Welcome to the Mt. Juliet Soccer Association
The Mount Juliet Soccer Association (MJSA) is a non-profit organization based in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. The MJSA is a recreational league whose "goal" is to teach youth about the sport of soccer while still maintaining a safe family-friendly environment. Whether a player, a parent, a coach, or an official, the emphasis should be on learning, while still having fun playing clean, competitive soccer. It is expected that only positive encouragement be given for players, at all times.
MJSA is a non-profit organization which runs entirely on the energy of its volunteers. By helping out for even a few hours during the season, you can have a big impact. Consider being an assistant coach or a team parent. The league also needs people to bring their tools and gloves on Field Cleanup Day, which is when the fields are prepared for the start of the season--there is truth to the old adage "many hands make light work. Additionally, if you or your company have a specific way to help the league, please call the League at (615)754-2380.
Age Determination
A soccer year, like a school year, includes the Fall season of one year and the Spring season of the following year.
The age of a player on or before July 31st is their age for the entire soccer year. Generally, players will only move up to the next age group in the fall. We start at age 4 and continue up to 18 years of age.
Basic Equipment
Besides the reversible jersey and matching socks purchased from the league, players will also need the following equipment:
> black shorts
> shin guards
> soccer cleats (without a toe cleat)
> a soccer ball of the correct size
>> U-6: size #3
>> U-8 thru U-12: size #4
>> U-14 and up: size #5
Players also need to bring drinking water to all their practices and games.
Soccer equipment is available for purchase at local sporting good or discount chain stores.
A Final Note
Please keep in mind that you are part of this league. Therefore, help us keep everything the way you would like to see it.
As a reminder, for safety reasons (as well as the very high replacement costs), we ask that no one hangs or climbs on the nets or goals--Please help us remind those who may not know this rule.
We look forward to having another great year. See you at the soccer field.
