South Sub-Divisional Tournament

The great run finally came to an end on Tuesday night as the 11-12's lost 7-3 to a very solid Rancho Santa Margarita team. Connor Kleis hit a two-run homer and Josh Fitzgerald followed with a solo blast to give the boys a 3-2 lead early in the game, but Rancho rallied and kept MT off the scoreboard through the final innings.

While it's never fun to have your season come to an end, the kids of the 11-12's can hold their heads high, knowing that they have set a new standard of excellence for Mission Trails. Congrats to manager Jim Goodridge and coaches John Demko and Paul Durr for leading the team to a level that had never been reached before. Be sure to congratulate the coaches, players and families the next time you see them around the field. The team was a great symbol of what our league is capable off and what we can all work towards in the future. Thanks for a great run!

The run continues... The 11-12's rebounded from a tough loss on Sunday in their first game of the South Sub-Divisional Tournament with a big win Monday night against Corona National from District 72.  Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Garrett Jarvis hit a solo homer to put MT on the board but that was just the start. The team sent 12 men to the plate in the inning, with Josh Fitzgerald closing out the scoring with 2-run double. When the dust had settled, MT held a 7-2 lead.

That was more than enough offense for Josh as he pitched a complete game to pick up the win. The defensive highlight of the game was a spectacular catch by third baseman Garrett on a foul ball down the left field line. The win was the first ever at the Sub-Division level for a team from Mission Trails, so congrats again to the players, coaches and families on this historic event!

The team will now face Rancho Santa Margarita on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. in a rematch of Sunday's game. Come on out and watch some great baseball!

Section 6 Champs!!

The Mission Trails 11-12 All-Stars accomplished a feat on Wednesday that no Mission Trails team in recent memory has done. With a 10-3 win over Carmel Mountain Ranch, the 11-12's won the Southern California Section 6 tournament, moving them into the Southern California - South Sub-Divisional tournament this weekend. The 11-12's are now one of just 16 teams left alive in the state of California!

The game was another impressive performance, with Mission Trails jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first, thanks in part to a 2-run home run by James Burns. Connor Kleis kept Carmel Mountain Ranch in check while the offense kept putting runs on the board. A mammoth 2-run homer by Josh Fitzgerald and another home run by Tommy Goodridge supplied more power and Evan Durr came on in relief to record the final 1 1/3 innings of the game.

During the Section 6 tournament, the 11-12's outscored their opponents by a combined score of 27-8. The team is on a very special run! Congrats to the kids, coaches and families.
