8/16 - Split Doubleheader, Bring on the Playoffs

Halfway - 4, Isotopes - 3
Image Studios - 9, Halfway - 3

Well, we didn't exactly score a ton of runs, but we managed to win one of the games.  Rich had a big home run in the top of the 7th in the first game.  Lonnie, Frank, and Luis followed that up with hits for another insurance run.  Both were needed as we gave up 2 in the bottom of the inning, but we held on for the 4-3 victory.  In the second game, we were just flat - and I don't think it had anything to do with the lack of beer between games.

Hitting stars for the 2 games were:

Rich: 4 hits, HR, 2 RBI
Frank: 4-4
Lonnie: 3 hits

8/9 - Another Extra Inning Explosion

Halfway - 12, Acapulco's - 6  (8 Innings)

This is the second time this year that we scored a bunch of runs in the 8th inning.  The game was tied at 5 after 7 innings.  We then scored 7 runs in the top of the 8th.  (Maybe we should try doing that earlier in the game...  Just a thought.)  Alan started it off with a hit.  Then, after a fielder's choice, we got 5 hits in a row.  Frank topped it off with a 2-run triple that just crushed them.  Hitting stars were:

Rookie: 4-4
Doug: 2 hits, 3 RBI
"Everybody Loves Rudes": 3 hits
Frank and Norty: 2 hits and 2 RBI each

8/2 - Two Big Wins!!!

Halfway - 19, Coyotes - 7
Halfway - 8, Vanguard - 4

I'm a little late in entering this game summary because of vacation, but I have to do it because these were two big wins against two good teams.  We needed these wins to put us in good playoff position.  Everyone played well.  In the first game, we hit and hit and hit.  We scored in every inning.  And we played our usual good defense.  In the second game, we faced a tough pitcher but scored enough runs to win.  The defense was excellent.  We did well to hold both of those teams to single digits.  The hitting stars of the day were:

Game 1:

Rookie: 4 hits and 5 runs scored
Norty: 3 hits and 4 RBI
Cedes: 3 hits and 3 RBI
Doug: 2 hits and 6 RBI (with a small amount of creative scorekeeping)
Rich and Brian: 3 hits each

Game 2:

Cedes: 2 hits and 4 RBI
Frank: 2 hits and 2 RBI
Rich and Rookie: 2 hits each
