November meeting

MRM Meeting, November 6, 2008

6:30 pm, conference room 3, Monadnock Hospital, Peterborough,NH

Present: Shaun McMahon, Kathy and Bill Engle, Ginger Smith, Lisa Ramey

Harvest Classic wrap up - Shaun enlists help to get Harvest mugs to all runners

Shaun also announces that he is comfortable with this year's race as his last Harvest Classic. Herculean efforts to bring more runners to beautiful MacDowell Dam in foliage season, have been minimally fruitful, and Lisa agrees that any future races at MacDowell will not need to be so formal - the numbers don't warrant professional timing, nor major pre race effort. Kathy expresses the hope that such a beautiful race will continue in some format.

The Darks' October potluck was excellent, and the Engle's have offered a potluck dinner at their house on Dec 20 at 6 pm.

Lisa announces nominations are open for President Awards. Stan Dutton and Ross Ramey are currently offered as nominees.

Treasurer's Report - After Harvest expenses, our current balance is $1421.82.  MAGP funds are still owed by some race directors, and the MAGP celebration for those in the top three of each age category will be invited to Ted's soon for refreshments and awards.

Due to decreasing numbers of active members, discussion of  possible dissolution of the club in 2009 or 2010 led to frank discussion of what the club might accomplish in its last year(s). Lisa's presidency will end in April, and Shaun is stepping back in Miler time commitments. The Chiller season is still popular, and will begin in January on weekends other than Gate City's Freeze Your Buns runs. Lisa and Ginger volunteer to host chillers. Dates to be determined. Shaun mentions a possible Dublin triathlon in spring 2009, in and around Dublin Lake.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm.

Yours respectfully, Lisa Ramey, Acting Secretary

Sunday, October 5
September Miler Meeting

Monadnock Milers meeting, Sept 25, 2008

Monadnock Hospital, Conf room 3

6:30-7:30

Present - Shaun McMahon, Theresa Kirouac Little, Hunt Dowse, Marge Dineen, Ginger Smith, Bill and Kathy Engle, Lisa Ramey

 Agenda -

Communications - Keene Sentinel reporters were unable to attend due to late breaking stories elsewhere, but belatedly promised to come and discuss a new running/ fitness blog

Feedback on the forum offered by Matt Richard is so far mixed. One must log in, and people have found it difficult to get quick responses to requests, for ex, for running partners. Further trials are warranted.

Treasurer's report - Current balance $2065.62, some to be used for the Harvest Classic expenses, some for our 2009 RRCA dues/insurance costs, and some for new tshirts and prizes for Milers. MAGP race members have not all paid into the MAGP fund. Temple, Hancock, and Westmoreland have paid.

Shaun is waiting for a quote from Ted's for bright yellow Miler tshirts. We discuss whether to give shirts to members, or at least offer at a discount. We discuss other offers for Milers, such as mini towels, Ave Maria coupons. Lisa mentions we still have Miler jackets in all sizes available for $59.

  Upcoming events -

The Harvest Classic 5k - Saturday, Oct 11 at 9 am at the MacDowell Dam. Current volunteers are Lisa ,Ross, Shaun and Allain. Ginger, Kathy, Bill, and Theresa all volunteer.

The Manchester Marathon, Nov 2 still needs volunteers although Shaun is also looking elsewhere for help. Comments on how well it was run last uear.

Chillers - Perhaps we'll have just two or three venues this year, so people can work toward PRs on repeated courses - Adams Playground and others to be determined. Perhaps offer chits at each race good for prizes.

Wellness 5k - Sept 27, 9am, prizes for everyone. Lisa and Ross are race directors

Greenfield Firefighters 10k - Sept 27, 11 am Oak Park. New race. Dave Hall race director. Lisa and Ross plan to race this after directing the Wellness run. Ginger plans to be race photographer.

Other business - Ginger mentions EMS interest in hosting a Club night, and other after hours gatherings, dates to be determined, with experts available to teach us. EMS would hope for 40 attendants, which would require reaching beyond the Club, perhaps to Gate City as well.

Lisa gives her notice that as of April, 2009, the Milers will need a new President. Marge suggests organizing a nomination committee. Perhaps phone calls would help find volunteers for the races, drum up participants in pot lucks , and find us a new President.

Next pot luck October 25 at the Darks in Peterborough. Gratitude and applause.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm. Next meeting, Thursday, Nov 6, Monadnock Community Hospital, conference room 3, 6:30-7:30

Theresa volunteers to do future minutes due to the busy life of current Secretary Jenn Helsel. Respectfully submitted, Lisa Ramey, President and Acting Secretary
