MUSTANG'S VARSITY STAYS PERFECT 9-0 AND WINS QYFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

Milton Mustangs    24
Houghs Neck Manets   6

HARD WORK PAYS OFF! The Mustang program is more about life lessons than football. At the core of the program is continual reinforcement of the qualities that all players will need to get an education, job and be a contributing member of society. On August 8, the hard work started and didn’t stop until the final whistle of the QYFL championship game against the Houghs Neck Manets, Sunday, Nov. 13. The Manets came ready to play with a game plan to stop the Mustang inside running game, a running game that has helped produce 220 points while the Mustang defense has only given up 32 points. With the Manets putting eight or nine in the box (on or near the line of scrimmage) the stage was set for an epic battle in the trenches, linemen on lineman, hog on hog. In the first half, the Manets scored first on a long pass over the middle. Then, with less than one minute to the half, the Mustangs scored and got the two point conversation. At half time, with the score 8-6, Mustang adjustments were needed to get the Mustang offensive in high gear and the adjustments worked. The Mustangs offense controlled the ball the second half of the game with good clock management keeping the Manet defense on the field and using the Mustangs’ outstanding conditioning to their advantage. All three Mustang scores were on the ground and all two point conversation attempts were successful. Final score: Mustangs 24 - Manets 6.

It has been the Mustang policy not to recognize individual Mustang players for the simple reason: THERE IS NO “I” IN TEAM! But I would like to recognize the following eighth graders players who are leaving the Mustangs program: Remember - “Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang” - Billy Mearn, Liam Greaney, Maduka Nwanekezi, Ryan Barrett, Ryan Smith, Sean Adley, Alex Russian, Brian Cassis, Danny Carroll, Greg Murphy, John Henry Krauss, Justin Stancato, Mark Douglas, Mike Feeney, Vince Ryan, “Mustang for Life!”
