My name is Angela Lenhardt and I'm excited to be coaching Tot Soccer again this year. I played soccer for about 13 years and have been coaching for the last 5 years. To me, the time to get kids (and more importantly the parents) interested in soccer is when they are very young. An organized but fun Tot program keeps families coming back year after year and develops good soccer skills from a very early age. Our Tot program is intended to keep everyone active, but not be pressured to compete at this young age.
We run our program mostly for 3 and 4 year olds. We have had 2 year olds sign up, but that is a temperament thing--some kids are ready for organized activity, some are not. Click on the link for Fall Registration to register online for any age, including tot soccer. You will also find information regarding start dates and fees by using that link.
The tot program is pretty relaxed--you only need to bring your smile and some water to keep those future all-stars hydrated. Balls are provided. Players should leave their balls at home, since they are rarely a size 3 and it causes a lot of tears when they can't use the ball they brought. Players are not required to have cleats or shin guards, however, they are recommended. If shin guards are worn, they should be covered with long socks or sweatpants. Each player will receive a uniform shirt. Please have your child dress appropriately for the weather and be ready to go at the start time. Tot Soccer is only on Saturday mornings--there are no weekday practices--at the Sanford Rd soccer fields. We play in all weather, except storms with lightning.
Parents, these sessions require your participation with your child. A responsible adult must accompany the player at all times--families with multiple players should make arrangements to meet this requirement. I will give group instruction, and then assist you and your child. In general, there is about 10 minutes of warm up, 30 minutes of skills development with a parent and the final 10-15 minutes is set aside for a scrimmage. The scrimmage only requires cheering and keeping the ball in play.
I look forward to meeting all of you!
