P2, As Power Win at Hoop City
The MPSC hit every big shot, got every key rebound, had key defensive stops and confused their opponents as they went on to win the Hoop City Tournament of Champions for the 15 & 16 year old divsions. "It was a great time, not because we won the tournament but becasue everyone from the parents and players believed in this team and the philosophy of goals and unity," said coach Tarver. I love this team and the people involved. It has been a great ride sometimnes bumpy but if you have a great means of transportation you can weather any road.

Thanks For the Memories "Ad" #9 & #14
The MPSc would like to thank Adam Sternbach for his service commitment and dedication to the organization for the past 4 years. You will be missed on and off the court. The club wishes Adam well with his time off from the team.

"With departure of Adam Sternbach, a captain for 3 1/2 seasons, it is very important to keep the team focused and I feel that appointing a captain is the right thing to do." said Coach Tarver. Coach Tarver also acknowledge it is a true honor to be named captain because they are my coaches on the floor. The U-16 will add 3 captain to the team to make 4 captains for the the upcoming AAU season.

Canada Has A "Power Surge"
The MPSC traveled to Montreal,Canada for the Canadian Federation International Basketball Festival July 17th - 20th. The teams played inspired and unified basketball wearing United States basketball shirts with the slogan "United We Play" with a red, white and blue basketball. This Festival will feature teams from the United States, Canada and European Teams.

Playing with true pride the Power went an amazing 8 - 1 in international play going 7 - 0 against Canadian Teams.
The Power outscored the opponents by an astonishing 30 points per game. The Power 16's were lead by Timmy Lucas, who tallied 32 points in three-quarters of play along with a team high 13 assists and 10 steals for his 2nd career tripled-double. The 16's also had great support from Kevin Olivieri, Kavan Brandon, Harris Feibischoff, Chris Ko, Jeff Horowitz and Jon Devito. The Power 15's were lead by Team Captain AJ Rudowitz and Justin Sandoval who out rebounded each team we played.

The Power had many memorable moments as AJ Rudowitz threw down a two-handed break away dunk, Trevor Tonkovich had his first dunk as a Power player and Timmy Lucas hitting three-pointer at the buzzer using Jeff Horowitz as a decoy.

The Power would also like to acknowledge the following parents for their commitment, dedication, unselfishness, time and energy in helping make the trip a true MPSC success.

Try Again "Words to Inspire & Motivate to Never Give Up"
Life is a long bumpy road.
We each carry our troubles, like a heavy load.
There are many hard turns and some dead ends, But whenever we're stuck we must Try Again.

No one's got an easy ride,
But failure can be pushed aside.
When we give up hope nothing good can happen.
So, when all seems lost you must Try Again.

You can't have a meal, if you don't sit at a table.
You won't learn the moral, if you don't read the table.
You can't take control, if you're plagued by inaction.
And you won't overcome loss if you don't Try Again.

When the coin's in the air, if you don't pick heads or tails, Having not made a choice you are bound to fail.
But if you choose and choose wrong, you can always win,
Because on the next flip you can still Try Again.

Those who succeed seem to have it made,
Basking in the sunshine or lying in the shade.
But they've been down too and it was just then,
That they picked themselves up, so they could Try Again.

So when your spirit is weak and you need to cry
And you want to be happy, but you have to sigh,
When things seem bleakest, that's the time when you must shrug it off and Try, Try Again.

MPSC Banquet Becomes Tradition
The MPSC Players, Parents and Coaches got a chance to sit reflect and say thanks for a SUCCESSFUL '2002 campaign.

The team received a great lecture from Rutgers-Newark Head Coach Joe Lougrhan, who told the kids to work on the basics and learn everyday. The team had raffles, laughs and even touching moments when MPSC Player Mentor Timmy Lucas, read his speech. "Timmy's words meant a lot to me as Director, because they were true and from his heart," said Coach Tarver. Adam Sternbach, MPSC Player Mentor also addressed the audience, "saying that it is the team and friends that have become important". The team would also like to congratulate Adam Sternbach and AJ Rudowitz for being named MPSC Most Dedicated and Most Improved.

The Team is focusing on '2003 and all the great times to come. Happy Thanksgiving!

Power PA Tournament More Than Basketball
With rain and a seasonal cold in the night air the Monmouth Power Basketball Club kept warm with conversation and good spirits.

After a long day of traveling and games the Power decided to go out and dine as they always do, together as friends, together as a team, together as a family.

During the course of the day the team was introduced to a new player joining the Monmouth Power 16's Ryan Kraft, a 6'5 Junior who hails from the Philadelphia area had met both Timmy Lucas and Coach Tarver at the The Hoop Group, Pocono Invitational Shooting Camp. When the team was introduced to Ryan he was treated like a long lost friend. The club embraced him and his parents with a kindness that only the MPSC could offer. The team also acknowledged the new members of the Monmouth Power Family the Weldon's John Sr. and Harry.

The dinner had a lot of things to discussed from the sniper, politics, cigars, the rally monkey, tournaments, and SAT's. The dinner had a moment that as Director, I am very proud of. It's not the wins, the trophies or the acknowledgements we receive, but the team, which is truly a team was together in unity and sharing. "It is very rare in sports today to find what the MPSC has given not only me as Coach, but it has given parents, coaches and players different avenues, meaning its a road that we can all travel on to achieve our goals, ambitions and dreams.

Thanks to the MPSC Family for a Successful Weekend: Rosa & Timmy Lucas, Bill & AJ Rudowitz, Adam Sternbach, Ryan Kraft, Phil Beggans, Maria & Justin Sandoval, Steve & Ethan Berlin, Chris, Kathy & Kevin Olivieri, Barry, Linda & Neil Messing, John Sr. & John Jr.(Harry) Weldon, Harris Feibischoff, Jeff Horowitz & Nouri Aktouf.
