Millis Flag Football The Millis Flag Football Club is in our fifth season of offering flag football to residents of Millis and area towns! The season started on 9/11/10! Here is the schedule!
The first half of the schedule is available under the Handouts tab at left. The complete schedule will be posted soon! ll games are played at the Clyde Brown School off of Spring Street in Millis. The home team is listed first and will wear DARK colored jersey while the visiting team wears WHITE. Field 4 is closest to the Mobil station. All games will begin promptly at the top of the hour and end by :10 before the top of the hour! Please have your team ready to go by :10 before the top of the hour! Your cooperation keeps our program running smoothly! See below for team names and numbers!!! The balance of the schedule will be up later this week! Registration is closed. Please check the web site here for details of all Millis Flag Football functions. Registration this year is a little different than in the past...please go to: www.nflflag.com and click on Parent Resources then Join a league - this will ask you for a zip code...then click on Millis Flag. This will treat you as a first time regsitrant..Active is no longer involved...follow the prompts!!! You may also go to this link: Millis Flag Football is an alternative to full-contact 11 on 11 football but it is still competitive and contact does happen if inadvertantly! In 2010 we will offer the same program we have offered our first four years where everyone gets a chance to play every position and everyone gets a turn to run, throw and catch... In addition - by participant request - we will have competitive travel teams who will have the opportunity to compete in the regional and national tournaments. These will be select teams requiring an additional cost (tournament entry, travel & hotel costs) and additional practice and game time commitments. We welcome your feedback at millisflag@verizon.net Thanks again for your support of our program! The program will be substantially the same in 2010 as it has been the last four years! Age groups will be 5&6, 7&8, 9-11 and 12 +! Birth certificates are required for all new participants and should be presented at evaluations which will be announced! No player will be placed on a team without a birth certificate on file and a paid registration! Congratulations to all of the players and coaches - and THANKS to the coaches - for a great 2009 season!
BUDDY BOWL is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 2010! Additional schedule information will be available under the handouts tab now as a download! Please go to the Buddy Bowl web site at www.buddybowl.org for more information and to register! Buddy Bowl is for adults too! Get a team together and join in the fun! The season starts on September 11th and will go until November 6th. We plan to have each team play 8 games. In the event of inclement weather we may extend the season a week to November 13th. Football is played in the rain. If there is a hurricane or another extraordinary weather event, or if the field is under water, we will post changes to the schedule here and email a notification.
We have done something new with regard to jerseys this year. While 5 & 6 year olds will all receive Patriots jerseys, the players in the 7 & 8 year old and 9 to 11 and 12 to 14 year old groups will wear different NFL team jerseys. Coaches have jerseys for each player - the jerseys are labeled with each player's name...please give jerseys only to the player named on the package. Registration tips: 1. The info we are looking for - age, DOB, jersey size, etc., is for your child. 2. Your child's eligibility is as of 9/1/10 - their age on that date - per the NFL - copies of birth certificates for participants who have not provided them in the past should be brought to evaluations. 3. We are unable to honor teammate or coach requests - we will try to place kids from the same town with other kids from that town. 4. Jersey sizes are youth or adult as specified. You may want to order a jersey/t-shirt that is slightly larger than you normally would to accommodate a turtleneck or sweatshirt in the cold weather. Please remember to enter a size that will fit your child. We are not able to call every participant to check on sizes nor are we able to change sizes once entered. 5. Please email millisflag@verizon.net with any questions. Watch this space for more information on Buddy Bowl - "football for charity" - coming to Millis on Saturday, November 20, 2010! This tournament will give everyone the chance to participate so dust off your playbook, polish your cleats and get in shape! Adult as well as youth divisions! Check out the website at http://www.buddybowl.org/ This turnament is for FUN and charity - so bring the right attitude - there is no whining...!!! If you whine or don't have the right "Buddy" attitude you will not be invited back! You could also win the Golden Pacifier award!!! Early registration closes on May 31st. Registration during this period is $60.00 per player. Registration after May 31st will be $85.00 per player and will close on June 30th. Millis Flag Football Travel Program This program will involve additional costs as well as an additional time and travel commitment. This program is for experienced players who want to take their game to the next level. Any player wishing to participate in this program must register for the regular fall program by April 30, 2010. This is a select program and players are selected by the coaches based on past experience. Here are the details from the email that went out: If you would like to volunteer to help in any way in 2010 please email the administrator at millisflag@verizon.net. Please include a subject line of: Volunteer - Coach or Volunteer - Field management, etc.
