    Mohican Post 553 Team Rules



These are rules that all players are required to follow during the Mohican Post 553 American Legion season. Conduct is expected to be positive and becoming.

Here are the list of team rules:

1.   The purchase, distribution or use of alcohol, tobacco or any other drug by a player without written consent of a licensed, practicing physician is prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in suspension!!

2.   Throwing and/or abuse of equipment is prohibited. In the event that equipment is damaged, the player will be expected to reimburse Post 553 for replacement costs.

3.   No earrings or jewelry are allowed at practice or during games. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

4.   Hats will be worn correctly at all times.

5.   Uniforms will be kept clean at all times. When on the road for more than 2 days a parent/or parents will help in keeping them clean.

6.   NO spectators are allowed in the dugout during games. This includes parents, family members, friends, girlfriends, scouts. You will be able to talk to them after the game or in between a double header.

7.   Players are allowed to leave the dugout only for the following reasons:
      a) retrieve foul balls
      b) go to the bathroom
      c) warm up / stretch / throw
      d) medical or weather related emergency

8.   When traveling to and from games the team will meet a designated location. It is acceptable for players to travel to and from games with parents, but it is mandatory that a member of the coaching staff be informed of your intentions. (If not told you will be suspended as coach fit)

9.   When traveling with the team and multiple drivers, we will use a procession. A member of the coaching staff will lead. All other vehicles in our caravan will fall in behind. Another member of the coaching staff/or parent vehicle will be at the rear. (Unsafe driving by players will not be TOLERATED, and suspension may happen as coach sees fit)

10.   Those who drive in these caravans and receive a traffic ticket of any kind will be responsible for their own fines, fees and court costs.

11.   When the team travels out of town and stays in a hotel the following will take place:
       a) Players will be assigned to a room. (This is the room you are to sleep in. NO EXCEPTIONS)
       b) Rooms are expected to be kept clean
       c) Damage to rooms are the players in the room responsibility, and may result in not playing the rest of the trip.        
       d) No female guest will be allowed in a players room while UN-CHAPERONED by an adult, coach or parent. Any player violating this rule may be dismissed.
       e) Bed checks and curfews will be enforced. If you are not where you are supposed to be you will sit the next 2 games. NO EXCEPTIONS

12.   All players will be required to carry ALL equipment to and from games and practices.

13.   All players are expected to call a member of the coaching staff if you will be missing a game or practice. This should be done at least 1 day before the date missed. (Disciplinary action will happen if not done NO EXCEPTIONS)

14.   For players that compete in more than one sport which requires additional summer camps/training, the following will apply:
       a) During the time of the County, District, State, Regional and World Series Tournaments the program assumes that American Legion Baseball is your priority. If summer camp or training commitments interfere with the post season play PLEASE DO NOT TRY OUT. This is in fairness to all that are at the open try-outs and want to make the commitment to play Legion ball

15.   Players are expected to uphold the Legion Code of Sportsmanship at all times.

16.   No parent, family member or friends are permitted to heckle, harass or use profane or vulgar remarks or gestures towards the opposing team, coaches or umpires. Again members of Post 553 believes in sportsmanship. Anyone violating these rules will be asked to leave the park. In case of a second time, you will be asked not to come in the park for the rest of the season.

17.   Post 553 has accident, liability and medical insurance policies for all rostered players and coaches. A copy of the applicable policy can be made available upon request.
