MISL: Commitment to Caring
Helping Those in Need
The MISL is a League devoted to the enjoyment, recreation, and competition for its players, umpires, and spectators. We, as a League, attempt at all times to demonstrate class and integrity to maintain the quality of the League as a whole.
The MISL continues to grow and remains the best Sunday softball league in Central Massachusetts. We are also committed to the belief that as we grow, we will take an active part in our community and help those in need.
In these past years, our league has worked with some of the finest community and charitable organizations. Listed below are some of the accomplishments we are most proud of.
1. Since 2001, we have sponsored the Marlborough Youth Baseball program.
2. The 2002 Metro Cup all star series of Marlboro against Ashland was organized to help raise more than $1,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
3. Since 2003, we have sponsored Marlborough’s only Special Olympics softball team, organized as part of the Greater Marlborough Programs, Inc. In 2004 we were honored to present the team players with their own game jersey’s.
4. The 2004 league golf tournament was organized to help raise $1,600 for Nicollett and Garrott Faulkingham, who tragically lost both their parents in December of 2003 and March of 2004.
5. The 2005 league golf tournament raised $1,000 for long time league sponsor Peter Coloumbe of the Cozy Cafe, who lost his feet and hands in a medical procedure.
6. The 2006 league golf tournament raised $1,000 for the Why Max Foundation to help benefit Max Blasko, a young child diagnosed with leukemia.
7. Also in 2006, the first annual Central Mass All Star tournament was organized and played in Marlboro to help raise money for the Why Max Foundation and the Special Olympics. Teams representing Ashland, Clinton, Hudson, Leominster and Marlboro raised $1,500 for both causes.
8. Beginning in 2006, we began sponsoring Marlboro Youth Girls Softball.
9. The 2007 league golf tournament rose close to $1,000 for the Ashland league director and long time friend of our league, who lost a leg.
10. We continue to remain active with local charities, special needs organizations and foundations, donating to such organizations as the Children’s Hospital of Boston and the Our Danny Cancer Fund in Marlborough.
Our league honors those closest to us by recognizing people like Ralph Grasso Sr., Ron Blanchette, Kenny Bauks, Tim Jewel and Terry Quinn with the renaming of our yearly awards and championship trophies after them.
Each year, we continue to donate to memorials and foundations set up to recognize and honor those who had been a part of our lives.
The MISL is committed to remaining active in our community and helping those that need it. We do this because we can... and we care.
