In a very well played game the Blue came back to tie the White 13-13 on Sunday. White struck first and fast as Oliver C launched a long pass down the sideline that was gathered in by Jarrett at the 20-yard-line. He then did the rest on his own, outrunning the defense into the end zone for a 6-0 lead. The Blue offense had a hard time getting untracked and gave the ball back to White. White scored again, and with a one point conversion made it a 13-0 lead. Blue finally got rolling and found the end zone as time was running out in the half. At halftime the score stood at 13-6. The halftime highlight saw the coaches and players all gather around the radio to listen to the final 3 outs of the Red Sox game 4 win over the Athletics in the ALDS. Then it was back to football. The second half was a defensive struggle as the teams moved but could not score. With just over five minutes to play, the Blue got the ball for one last try. Grant led a patient drive as he used short passes to push the ball downfield. He found paydirt with a 10-yard pass to Peter L in the corner of the end zone. A one-point conversion tied the score at 13-13. White managed one first down before being forced to punt. With a minute and one half left Blue drove back downfield, reaching the 20-yard line with four seconds left. Grant lofted a desperation pass to the end zone which was batted around by three players before Patrick hauled it in and attempted to bring it all the way back for White. His valiant effort was finally stopped at the 50-yard line and the teams settled for a hard fought tie. White Pulls Out 19-13 Win in Week 2! White pulled out a 19-13 win on Sunday in a game that wasn’t decided until the final minute. The first score of the day came from the defense as Blue’s Andrew picked off a pass and weaved his way for a 40-yard return for a touchdown. Andrew then threw for the one point conversion to Jarod for a 7-0 lead. Oliver H. then drove the White team down the field for a score, with the touchdown coming on a pass from Oliver to Patrick. After an exchange of punts Andrew launched a long pass hauled in by Pete C, who took it in at the ten and ran it in to complete the 40-yard play for a 13-6 Blue lead. Oliver H and the White squad took the ball with two minutes left before halftime and put together an impressive drive with a 5-yard pass from Oliver to Daniel for the touchdown with four seconds left in the half. The conversion pass to Patrick made it 13-13 at the midpoint of the game. The game became a defensive struggle in the second half. Both teams had spurts down the field but both defenses forced turnovers or punts to end the drives. The White finally broke through when David found Luke in the end zone as Luke out jumped two defenders to pull in the ball. Blue made one last effort as they drove to the White 5-yard line, but an interception by Luke in the end zone ended the drive and allowed White to run out the clock and come away with a hard earned 19-13 victory. |
