Welcome to the 30th Anniversary Season of the Middle - Essex Softball League
This message was last updated on Wednesday at 11:40 AM
I had a number of people asking questions about rules this week. Remember that the standard ASA rules are in effect unless the topic is addresses in our By-laws document. Generally the rules that are coming up are covered at the annual meeting. It seems that folks who do not attend the meeting are the ones who are not understanding the rules correctly...perhaps there's a lesson here.
Any make up games can be played up to and including Tuesday, August 12th. After play on that day, the standings will become official. The following list represents the number of Championships to be awarded per Division. - 18A (1) - 18B (3) - 14A (2) - 14B (4) - 12A (1) - 12B (4) - 10U (2).
This is my annual reminder to make sure your standings are up to date. If you are a diligent website user and there are losses not posted to the standings, please go ahead and enter that information. Make sure games played during week 5, get posted as soon as possible after the game. I will post the All Star alignments on Friday morning, July 26th. There are two teams that only show two games played in the standings?!
It won't be long until All Star Day is here (Sat 8/2). I have added more games than we would normally have in honor of the 30th Anniversary. We will have 18 games in total which will keep the three fields at Southwell Complex in Chelmsford busy all day. I have posted a copy of the schedule for the day in the "My Site News" section of the website. A reminder to all teams... Each team is expected to send representatives to play in the All Star games. Teams unable to do so, MUST opt out of the games before July 15th or be faced with a $100 fine for failing to send players. Otherwise there is nothing that needs to be done at this time. There is an information sheet in the coaches packet that gives more information about the All Star Day.
There is a great softball camp being held during the week of August 4th on the fields outside Breed Middle School in Lynn. A registration form is posted in the HANDOUTS section of the website.
I have a supply of 30th Anniversary coaches shirts in stock that I would like to move out...while it's still the 30th year and not the 31st. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get them to you. The cost is $20 each: Below you'll find up to date inventory. Oh, and even though they are called coaches shirts, players and others can wear them as well.

I also have some grey and black hooded sweatshirts in ladies sizes. The hoodies are $25. ~~ Thank you.
Remember that the winning team should post the score. To post the score, log in to the admin side of your site, click on schedules, then scores. Next click the edit pencil and enter the numbers. If a game is postponed, do not go into the scoring area of the website...it will think the game was a 0-0 tie.
There have been a lot of questions this week on rules that are clearly outlined in the league bylaws... TAKE A FEW MINUTES to read them.
An updated copy of the league by-laws and the list of umpire assigners has been posted in the Handouts Section.
Don't forget about the New England Riptide! -- The team needs your support.
I have assigned dates for your team to come to Martin Field...Anyone connected with your program simply has to announce they are with your team when they arrive at the ticket table and they will receive the discounted price of $8.00 per person ($5.00 if under age 10). Bring a banner or sign to identify your team! If you can't come on the assigned date... let me know and we can pick another one!
