Mount Laurel United (MLU) Comets Girls U-17 Soccer

The Mt. Laurel United (MLU) Comets are a Premiere U-17 Girls team from Mt. Laurel, New Jersey and surrounding areas. The team formed in the Fall of 1999 as a U-8 team. Since then, the Comets have consistently competed at the highest level possible for their age group and have competed in the top flight of tournaments entered. They have participated in some of the most prestigious tournaments in the area including WAGS, Jefferson Cup, Disney Showcase, Las Vegas Showcase and many other tournaments where the top teams in the country play.

The Comets had an impressive U-16 season, participating at the Premier level against the best competition in the region with a 23-7-7 record. During the Comets 2007 Spring season, the Comets were finalists in the NJ National Championship State Cup. The Comets are ranked in the state of NJ, in Region 1 and nationally on nationalsoccerranking.com.
Kerri, Bridgette, Jillian, Moe, Kim, Kelsey, Jess, Stephanie, Allie, Chelsea, Angela, Carolyn, Kathleen, Carley, Sarah and Jess along with Coaches Dave, Jim and Joe are looking forward to an awesome U-17 season.

Class 2009 College Commitment
Sarah has verbally committed to Fordham University in the Bronx and Manhattan, New York. Sarah will join the Rams in the Fall of 2009. Sarah has been with the MLU Comets since it was formed in 1999. She played on the field as well as in goal. A tremendous athlete, Sarah has been the Comets primary goalkeeper for several years. She recently led her high school soccer team, Lenape, to a Group IV State Championships. Congratulations Sarah! Fordham is getting one of the "best".

Comets Undefeated at PDA College Showcase
The Comets participated in the 2008 PDA Girls College Showcase held at the at PDA Complex and Rutgers Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, 2008. They participated in the top flight against some of the top teams in the Region. The Comets went undefeated with a 3-0-1 record with wins over AJAX Storm, Syracuse FC Elite and #8 nationally ranked CFC United. Comets played to a 1-1 tie against the Beadling Inferno. Over 75 college coaches attended their games. Great job Comets!

Comets - New Jersey State Championships Finalists
This Spring, the Comets made an impressive run in the NJYS State Championships. On their way to the finals, the Comets posted wins over Jersey United Fusion, Match Fit, Roxbury Speed, and East Brunswick Rage. The Comets met a strong opponent, the PDA Fire, in the Finals, but was unable to repeat as champions losing 3-0 in a match that went scoreless deep into the second half. The Comets played stronger and stronger through each round of the championships and continued to represent their state proudly throughout the tournament. Great job Comets! First Comets College Commitment!
Jessica has verbally committed to Butler University, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jessica, who is a Junior, will join the Butler Bulldogs in the Fall of 2009. Jessica has been a stand out player on the Comets team for more than six years. She has also been a starter since her Freshman year with the Cherokee Chiefs High School soccer team. Jessica considered UConn, GW, American, Lehigh and LaSalle before making her final decision to attend Butler. Go Jess! The Comets are proud of you.

Comets Win the Las Vegas College Showcase
The Comets are the champions of the Las Vegas College Showcase which was held March 14-16, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Comets went undefeated, allowed no goals and scored the most points across all flights in route to the championship title. With impressive wins over Laguna Hills Eclipse (1-0), Neusport FC (3-0) and Colorado Storm (2-0) and a tie match against Tualatin Hills United (0-0), the Comets had a great tournament showing for the many college coaches in attendance. Great job Comets!
