DIVISION II CHAMPIONS

The first ever Division II championship games were held on November 12, 2011 at Blanco High School.  Championship games in Freshman, Jr. Varsity and Varsity division ended the first MYFL season with the Division II classification. The Division II is made up with teams from the Canyon Lake, Helotes, Wimberley, Blanco and Marble Falls Associations. These teams competed mostly within their division with a few inter-divisional games with Division I opponents. This Saturday marked the conclusion of the inagural Division II season.

In the Freshman Division Marble Falls had both of their Freshman teams in the finals. The final score ended with Marble Falls (Purple) coached by Larry Skero defeating the Marble Falls (White) team coached by Ryan Aiken, with a narrow 12-6 victory.

The Jr. Varsity game matched the visiting Canyon Lake Hawks coached by Charles Slater against the Wimberley Texans coached by Chance Crowder. In a game decided by great plays from both sides, the Texans pulled away with a 20-6 victory completing a perfect10-0 season.

The day ended with the Varsity game between the visiting Wimberley Texans coached by Cody Wagner and the home Canyon Lake Hawks coached by Jim Sheppard. The 22-6 final score does not show the just how close the game was on the field.

After each game Cory Martelli, Vice President forDivision II, presented trpohies to both teams. The new Traveling Championship Trophy was also presented to winning association. The "Traveling" trophy is inscribed with the name of the winning team and coach. This "Traveling" trophy stays with the defending champion to be awarded to the champion of the following season. The "Traveling" trophy was created to inspire furtue teams, remember past champions and serve as a living history of Mid-Tex Youth Football League.

The Mid-Tex Board of Directors wants to congratulate and thank everyone for your efforts to make this season an overwhelming success.

NEW TEAM ALIGNMENT OF 2011 SEASON

Mid-Tex Youth Football League has re-aligned for the 2011 season. This year teams are aligned by the size of their parent Association. Associations with more 8 or more tackle teams will compete in Division I. Associations with 7 or less tackle teams will compete in Division II. There will be some regular season inter-divisional games. Each Division will have it's own playoffs and season champion. This change was made to allow smaller hill country and central Texas communities the opportunity to compete with similar size programs.

Flag teams will still have North and South Conference for travel consideration.
