Eagle Feeder Teams meet in Championship Game The National and American teams met in the Championship of the Hooch Classic Tournament this weekend. The Nationals advanced to the Championship game by coming from 1 run behind in the bottom of the 7th to steal a victory from the host Chattahoochee Cougars. The Americans advanced to the finals by coming from 2 runs behind in the bottom of the 7th to defeat a solid East Side Raider Team.
American The American Eagles won the Hooch Classic this weekend. In the first game, the Eagles had to play the East Side Raiders. After playing from behind all day, the Eagles tied the game at 2 in the 5th inning only. The game was tied going into the bottom of the 7th. With Dalton Ewing on 3rd, 1 out and 2 strikes, Sean Ryan Brophy dropped down a very timely bunt allowing Dalton to score from 3rd for the win. In game #2, the Eagles faced Blessed Trinity. Eric Pollman threw a complete game while the Eagles posted the victory. In the first bracket game, the Eagles opened against Centennial. The Eagles posted a 4 inning victory. In the semi-final game, the Eagles again squared off against the East Side Raiders. The Raiders again jumped out to a 1 run lead and it remained that way until they went up by 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th, the Eagles utilized an error in left field with 2 outs to keep the inning going and eventually score the winning run to defeat the Raiders 3 - 2. In the Championship game, the American and the Nationals played an outstanding game. This bodes well for the future of the Milton High School Program. In a game much closer than the score, the Americans defeated the Nationals 11-5.
American
Triple Crown State Champs (Silver) Congrats to the Eagles for a solid performance through the Silver Bracket of the Triple Crown State Tournament. After getting in to bracket play, the Eagles played very well in all 3 games. In the first game of the bracket, the Eagles defeated the East Cobb Yankees 18-7. In the semi-final game the Eagles were victorious in a 12-9 game over the Sandy Plains Trojans. In the finals, the Eagles won the Championship with a 5-1 victory over the Home Plate Chilidogs.
American 2009 NWBA Elite Division Champs The Eagles played outstanding baseball throughout the weekend to win the NWBA tournament this weekend. The opening game was between both Milton HS Feeder Teams, the Americans and Nationals. Solid pitching by Matt Phillips kept the Nationals at bay most of the game. A HR by Nick Bradshaw was the highlight of the hitting for the evening. The Americans defeated the pesky Nationals 9 - 4. In the 2nd game, the Eagles squared off against the Alpharetta Raiders. A solid outing by Michael Messier produced a 4 inning, no-hit, shutout. The Eagles won 8 - 0. In the Championship game, the Eagles faced the always tough West Cobb Rays. Corey Helms opened the game on the mound, throwing 4 strong innings, followed by Michael Messier, who closed out the victory. The Eagles scored 7 in the bottom of the 5th to seal the win 11 - 4.
American 2009 Battle at the Bridge Champions The Eagles battled the elements as well as 4 solid opponents to win the 2009 Championship. After the 1st game, the Eagles only allowed 3 run against some very good teams. They were well rounded victories consisting of solid pitching, strong defense and very good bats. Congrats to the guys for a well played tournament!
