World Series Bound!
The time off didn't hurt the Truckers at all, in fact it helped them. They picked up Friday night right where they left off, beating the Coyotes 10-6, only to come right back and beat them rather easily 7-2 Sunday morning. Not bad for a team that in both games had players rushing to the field to make it there by first pitch. TQP looks to improve upon last year's gut-wrenching defeat in the finals as they lost in the final game of the series.
To no surprise to anyone, Tommy Bergeron was named the ALCS MVP, as he held the potent Coyote offense in check with both his mixing of speeds on the mound, as well as his cat-like reflexes on the comebackers.
A valient team effort as TQP combined to hit over .600 in the series, and hopes to carry the momentum into the finals against the always powerful and exciting Pirates team. The Pirates finished the regular season in first place, and always play the Truckers tough. Red Sox vs. Yankees. Patriots vs. Colts. Bruins vs. Canadiens. Celtics vs. Lakers. Now we can add one more to the New Englad rivalries. Truckers vs. Pirates. The ESPN cameras will be there, Erin Andrews will be on the sidelines, so get your popcorn ready everyone, because if past meetings have any incling on how these games will turn out, this promises to be a series for the ages.
Monday August 24th
All is right in Trucker land on this fine Monday morning. TQP managed to squeak by Halfway and pull out the best of 3 series, 2 games to 1. With a win Friday night, confidence was high entering Sunday, however upon losing game 2, they were quickly brought down to earth. It was a series of ups and downs, but it was the veterans who helped lead the team to victory. Jim Feeney's huge 2 RBI single with the bases loaded helped push the Truckers to a 5-1 victory in game 3. When asked about the hit, he simply took a swig of his Busch Light 40 and replied "I'm not here to talk about myself, we won, and I'm already thinking about the Coyotes. It is what it is, and I'm not taking anymore questions about the past."
The other leader both on and off the field, Tommy Bergeron was named the Divisional Series MVP, after going 10-14 in the series, and held the high-powered Cafe offense to only 1 run in the final game. He also declined to speak regarding the rumors of the Hartford Whalers offering him a starting goalie spot for their comeback attempt into the NHL.
So there you have it. The Truckers move on to the next round, and look ahead at a big series with their rival Coyotes. Saturday...Saturday....Saturday!

A split of their double header has the Truckers finishing the season at 12-8 overall. Many fans in the Marlborough area claim the team is actually better than their record shows, as they have experienced a number of bumps along the way. Whether it was a player on steroids, vacation, suspension, or simply in a slump, this has been a season of ups and downs, and has lead to a number of headaches for manager Mike Bergeron. "I'm just trying to put the best team I can out there each and every week, and we can only win with what we've got." A playoff showdown with Halfway is next on the agenda for the team, and its time to play with their backs up against the wall. Some people are claiming the team is somewhat limping into the playoffs, but 2nd baseman Kenny Bergeron trounced those claims with his response: "Limping? Come on, that was a 20 game preseason. And as the great Sinatra once said, The Best is yet to come." Before the reporter could even respond, he snapped his finger, held his arms out, had his girls put his blazer on for him, and light the clove already in his mouth.
Monday August 10th
The Truckers lost a big one to the Pirates 10-4 over the weekend, and find themselves wedged in between even more teams in the log-jammed division. With a final interleague double header coming up this weekend, it is vital for them to win at least one in order to put themselves in a decent position for the playoffs.
Monday August 3rd
Another double header. Another split. The season is winding down, and the Truckers are finding it difficult to create some space atop the division. Three games remain in the regular season, and a tough three at that. The first 15,000 fans attending this week's marquee matchup against the Pirates will receive a commemorative Tommy Bergeron bobble head doll celebrating the team's 35th win since their inception in 2007.
Monday July 27th
The Truckers lost a "winnable" game to the Isotopes 17-12 yesterday, only adding to the logjam already at the top of the division. With every loss comes controversy, and this week is no different. Fans and media are starting to question the motivation of the team, and whether or not they actually have what it takes to win it this year. An unnamed source tells ESPN that Right Fielder Chris Power was overheard in the dugout telling his teammates "I just can't get my head in the game right now, and I'm tired." He was even seen walking out to his position without his glove (not that he really used it out there anyways as seen on any ball hit his way during the afternoon). A long hot day watching the team throw the game away, and they look ahead to a double header next week.
Monday July 20th
What a weekend for the Truckers! With wins of 12-4 and 9-6, they leapfrogged the Pirates and now sit atop the division as the first place squad. However, the real wins didn't take place on the field this week. Las Vegas casinos lost an estimated $2.5 million on bets for these two games alone. Die hard Trucker fans and followers put all their money on the Truckers despite being HUGE underdogs. With the only real athlete Adam Feeney away on vacation, Vegas oddsmakers had the Hudson Eagles and Image Studios teams heavily favored to win both these games over the handicapped Trucker team. Studios pitcher Adam Buckley was questioned after the game about league investigations claiming his team threw the game a la Pete Rose. He denied the claims and simply replied "Hey, I figured they were nothing without that Feeney kid too, but they somehow won without him. We did not throw the game, although I wish I put my money on them as 12 run underdogs like their fans did."
Monday June 29th
The Truckers split their double header this past weekend to roll into the holiday at 7-4 right in the middle of the pack. They will enjoy a break to get their heads in the right place, and try to put a string of W's together when the seasons resumes. And Fucci struck out looking.
Monday June 22nd
You can still hear the celebrating all the way down Rt. 20 as the men from Acapulcos partied deep into the night. They had shocked the world, but didn't shock themselves as they upset the heavyweight Truckers 10-9 with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th. A crushing blow to one of this year's favorites has put them back in the middle of the pack. A TQP team that has been rumored to be more interested in their clothes, stunning good looks, girls, booze, dogs, and money than they are in winning softball games. Comparisons to the New York Mets of the 1980s and the Dallas Cowboys of the 1990s are beginning to surface, as the team continues to spend more time being the Daryl Strawberry and Michael Irvin off the field, rather than on it. The team looks to rebound with a huge double header this coming weekend.
Monday June 8th
TQP sparked another late inning comeback as the "cardiac kids" did it again. With their never-say-die attitude, and their refuse-to-lose mentality, the Truckers forge on to a 6-2 record. Scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th walking off with a 11-10 victory. Rachel Nichols of ESPN asked Cooperstown hopeful, and star shortstop Adam Feeney about his walkoff hit in the bottom of the 7th. Feeney replied "Lets be honest Rachel...may I call you Rachel? These guys are lucky to have me. I miss a game last week to be with my wife and kids, and they lose. I play today, and we have a win like this. Adam Feeney is only one man, only one man. I mean, I'm the only winner on this team, the rest of them are losers. Either by choice, or by birth. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some puppy poop to clean up."
Monday June 1st
The Truckers were handed their second loss on the young season as they fell to Halfway Cafe 11-8. Still sitting at 5-2 amongst the leaders in the division, the team isn't worried yet, and looks to bounce back next week. The talk in the locker room wasn't about wins and losses, or standings this week however. The media swarmed future Hall of Famer Justin Power and bombarded him with questions regarding his recent steroid use allegations. Reports of him training with the likes of Manny Ramirez, Jose Canseco, and Sammy Sosa have surfaced, yet Power continues to deny. It is even said that he wears number 99 in honor of his suspended long-time friend Manny of the Dodgers to show his support. For the time being, Power is denying all claims, and refused to speak without the consent of his agent Scott Boras, but did say this: "Softball has been very very good to me, and I did not take steroids...period."
Monday May 18th
The Mutha Truckers continued their hot start after squeaking by the Wolfpak 13-6. Beginning the season 5-1 is nothing new to this team as they are used to hot starts in April and May. With a week off now to rest up, the Truckers will take the field again later this month. One person however wasn't on board in this week's win. Star left fielder Chris Fucci was confronted by reporters after the game in regards to rumors of his binge drinking the night before the game. One reporter asked "Mr. Fucci, is it true that you were stumbling around and drinking heavily into the wee hours of the morning, thus leading to your first inning strike out with the bases loaded?" Fucci had no comment, but instead reached for the bottle of Jack Daniels on the top shelf of his locker, and headed for the shower.
Monday May 11th
Can't win 'em all. The Mutha Truckers were given their first loss on the season at the hands of the Green Dawgs 20-11, but were able to bounce back with a big win over the Pirates in the second game. Beginning the year at 4-1, the Truckers find themselves in familiar territory, but team coach Mikey Bergeron says there is still more to come: "Yeah, we started out last year real hot but cooled off in the middle of the season, and we're just hoping to keep things going the way they are. It is a marathon, not a sprint, but I figure if I keep hitting home runs, we can't lose!"
Monday May 4th
The Mutha Truckers continue their early success with two crucial wins over The Eagles and Lobsters on Sunday. It appears they have picked up right where they left off last year as they begin the young season 3-0, however they are fully aware that there is a lot left to be done.
Monday April 27th
The 2009 season starts out on the right foot with an incredible 10 run 7th inning comeback to help boost the Mutha Truckers over the rival Black Sox 12-9. The team hopes to carry the momentum into a huge double header next weekend.
