East Louisville Sports (formerly MRA) will be holding its annual All Star Baseball Invitational Tournament starting Wednesday, June 24th through Sunday, June 28th.

ELS Opening Day

ELS's 2008 Opening Day will be on Saturday, March 21, 2009. All players, families and guests are asked to be at Crosby Park no later than 9:30 a.m.   Players are to assemble in the outfield of their normal playing field. Team introductions will begin at 10 a.m.

A special guest will speak and throw out the first pitch at 10:30 a.m. Any questions, call Jack Kelley at 502-836-0055.

2008 - MRA Announces New Babe Ruth Baseball Format for Preps (13's) and Seniors (14-15's)

New for the 2008 season, MRA will form Prep (13 year old) and Senior (14-15 year old) baseball teams that will compete in a District-wide league that includes teams from Middletown, St. Matthews, J-town, Hikes Point, Fern Creek, and Highview.  The new format will include 8-12 teams that will play pre-season games April through mid-May, and a regular season schedule in mid-May through the end of June.  This schedule, tentatively planned for Sundays and Tuesdays, will accommodate more high school, middle school, and travel team players.  A district-wide all-star team for the Prep and Senior League will be selected from players throughout the District.  These teams will compete in the Babe Ruth State Tournaments in July.  Registration is open until February 29.  Register at www.MRAsports.com, or contact the league commissioner.  Tryouts will be held at Champions Baseball Academy on Thursday, March 6 (8:00pm for 13's, 9:00pm for 14-15's).  For more information, contact the MRA Babe Ruth League Commissioner, Tim Fentress at 299-6015 or tim.fentress@att.net.

Over the April 2007 Spring Break, the Middletown Recreation Association 12U BATS participated in the 12U Grand Strand Classic Baseball Tournament held at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After losing their first game, the 12U BATS fought their way back to the championship game and defeated the Dominion Storm 7-4. Trey Simpson #22 was named tournament MVP. Congratulations to the coaches, players and parents of the 12U BATS Team!

On Monday, July 17, 2006, the 2006 MRA Baseball 11 year old All Stars won the East Kentucky State Championship.    Coach Walter Simpson explained, "We beat South Lexington to win state last night. It took two games to do it but we did it!"
