Friday, July 3 Mill Creek Eliminated by Pacific, 18-17 The Mill Creek girls waged a valiant battle tonight, but fell short to a very good Pacific All Star team on their home turf. Mill Creek led for much of the game with some very aggressive and timely hitting from the entire team. Mill Creek lost their opening game 11-0 to this same Pacific team. They have improved immensely during this tournament and can look forward to much success in the years to come.
Thursday, July 2 Mill Creek beats Stanwood-Camano 16-10 The 9/10 year-old girls continued to battle back with a win over Stanwood-Camano. Kristen led the offense today with two solid doubles. Shayla, Kristina and Taylor also added big hits. Ally and Adele came up with big defensive plays today. Ally, playing catcher, defended against the delayed steal perfectly, walking the ball back to the pitcher, then cutting down the runner at third base. In the last inning with the bases loaded, Adele fielded a hard hit ball in right-field and threw out the runner at first base with a perfect throw. Taylor pitched three strong innings, including an outstanding job of closing the game out in the sixth. WAY TO GO LADIES!!
Tuesday, June 30 Mill Creek beats Alderwood in 7 innings, 18-17 On Monday night, Mill Creek and Alderwood battled for 3½ hours to a 17-17 tie In a game suspended by darkness. Ally, Meadow and Taylor led the offense, each driving in multiple runs with extra base hits. The game resumed on Tuesday afternoon. Emily reached base on an error to lead off the seventh inning, then promptly stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the sevnth, Taylor struck out the first batter on 3 pitches. The second batter then ripped a triple to deep center field. Kristina prevented a home run by getting the ball back in quickly. With a runner on third and one out, it looked like Alderwood was destined to at least tie the game, if not win it in the seventh. But Taylor had other ideas, as she proceeded to strike out the 4 & 5 batters in the batting order! WAY TO GO LADIES!!
