Miramonte Takes Dublin 11 to 3
Dublin was the site for the second DFAL game for our Miramonte Matadors. The first game was Tuesday against Los Lomas with Miramonte being victorious 5 to 0.
The weather couldn't have been nicer especially considering what we dealt with last year. The top of the first inning started off with our lead off batter Will Bourgein getting on with a single and a stolen base to put him on second. That was followed by a walk by Joey Epperson. With Taylor Lee up Will was caught stealing for the first out. Taylor hit a single and scored Joey. Robbie St. Lezin flew out but Alex Vidal hit a high fast ball over the right field fence for a home run! John Vaccaro got on by error, followed by a single by Max Mayeri and a walk by Andrew Riven Mike Reuvenkamp grounded out to second to end the inning with Miramonte scoring 3 runs. John Vaccaro took the mound in the bottom of the first striking out the first two batters. #3 batter walked and #4 grounded out to second to end the inning.
The second inning Will lead off with a walk, followed by Joey being hit by a pitch. With runners on first and second Taylor got on by error to load the bases. Two strike outs followed but Will was able to score, John was hit by a pitch. The inning ended with a strike out but Miramonte scored one run. The bottom of the second inning the #5 batter was HBP, #6 was walked, #7 got on my error to load the bases for Dublin. The #8 batter grounded out to SS with the runner on third scoring. The #9 batter walked to load the bases again but the #1 batter flew out to first. With two out the #2 batter hit a fielders choice to end the inning.
The third inning for Miramonte started out with a strike-out and a fly-out. Will hit a single but was caught stealing to end the inning. The bottom of the third the #3 batter struck out, #4 hit a single but was caught in a pickle for the second out. The #5 batter flew out to end the inning.
The forth inning Miramonte went scoreless with a strike-out, a single by Taylor who was thrown out at second on a fielders choice and then a strike out to end the top of the inning. The bottom for Dublin started out with a fly out followed by a triple. It did them no good however, with the next two batters flying out and striking out to end the inning.
The fifth inning our bats came alive again. John hit a single followed by two stolen bases, Max hit a double scoring John but was caught stealing between 2nd and 3rd for the first out, Andrew grounded out to 3rd for the second out. Steve Church walked. With two outs Will hit a single scoring one, Joey hit another single and Taylor hit a double, scoring two. The inning ended with a strike out but Miramonte was able to add 4 to the score. The bottom of the fifth the #1 batter walked, #2 flew out, #3 singled, #4 grounded out to short and #5 flew out. Dublin was able to score one.
The 6th inning we stared off with a fly-out, strike out followed by a single by Max. Andrew was HBP but the inning ended with a ground out. The bottom of the 6th Dublin had no luck changing the score with a ground out, fly out and strike out to end the inning.
The top of the 7th Miramonte add to their score with a walks by Sam Warner, Joey, and Taylor. Robbie had a great at bat ending up with a double to score 2 runs. Alex hit a sac fly to score Taylor. The inning ended with a fly out and strike out but Miramonte was able to score 3. The bottom of the 7th the first batter was HBP to take first. The second batter hit into a double play with a great play from Mike Reuvenkamp to Joey Epperson to Alex Vidal. The next batter hit a single but it did them no good as the next batter flew out to end the inning.
