (19th).
VIOLET CLINCH TITLE AGAINST 9 MAN LEA
Violet were deserved winners and clinched the the McBookie.com North Division at Broomfield Park with a 2-1 over Roselea. Trailling 2-0 at half time to goals by Anderson and McConnachie, Roselea were dealt a blow when Paul Taylor was shown a second yellow card and James Collier also walked for dissent. Ross Colquhoun pulled one back and despite a late rally they couldnt get an equaliser. Congratulations to Violet for winning the Title.
HONOURS EVEN WITH IMPROVED CRAIGIE
Roselea battled out a 2-2 draw with East Craigie today in a game they had to avoid loss in to prevent the Title being handed to Violet. A Stewart Fletcher equaliser in 93 mins cancelled out East Craigies penalty which had given them a 2-1 lead. Roselea trailled 1-0 at half time before Kevin Webster equalised after missing an earlier penalty. In a frustrating game Roselea had several players yellow carded and Craigies Adam was sent off with 10 minutes remaining.
TIGHT MATCH AT BLAIRGOWRIE
Roselea just edged Blairgowrie out in a tight match on a bumpy surface at Davie Park. Stewart Fletcher finished well with a volley from 12 yards before Hart equalised with a powerful shot from an angle. Kevin Websters quick feet saw him soot home the winner in 73 minutes to give Roselea the 3 points.
FINAL FIXTURE SAT APRIL 14th
As things stand the final fixture of season 2011/12 will be a home League match with champions elect Dundee Violet. If results pan out it could end up with Violet looking for a draw to clinch the League title at Broomfield Park. Roseleas penultimate fixture is also at home to East Craigie on April 7th and both matches Kick Off at 2.30pm
ROSELEA FALTER AT BEECHWOOD
Roselea in being defeated 2-1 at Lochee Harp effectively gave up any realistic chance of the North Division as Violet drew 1-1 with North End. The defeat leaves Roselea 4 points behind with Violet also having the security of a game in hand. Roselea now head to Davie Park Blairgowrie on Sat 31st March.
GA CUP 1/4 FINAL DRAW

FRIENDLY RESULT / NEXT FIXTURES
In a competitive match at Links Park Brechin Vics came out in top courtesy of a McNaught penalty. The match allowed both camps to use all their squads to the full.

THREE POINTS ARE THREE POINTS
A Paul Whyte header and a late Kevin Webster penalty were enough to give Roselea three points against a stuffy Forfar Albion side today. The win keeps Roselea in contention after Violet won 3-2 at Lochee Harp.
FREE WEEK MARCH 17th
Roselea have been handed a free week on Sat March 17th but have prov arranged a friendly v Brechin Vics at the Links Park Astro on Weds March 14th 7.00pm to compensate.
WIN KEEPS LEA IN TOUCH
A very comprehensive win over Kirrie Thistle today kept Roselea in touch with leaders Violet who had a last minute winner over Blairgowrie. A first half Stewart Fletcher hat-trick and second half Kevin Webster penalty gave Roselea the three points.
FIXTURE MARCH 10th
With the fixtures starting to come out earlier we have our next fixture which is Forfar Albion at home on Sat March 10th with a 2.30pm KO. Albion recorded their first win under Manager Derek Lawson over Lochee Harp last weekend.
PLAYER UPDATES
Four players have committed themselves to Roselea for at least another season with James Collier, Sean Mustard, Ryan Taylor and Scott Riach all agreeing to sign. Ryan Strachan has returned from Brechin Vics unfortunately only to pick up a training injury. Lee Hood & Jack Rodger have gone to Johnshaven and Brechin Vics respectively to get some games under their belts with a view to returning before the end of March transfer deadline.
COLLIER NETS LEA 3 POINTS
A James Collier header in 77 minutes was all that seperated Roselea and Blairgowrie in a competitive and entertaing fixture today. The win takes Roselea level on points with Violet who were on Cup duty losing on penalties to Stoneywood in the GA Cup. (Match Report added)
FIXTURE MARCH 3rd
With the Scottish Cup reaching the latter stages we should now start getting a flow of fixtures and Kirrie Thistle (away) will be our next game on Sat 3rd March with Kick Offs reverting to 2.30pm
ROSELEA TAKE DERBY HONOURS
Roselea were made to work hard at Victoria Park today winning by the odd goal in 5. Vics were 2 up inside 18 minutes before Collier pulled one back on 28 minutes. Late goals by Collier and Whyte sealed the win. (Match Report added Tues Feb 21st due to holidays)
CARNOUSTIE PROGRESS AFTER G A CUP TIE
Roselea ran Superleague side Carnoustie close today however it was the home side who will travel to Hermes for the 3rd Round tie. Roberts gave the home side the lead on 29 minutes with an unstoppable strike from 25 yards then Gates increased the lead on 64 minutes firing home from close range. Paul Whytes goal in 75 minutes gave Roselea some hope and despite putting the hosts under some uncomfortable pressure they held out for the win.
Roselea travel to face Brechin Vics on Sat Feb 18th with a 2.15pm KO. Vics will want to draw a line under their 10-1 humiliation to Violet and try to give the Lea a harder time.
EMIRATES SCOTTISH JUNIOR CUP 5th ROUND
The draw was held on Real Radio on Thursday Feb 3rd and there are some great ties in prospect. Tayside survivors Lochee Utd will face Irvine Meadow at home if they can defeat Pollok in the replay. Full draw on latest news section
8th MENS SPORTSMANS DINNER
Apologies for the delay in getting some feedback on here, work dictates! Another great night was enjoyed as Janey Godley, Sheriff Lindsay Wood and Tam Cowan entertained a merry but very well behaved crowd. An emotional presentation was made to Honorary President Jock Skinner to mark his 24 years to the club by Paul Whyte (Captain) and Bryce Whyte (Vice President) with a silver salver.
On a very sad note Jim Hodson (Huddy) who attended the Dinner died suddenly with a suspected Heart Attack on Tues Feb 1st. A great player in his day (scoring 28 goals from midifeld for ASC in one season) for most he will be remembered for being on Arbroath Vics Committee and as Manager of Arbroath Vics and a spell at Brechin Vics in the same role. The thoughts of all at Roselea are with his family in what must be a hard time for them.

GAME OFF SAT JAN 28th
Roselea's League fixture at Blairgowrie was postponed at 9am and the outlook is bleak for the Junior card with many games off already. At least we have the Dinner at night to look forward to!
OAKLEY SNATCH TIE AT THE DEATH
Roselea put up a great display and fought until the end however a goal 2 minutes from time by substitute McMillan earned Oakley a passage into the 3rd Round of the East of Scotland Cup. Roselea took a 12 minute lead with an own goal from Cusick following a good run and cross by Ryan Taylor however Kelly equalised on 23 minutes.
EAST OF SCOTLAND CUP 3rd ROUND DRAW
The winners of Saturdays game with Oakley Utd will face either Kirrie Thistle or Dalkeith at home. The full draw is now up on the Latest News section.
CARNOUSTIE GAME OFF
After the heavey overnight frost as expetced the 10am inspection at Laing Park was a no. The game is now likely to be played on Sat Jan 28th however this will have to be confirmed by the Fixtures Secretary
VIOLET ONLY WINNERS AFTER STALEMATE
Roselea and North End served up a cracking game however with the scores level it will be Violet who will be happiest with the outcome. Stewart Fletcher converted Ryan Taylors cross in 65 minutes to cancel out an unfortunate own goal by Bob Urquhart in only 30 seconds.
LEA HELP THE BLUE TOON PREPARE
A request from Peterhead FC to use Broomfield Park to train on before their Scottish Cup tie with Celtic FC was granted and they will train on Broomfield Park tonight (Jan 5th) at 7pm. Sun Story:
JAN FIXTURES
As well as the North End game at home on Jan 7th we also have a fixture for Jan 14th and will play Carnoustie Panmure away in the GA Cup 2nd Round. The winners will travel to play North Superleague leaders Hermes in February.
HOGMANY CHEER!
Alan Simpson has been working hard to fix up a Hogmany Friendly and thanks to Parkvale who have come up with the goods. The match on Saturday Dec 31st will KO at 12.00. Players meet at 11.
BROUGHTY TOPS IN FRIENDLY
A Ross Lunan penalty in 65 minutes was the difference in this friendly. Both teams felt it was a good workout and it was played with a high tempo. Roselea are now looking for opponents to play at Links Park on Weds 28th with a 7pm KO.
100k HITS
On Saturday December 3rd the Roselea website which was formed in 2004 was sitting with 99,953 hits. Although it is nearly impossible to watch, the 100,000 barrier will likley be breached today with the usual views of the Match Report. If the person who makes the 100,000th hit wishes to contact me by email we will try and publicise the fact (should they wish of course)! gill.fin@btinternet.com See bottom of each page for the counter.
Dec 6th- It was our own young Supporter Tayler Gill who got the 100,000th hit on the site thus prompting a celebration so Dad got the Red wine out!
9 MAN LEA JUST FAIL TO HANG ON
A headed goal from Craig Watson against his former side gave Arbroath Vics a share of the spoils in a heated derby match. Stewart Fletcher gave Roselea the lead on 32 minutes and Vics then has Sturrock sent off for a 2nd booking. Craig Anderson followed in a similar fashion after receiving a second yellow for a very soft foul. James Collier also saw red on 75 again for a second booking for a foul again in confusing circumstances. Roselea could have had a third red card after Whyte lost patience with the referee after a foul was not given and should have been sent off. With Violet winning 2-0 v Kirrie Thistle this means Roselea lose ground on the leaders.

BEEFS MOHICAN
A recent Pie & Bovril thread was asking about the worst haircuts in Junior football which led me to search for Wayne "Beef" Keiths green Mohican and a search found it on Ian Patersons archive website. It was indeed very, very green but I liked it: http://www.pbase.com/ianpaterson/image/108997981
More old Roselea photos are available on Ians site and I will try and get a link to it set up on the Photo Archive Section. Here it is for just now:http://www.pbase.com/ianpaterson/montrose_roselea_jfc
And the link to the P&B Forum: http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/154206-worst-hair-cut-in-junior-football/page__st__25
BRECHIN VICS PART WITH MANAGEMENT TEAM
Brechin Vics are on the look out for a new manager after parting company with the previous management team of Kevin Longmuir and David Balfour. The Vics club website thanked Kevin and David for all their efforts and wished them both all the best for the future.
CHEESY DEPARTS
Roselea have agreed a fee with Arbroath Vics for striker Craig Watson who returns to his former club making an appearance in the 4-2 defeat to East Craigie. The big striker scored 13 goals in season 2010/11 in almost as many games. He leaves with best wishes of all at the club.
LEA LEAVE IT LATE AT BEECHWOOD
Roselea made it to the second round of the East of Scotland Cup with a late James Collier winner at Lochee Harp. Roselea lead through Fletchers early goal before Ross Colquhoun picked up two quick yellows at the end of the first half. Ryan Tayler scored a cracker in the first minute of the 2nd half before Williamsons double brought Harp level. Subs Aitken & Collier combined with the latter slotting home in the 94th minute.
PETERHEAD FRIENDLY
Roselea will now face Peterhead in a friendly at Broomfield Park on Monday Sept 19th with a 7.30pm KO after Strathmore Ams had to withdraw.
RYDER CUP SUCCESS
A total of 33 players took part in the Roselea Ryder Cup at Forfar on Sunday Sept 11th. It was the closest one for many years with Kes Youngs Golf Inn side pipping Dean Milnes club side by 111/2 to 101/2. The coveted trophy is now back in the Golf Inn for another year. Dean Milne has stepped down as Club captain. It was another great days golf and some of the usual stories circulated long into the night. Roll on 2012!
JOCK STEPS DOWN
Jock Skinner who has served the club for 22 years has stepped down from his position as President at the Clubs Sept Committee meeting. After being Main Sponsor of the Club as the owner of the Neptune Bar Jock took on the role of President nad has looked after the club in many ways during his time. The club have made him an Honarary President.

VIOLET TOO STRONG FOR ROSELEA
Roselea had a disappointing afternoon in Dundee as Violet were just too strong for Roselea. Trailling to a poor goal after 2 minutes Roselea finally got going but tow second half goals killed off any possibility of a comeback. Roselea now have a free week followed by an EOS cup tie at Harp on the 17th. Brechin Vics will visit Broomfield Park on Sat 24th Sept on League business.
EMIRATES SCOTTISH CUP 1st ROUND DRAW
The draw for the first round of the Emirates Scottish Cup saw Roselea get their 10th bye in the last 11 draws! The full draw is now up on the Latest News Section and fixtures should arrive soon for the 24th Sept and Oct 1st.
ANOTHER STALEMATE WITH VICS
Roselea drew another blank with Arbroath Vics in their first McBookie.com North Division match. A Collier header hit the bar in 86 minutes and Anderson had his follow up shot cleared off the line as Vics survived. Roselea now travel to Dundee Violet in their 2nd game on Sat Sept 3rd. The match kicks off at 2.30pm
GOLF INN BEAT THE GOLF INN
Sunday August 21st saw the traditional Golf Inn Welfare Side beat the Golf Inn regulars side by 6-3. The regulars side consisted mainly of Roselea personnel however the average age was pushed up by a couple of Committee members and ex Golf Inn stars. It was a good competitive game and our Main Sponsors tills were busy after the match as many took in extra fluids to counteract the heat! Thanks to Kevin & Alison for arranging the match and also for the Burgers after the game.
FRIENDLY ARRANGED
With the impending free week coming up on Sat Sept 10th Roselea have arranged a freindly with Stonehaven Juniors on Weds August 31st at Broomfield Park with a 7.15pm KO. This will allow all to benefit from additional match practice.
ROSELEA JUST PIPPED
Roselea finished their DJ Laing League Cup Section with a resounding 2-0 win over Forfar Albion with James Collier and Stewart Fletcher grabbing the goals. For a moment it looked like the unlikely might happen as Arbroath Vics were being held by Blairgowrie but a 2nd half burst of goals saw them win 4-1. Vics will now face Carnoustie in the Semi Finals.
EMIRATES JUNIOR CUP DRAW
The 1st Round Draw for the 2011/12 Emirates Junior Cup will take place on Tues August 30th at Hampden Park at 1pm.

PLAYER SPONSORS
Many thanks to all who have Sponsored players for the season 2011/12. On Saturday Ron Mitchell snapped up the last remaining player Ryan Taylor. The website will be updated shortly with details of Sponsors.
ROSELEA DRAW BLANK v ARBROATH VICS
Roselea despite having the upperhand in clear cut chances could not break the seadlock as Vics left with a valuable draw to make them clear favourites to make the Semi Finals for the second year running. Collier and Hood both had good scoring chances but came up against a Vics defence not giving much away. Roselea now travel to Forfar Albion in the last section game on August 20th.
ROSELEA RYDER CUP ANNOUNCED
Forfar is the chosen venue for the Roselea Ryder Cup on Sunday September 11th. It will be in the usual format and is open to all former players as well. Further details will be announced shortly but names can be put down either in the clubrooms or at the Golf Inn
LEA FAIL TO HOLD ON
Roselea lost a late goal against spirited Blairgowrie side to draw 1-1 in their opening DJ Laing League Cup match. Paul Whyte had given Roselea the lead in 68 minutes from close range and then had a penalty saved 5 minutes later. Blairgowries defender was firstly unlucky to concede the penalty and then even unluckier to see a straight red card. Gary Axworthy scored a late penalty to level matters. (Match Report now added)
3 NEW SIGNINGS COMPLETED
Roselea have added to their squad by signing Striker Stewart Fletcher who was with Lowson Utd in 2010/11. The Forfar based player aged 20 has impressed in the 3 matches and scored in all three bagging two v Parkvale. Jack Rodger (18) has signed from Main Sponsors Golf Inn Welfare side and the wide left player has made a great impact in the matches so far. Paul Taylor (19) who played with Jordan Reoch at under age level including Dundee Utd and scored a hatrick in the Mearns Utd Friendly. He can play in a number of positions and is another welcome addition to the squad.
ROSELEA PRE SEASON COMPLETED
Roselea had a good start to their Pre Season preparations with a resounding 6-1 win over visitors Parkvale. Scorers were Urquhart, Hood, Mustard, Aitken and Trialist (2). Cove Rangers visited Broomfield on Tuesday 19th and left with a hard earned 3-1 win. Roselea showed some good stuff and a late penalty sealed it for Cove who were undoubtedly a class side also filled with youngsters.
On Sat 23rd Roselea went down to a stuffy Dyce side who made things difficult for the visitors. New signing Fletcher scored to equalise in the second half but Dyce created the better chances and won and could have added to their tally. Another good workout which also allowed some team bonding and a few Dyce Glayvas to be consumed. On Tuesday 26th July Roselea travelled to the home of the Watsons- Fettercairn to face the local Mearns Utd and despite a hard workout ran out 6-1 winners. A trialist striker scored 3 goals and will be in the Roselea radar. Roselea's completed their pre season will finish with a tough away game with Lochee Utd on Sat July 30th. They opened the scoring through Scott Riach however Lochee fought back and scored three with Voight (2) and O'Leary scoring on a tremendous Thomson Park surface. Managers Craig & Brand will possibly make another couple of signings before the season starts. A friendly has be arranged with Forfar FC reserves at Broomfield Park on Tues 9th August with a 7pm KO.
PLAYERS MOVING ON
Mark Fotheringham has moved in the opposite direction to Craig Anderson and is rejoining Arbroath Vics whom he arrived from in 2009. David Craig & Gavin Reid have indicated that they are looking for new clubs and Matt Miller was released at the end of season 2010/11.
EAST OF SCOTLAND 1st ROUND DRAW
Roselea have been drawn away to Lochee Harp in the 1st Round Draw of the East of Scotland Cup. Date TBA, Full Draw on ERJFA Website
CRAIG ANDERSON SIGNING
Former player Craig Anderson has returned to Roselea after a spell away at Tayport and Arbroath Vics. The 23 year old midfielder is the only signing made so far but as Ralph Brand points out he is not concerned. “We have retained most of last season's squad which I think are good enough to take Roselea up. We would have liked to have fixed up one or two additions however we don’t see the point of signing players just to make up the numbers and we will only be brining in players who we think are good enough and ready to challenge for a starting place”
DJ LAING CUP SECTIONS DRAWN
The sections for the DJ Laing Cup Sections were drawn at Lochee Utd on Saturday June 25th and paired Roselea with Arbroath Vics, Blairgowrie and Forfar Albion.
