Enduring a summer heat wave, the girls participated in twice a day training sessions, daily journaling and evening scrimmages. They found creative ways to keep cool and buy snacks. Talent shows, pizza and swimming were also part of the week long activities. A great way to start the new season. Check out the some more camp pictures on the Albums page. Comets Undefeated at 2005 Jefferson Cup
The Comets first round match was against the Michigan State Cup Runner-Ups, Michigan Hawks. This was a tight match which ended in a 0-0 tie. This was Michigan's second match of the day. Earlier they beat CFC Comets the State Cup champions from Connecticut 4-0. The Comets faced the CFC Comets team in the second match. These two teams faced off early in the month in MAPS league play. Then the CFC team prevailed 3-1. But the second meeting of these two Comets teams had a different outcome. The MLU Comets played a strong and hard fought match and went on to win 1-0. Unfortunately, this was not enough to move the MLU Comets into the semi-final round. On Sunday, the Comets played the second place consolation match against the Massachusetts State Champions, Nova SC Fusion. The Comets played the Fusion at WAGS which ended in a 1-1 tie, but the Comets came out strong this Spring season and won the consolation match 2-0. All in all, this was a good weekend for the Comets. They went undefeated and did not allow not one goal. Way to go Comets! Click here to check out some clips from the tournament. TOPS (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a USSF program that is designed for kids with special needs who would like to learn to play soccer and have fun. It's a very rewarding experience for the girls who are having as much fun as their little buddies!
Comets Make it to Princeton Some of the Comets attended soccer camp with Coach Dave at Princeton University, July 27-31, 2004. The Comets spent five days and nights on the beautiful Princeton campus. With fans, sheets, snacks, soccer gear, rain gear and pillows in hand, the Comets arrived on Tuesday the 27th for registration. After receiving their keys, dorm key cards and meal cards, they made their way across campus to their dorms. About one hour later, they were on their way to their first training session. The days started early with breakfast and morning training. Then there was lunch and afternoon training. There was some time for the pool before dinner and after dinner there were scrimmages. There were card games, pizza, and music at the end of the day and then back in their rooms for lights out. The Comets survived the week with no air conditioning, lost keys, rug burns, and blisters and still managed to train and work hard and play awesome soccer. What a great experience for all and a good way to kick off the Fall 2004 season. Click here to check out the Fall 2004 album for a few more pictures.

Comets Undefeated at Jefferson Cup
For more information on the Jefferson Cup tournament, check out the Richmond Strikers Online. Saturday, February 8 GOT MILK ANYONE? Alex, Jess and Chelsea, along with Alyssa (TBAA Renegades) and Emily (Marlton Storm) must have certainly had their daily allotment, as they placed 2nd in the local qualifier of the GOT MILK 3V3 Soccer Shootout held in June in Yardley, Pa. Since the Comets were participating in the Endless Summer Tournament in August, which was the date of the Regional qualifier, the girls got an exemption by virtue of their 2nd place finish and were eligible to compete in the National Finals to be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports from Jan. 17-19. The FAB FIVE started pool play on Friday by tying the Smoochies from Denver, Co., defeating the girls from Harmer, Pa., and losing a close one to Westlake, Oh. Early Saturday morning the girls lost a tough game to the Crushers from Chicago, which put them out of contention for medal play, but allowed them the rest of the day to visit their favorite parks! The girls and their families had a wonderful time in Disney and still can't decide which is better: Tower of Terror or Aerosmith's Rock and Rollercoaster! Coaches Jeff and Mark did an awesome job with the girls who played great against their competition, some of whom have been practicing and playing 3v3 for several years.

Halfway through the spring season, the Comets were undefeated, beating all teams in the division and only allowing 2 goals. The Comets ended the season 8-1-1 with the tie against the defending champions Marlton Storm and one lost against long time rivals and second place TBAA Renegades. This is the Comets second Olympic Division title. Parents, friends and fans are extremely proud of all the girls and their coaches and trainers. Way to go Comets! Although the Ladykickers scored within 2 minutes of the start of the final matchup, the Comets defense was able to recover and thwart the victor's subsequent attacks and hold them to the lone goal. Despite a rallying effort, the Comets were unable to answer the goal, and lost in the Championship Game 1-0, earning them finalist medals in their first Jefferson Cup showing. Monday, May 28 Comets Place First in Hampden Tournament!
Playing in the top bracket, the Comets took home the championship trophy in the 2001 Hampden Girls Tournament in Hershey, Pa. Traveling 120 miles to play their conference rival TBAA Renegades at 8am, the girls were really on their game and defeated the Renegades 4-0. Later that morning the Comets faced a tough Sterling Lightning team from Va. and tied them 2-2. At 8:30 on Sunday morning the girls faced the Susquehanna, Pa. Tiggers and held on for a 2-0 victory only to find out that they were to face the Renegades again in the championship game. With everyone wondering if the Comets would break the pattern of only defeating the Renegades every other game, and with the rain causing the field to become quite slippery, the Comets played tough and defeated TBAA 3-0 to take home the trophy! Way to go girls, you were really on your game the whole weekend, we're so proud of you!
Fall 2000 Girls U-9 Olympic Division Winners The Comets are the South Jersey Girls Soccer League (SJGSL) Olympic Division U-9 champions. With a 1-1 tie against TBAA in the deciding game on Saturday, December 2, the Comets just edged the TBAA Renegades by one point in overall conference standings. The Comets and Renegades have led the top of the division all season, and most knew that it would come down to this final match up of two superb teams. Early in the season, the Comets edged the Renegades 2-1 in the MLU Columbus Day tournament; however, the first meeting of the two teams in conference play, found the Renegades with a 3-0 win. It only seems fitting that the final game would end in a tie between these two equally competitive teams. The Comets end the season with a 7-1-2 record for conference play. They won three of the four tournaments entered this season. In the fourth tournament, they played up an age group and finished second in their flight. This has been an awesome season for the talented twelve. The coaches, parents, family and friends are proud of all of them. WAY TO GO COMETS! Comets Hold Their Own in First U-10 Event The MLU Comets played their first Girls U-10 tournament this past Thanksgiving weekend. The Comets played up one age level in the West Deptford Thanksgiving Soccer Tournament. The Comets won their first game against the Highland KiXX who placed at the top of the SJGSSL U-10 American division. The Comets toughest opponent was the number one SJGSSL Girls U-10 Washington Twp team. The game remained scoreless for almost 3/4 of the way through before Washington Twp scored their first goal. The game ended with the Comets losing 2-0, but showed that the Comets have a lot of what it takes to compete against top U-10 teams. The final game against Pennsauken ended in a 2-2 tie bringing the Comets tournament record to 1-1-1. The Comets showed that they are a tough team with a lot of determination and talent. They are willing to work hard to win even against all odds. Congratulations Comets on a super tournament. Despite constantly changing fields, early start times and cold weather, the Comets won the Mt. Laurel United Columbus Day Tournament. With two wins, and one tie, the Comets rallied to win allowing only one goal the entire tournament. The Comets had wins over TBAA and Cherry Hill and held off to tie Marlton 0-0 in a sunrise freezer.
