Sunday, October 18 Field Projects at FNWLL There are ongoing projects being implemented this off-season as FNWLL is trying to continually improve the playing fields and complex amenities. Current projects are as follows: 1) New Ceiling in Breezeway between the bathrooms and concession area. The breezeway sophets were coming down too easily so Plywood was put in place and painted. Keith Nelson oversaw this project to completion. 2) New Dugouts at Dietz. The current dugouts at the Dietz Major field are starting to crack and fall in. Project bids have been made and the existing dugouts will be torn out and rebuilt this offseason. Keith Nelson is overseeing this project this offseason. 3) New walls in the storage area behind the Sturgeon Concession stand. The required mop sink and sump pump were getting pushed around with the associcated piping often getting broke. New walls were built to improve access to the sink and eliminate the breakage. Mark Smit oversaw this work to completion. 4) New Batting cages at Sturgeon. A design for 2 batting cages has been developed and is being taken forward to the city council this offseason. It is expected that concrete can get poured yet this year and the project is expected to be completed in spring 2010. A storage area for pitching machines and netting is also planned with these cages. Dave Millhisler and Mark Smit are overseeing this project. 5) Fix the batting cage at Dietz. The existing batting cage at Dietz field is being fixed with new frames and a cable system being installed. Mike Jewell and Mark Smit are overseeing completion of this project. 6) Playing field leveling and warmup pitching areas at the Dietz Major field are remodeled. The pitching warmup areas are being leveled and rebuilt this offseason for the main field at Dietz. The main fields lips, pitching mound, infield edges, and resodding of portions of the infield have been completd this fall. Doug Kummeth is overseeing this project with the help of Kutchey Landscaping. |
