It's seems like the season has just begun, but it is nearly over.  That means that the Tournament of Champions (TOC) is here for the Majors and Minors divisions.  All teams in the Majors and Minors divisions are eligible for the double elimination tournament.  The winner in each division goes to the District 33 TOC tournament which is open for the first place team in each league in the district.
Majors is holding a straight double elimination tournament with seedings based on the standings from the second half of the season.  The Angels and A's finished tied for first in the second half.  They split their two games during the second half, but the Angels won the #1 seed by having the better run differential for all games played.  The Giants finished 3rd, while the Tigers were fourth.  They will meet in the first TOC game on Tuesday, 5/30/06.  The Red Sox will be the fifth seed and will play the A's on Thursday June 1st.  To show just how truly balanced the division was this season, each team spent at least 1 day in last or tied for last place, and each team spend at least one day in first place. 
Minors will be using pool play in order to seed teams for the second week.  Two pools of 3 teams will play the first week.  This will guarantee that each team plays at least 3 games.

Update 6/9/07:  The Tigers won both games today to win the TOC championship.  They will now represent MTLL in the district tournament at our field starting on Monday, June 11th.  Come out and support the team and enjoy some good baseball.

UPDATE 6/8/07:  The Tigers and Twins will play for the championship.  Since this is double elimination and the Twins have no losses yet, the Tigers will have to beat them two times on Saturday to win the crown.  The Twins must win one of the two games to be crowned as league champs.

6/1/2007:
If the first two games are any indication, we are in for a fantastic TOC.  Both games have been 1 run games with the winning run on base when the game ended.  See the table for the latest results.

Congratulations to the Majors Cubs for wrapping up the #1 seed for TOC (Tournament of Champions, or basically the league championships) on Saturday.  They beat the Tigers 6-5 in a game that went down to the last pitch.  The Tigers will get the #2 seed and their first game will be Wednesday, May 30^th.  The #3 and #4 seeds are Orioles and Twins.  The Reds are the #5 seed.   The TOC is a double elimination tournament with the championship game (or games) on closing day.

The winner of the league TOC will advance to the District 33 TOC.  District 33 has 16 teams that will compete for the district team title.  The first week, there will be 4 groups of 4 teams that will play pool play.  This ensures that each team that qualifies for the District tournament will play at least 3 games.  After on week of pool play, the top two teams in each group will advance to a single elimination round were there will be up to 3 games in 3 nights.  The Board of Directors was informed this week that Mission Trails will be hosting the first week of pool play at our majors field.  Mission Trails will also be hosting games for the All Star tournament for 11 and 12 year olds which will begin at the end of June.

In the table below, if the Tigers win game 2 they will advance to the winner's bracket final on Tuesday June 5th.  If they lose, the Twins will advance to the finals and the Reds will play the Cubs.  Schedule will be updated nightly during TOC if possible.
