Mill Creek Little League: Welcome

Mill Creek Little League

Dear Parents,
It was a tough way to end the season. Two weeks worth of rain outs and no closing ceremony. Two good things came out of the rain, you didn't have to listen to one of my speeches at the closing ceremony and no coaches got hurt with the softball game rained out. Even though we were rained out, our season was a huge success. We expanded the number of fields we are able to utilize for practices, we have two new divisions(softball and Jr. League baseball), the addition of batting cages, field conditions continue to improve(but they can improve even more). For the first time, we will have two allstar teams. A 9-10 year old baseball team and a 11-12 year old baseball team. This is the first time we are able to field an 11-12 year old team.
Our concession stand was a huge success and I want to thank Chris Southworth and Michael and Gail Dickens for all of their hard work in managing the stand and keeping it stocked. I also want to thank all of the parents that volunteered in the stand this season. The concession stand has provided us with enough funds that we can continue to invest and improve our facilities. One note, Chris will be leaving us for fall season(the boys are playing football) and she will be extremely difficult to find a successor for. We will miss you in the fall Chris, thank you for all of the time you dedicated to the league.
Another large part of the funds is all of the fundraising we had this year. Laurie Garner did a wonderful job. And the fund raising is still going on. We still have 86 tickets to sell for the June 19th Suns Game. If you are interested, please let us know.
One other person that I wanted to give a special thank you to at the ceremony was Chris Tutt. Chris is the League Treasurer, but he does so much more than just handle the money for us. Chris jumps in on the website, registrations, helping out with Little League filings, equipment and an endless list of other items he helps out on. As a thank you, the League is giving Chris a gift card to MLB.com.
Besides improving on our fields for the fall, we hope to expand our league even more this fall. We hope to have a majors division in softball and maybe even a Jr. League in softball. We hope to expand our majors baseball division to three teams and possibly having two divisions in tee ball.
See I got my speech in. Stay in tune with the website, Fall Ball registration should be opening the first week in July.
