Milan Youth League: Welcome

What Level is Right for Your Child? 

Age groups for each division (Softball and Baseball) are:

• T-Ball: 5-6 year olds
• Pee Wee: 7-8 year olds
• Minors: 9-10 year olds
• Majors: 11-12 year olds
• 14U: 13-14 year olds 

To find the right division of play for your child, use how old they were on the League Age Date.  The League Age Date is 4/30/12 for T-Ball and Baseball, and 12/31/11 for Softball. Your child MUST be 5 years old on or before 4/30/12 to be eligible to play T-Ball. Likewise, your player must meet the age requirement for each of the following levels of play by the league date for their group as well.

• T-Ball: Players will be assigned to teams and provided a uniform. At the end of the season they will receive an award at the T-Ball awards ceremony. Games will start on Opening Day, May 5th, and will consist of one or 2 games a week.
• Pee Wee, Minors, Majors: Players will be assigned onto teams that they played for the previous season or placed onto teams. All teams will receive awards in Pee Wee, Minors and Majors. Games may start April 30th , but for sure by Opening Day, May 5th and teams will generally play two games a week. Minors and Majors will play inter-league with Lincoln. Some travel will be required.
• 13/14: Recreational travel team that will travel to, at least the following communities but may include more, Dexter, Manchester, Ypsilanti, and Belleville. Practices will generally be held twice a week beginning April 1st.

Registration Policies

New Players: Please provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate with the registration form (to be kept on file).

T-Ball: Players should register as early as possible so we can determine the number of teams and coaches needed. The T-Ball Coordinator will divide up the teams with an equal number of 5 and 6 year olds on each team. If you have questions, please contact Carrie Ritchie (MYL T-Ball Coordinator) at 734-434-2719.

T-Ball, Pee Wee, Minors, Majors: Players must register by the deadline (in time for the draft) so that their names are available for the draft. Players who sign up after the deadline will be charged a $20 late fee, and no registrations will be accepted after the draft as teams will have been established.

Uniforms: There will be sample uniforms available for each league at Walk-In Registration. Parents are responsible for specifying the correct size uniform for their child. The uniform size selected on the registration form will be final and the league will not be responsible if the selected size does not fit correctly. Please fit your child for the correct uniform size at Walk-In Registration if you have any doubts.

Three Ways to Register

1. Mail the bottom potion of this form with a copy of your child’s birth certificate (new player only) and fees to: Milan Youth League / P.O. Box 86 / Milan, MI 48160
2. Walk-In Registration will be held on four evenings at the west end of the Milan Senior Center, located behind the Milan Police Station. Monday, March 5th and Friday, March 9 (SOFTBALL DEADLINE) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, March 19th and Friday, March 23rd (T-BALL/BASEBALL DEADLINE) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
