Curtis Construction Company, Inc. provides construction services to

private sector clients including schools, colleges and churches.

Our success is based on applying our staff's substantial professional

experience on large projects to the small to mid-sized project market.

Larger firms fail to give small projects proper attention and smaller

firms fail to provide proper expertise. We provide the benefits of both.

Frequently we are hired when the larger firms are too expensive and

the smaller firms cannot provide competent administration and

supervision for a small, sensitive, technical project.

In a short span of time Curtis Construction Company has developed a

solid reputation for dependability and performance with some of the

area's leading institutions.

Milton, Massachusetts

About the Boston Irish Tourism Association

In 2000, we decided the time was right to create a unique new tourism program celebrating local culture and heritage in Massachusetts.

We tapped into a unique community of cultural, social and genealogy groups, dance studios, academic programs, and annual events that emphases the Irish-American community of Massachusetts and the state cultural community at-large.

We combined this program with the state’s equally vibrant travel and hospitality industry -- hotels, travel agencies, gift shops, museums, concert venues, pubs and restaurants, and the result was the Boston Irish Tourism Association.

Today we have over 120 active members from all across the state, dedicated to offering visitors an enjoyable, enriching experience when they come to Massachusetts.

Our goal is to make it easy for visitors – and local residents – to easily get immersed in the state’s wonderful range of cultural activities, and to take advantage of the hospitality amenities available to travelers.

Some of the things we do at BITA:

We work with the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism, the offices of the Governor and Lt. Governor, the State House Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and regional tourism councils across the state to promote Massachusetts as a tourist destination year round.
We provide information to the general public, tour operators, incoming convention groups and the media about upcoming events and activities of our members.
We advise visitors on where to stay, where to dine or to shop, where to have a pint, see a concert, check out a traditional session, and how to get from Boston to the Berkshires, or from Canada to the Cape. If you have a question, send us an email, call or write us and we’ll try to answer it for you.
We profile scores of musicians, dancers, artists, writers, storytellers, filmmakers, chefs, photographers and others who help fuel the creative economy in Massachusetts.
We represent and provide information on other destinations such as Ireland, Quebec City, Prince Edward Island and New Hampshire, all of which share a common interest in culture and hospitality.
We strengthen travel ties among the United States, Canada and Ireland by working closely with government agencies and travel specialists.
We distribute three magazine issues a year – the Irish Food & Culture Guide each March, and the Travel & Culture Guide each June and November, to visitor information centers throughout the state for travelers to take.
We partner with Tourism Ireland to host an Irish Food & Culture celebration each March that brings select master chefs from Ireland to Boston, where they join with local chefs for a week of culinary events in hotels and restaurants.
Our Irish Heritage Trail walking tour takes visitors and school groups along nearly 300 years of the Irish experience in Boston. We have compiled over 70 Irish landmarks throughout Massachusetts.
Our booklet, Finding Your Irish Roots in Massachusetts, guides you through genealogy resources throughout the state.

Robyn's Bar and Grill

Get Map to Robyn's Bar and Grill 4195 Washington Street
Roslindale, Massachusetts
02131
As Roslindale becomes increasingly known as a dining destination, a new restaurant has joined the mix.

Robyn’s Bar and Grill celebrated its grand opening last weekend, taking over the space on Washington Street that was previously occupied by the Game Day Pub.

Unlike its predecessor, Robyn’s is branded as a family-friendly neighborhood establishment that includes a full dining room in addition to a bar with a separate entrance.

Robyn’s owners, Kevin O’Shea of Qunicy, and Anne and Mike Reddington of Milton, met through youth travel basketball in Milton, and hope that their neighbors will be as excited to have them as they are to finally be open.

“Kevin and I wanted to make sure it was a place that people would want to go to,” said Reddington, adding that he was proud to make an investment in the community. They also plan to sponsor Parkway Little League and get involved in other civic activities.

“We’re both city kids, and we know what it means to be a good neighbor,” said O’Shea.

“It’s a place that Roslindale should be proud of,” said Reddington, who named his new establishment after his sister, Robin, who passed away when he was a child. He chose to use the British spelling of Robyn to prevent people from thinking about the bird.

“The neighborhood is really excited about [Robyn’s]. I just can’t get over the change taking place,” said Bob Mason, a Roslindale resident who lives within walking distance of the restaurant.

“People in Roslindale are looking for reasonably priced food. You can come here and watch a game and bring your kids,” said restaurant manager Sue Rooney, 22.

Rooney, who described herself as born and raised in Rozzie, added that when she was growing up, she never would have dreamed of being to be able to work at a place such as Robyn’s only a few blocks from home.

The bar, which is separate from the restaurant’s dining room, currently contains six plasma televisions. More are in the works, and some will eventually be placed in the dining room. The owners also hope to add more seating as the business grows. The 4,400-square-foot restaurant seats 60 people in the spacious dining room and 36 in and around the bar.

“The separate entrance to the dining room was made with families in mind,” said O’Shea, who added that together, he and the Reddington’s have six kids.

“I couldn’t imagine Mike and I owning a place that [didn’t welcome kids.] Our friends are thrilled to death about this place because they have a place to go,” said O’Shea.

And although Robyn’s owners are rookies in the restaurant business, that didn’t prevent them from hiring an experienced chef and creating a mouth-watering menu.

Head chef Mark Marenghi, who calls his staff the “Funky Bunch” after the 1990s pop group, cooks up a wide variety of palate-pleasers. Among them are the St. Louis rack of smoked ribs and a smoked turkey club. But what makes the smoked specialties spectacular is the fact that they are prepared in an authentic southwest smoker box that made its way north.

Other notable menu items include Mike’s Mad wings, that are from a secret family recipe, and the fried clams that are from Ipswich and come lightly battered with tartar sauce on the side.

“We have regular food with a gourmet twist,” said Mike Reddington.

“These are Ipswich whole belly clams. I love those things,” added O’Shea, who is also a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury.

Also found on the menu are basic burgers for $6.95, fish and chips for $9.50, grilled sirloin for $17.50 and a variety of wood-grilled pizzas made with the freshest ingredients such as imported prosciutto. Pizza prices range from $9 to $11.

There is also a menu for kids that include pint-sized portions of burgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers.

“There’s five highchairs in here already,” said Reddington during the restaurant’s “soft” opening last Friday night.

Equally important, according to Mike, a self-proclaimed wine lover, is the beverage selection at Robyn’s. In addition to having a coveted full liquor license in a neighborhood where they are sparse, there are 10 draft beers on tap, including Guinness, Magic Hat, Sam Adams and Grolsch.

Robyn’s also boasts a well-rounded wine list with white and red selections from places such as California, Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy and Chile. Wine is available by the glass and by the bottle.

With the full menu and bountiful beverage selection, it is easy to stuff yourself before dessert. But at Robyn’s, the last course is one worth saving room for.

There’s a classic New York cheesecake and a homemade chocolate cake, but the signature dessert is named The Jimme.

The Jimme, pronounced “Gym-A,” is an adult version of an ice cream sandwich. The dessert, which takes 20 minutes to prepare, includes a warm chocolate chip cookie that has been freshly baked in a miniature skillet. The cookie is then topped with ice cream, and servers recommend adding a splash of Kaluha
