Junior Selects Presented with National Championship Rings

Midget Selects 1-1 at Ontario Elimination Tournament
The Windsor Midget Selects have posted a 1-1 record at the Ontario Midget Elimination tournament. They defeated Waterloo 7-2 last evening and suffered a 6-4 loss to Mississauga North today. The Selects then drew a bye to the next round and will face Mississauga Majors tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

Celebration in Quebec City
The Windsor Junior Selects have captured the Gold Medal at the National Championships in Quebec City, defeating Quebec 8-2. Excellent pitching performances by both starter Matt Piccini and reliever Dane Little. After quickly falling behind, the Selects battled back scoring one run in the bottom of the 1st. Singles by Paul Lamantia, Alex Carducci, Josh Federico & Ryan Pierce in the 3rd tallied two more runs. With two out in the 4th, Paul Lamantia doubled & Kevin Mailloux hit a two run homer. Errors by the Quebec team in the bottom of the 6th allowed for three more Ontario runs. The Selects put together 10 hits in front of a crowd of 1500 fans. Kevin Mailloux was named top Defensive Player of the tournament. The Selects will be boarding the bus & heading home after the game, expecting to arrive back in Windsor late tomorrow morning.

Windsor Awarded 2008 & 2009 Senior Elimination Tournament
Windsor was awarded the 2008 & 2009 Ontario Senior Elimination Tournament. The 2008 winner will advance to the National Championship, August 21-24 in Brandon, Manitoba.

Troy Jet Box Win NABF Regional
Troy Jet Box won six straight at the NABF Regionals in Springfield , Ohio and will now advance to the NABF World Championship. Adam Echlin of Amherstburg threw a 6-0 no hitter in the final against Virginia Fedlock.

Troy Jet Box win NABF World Series held in Louisville, Kentucky
Jet Box went 5-1 to win the 2007 NABF Major World Series on Sunday, August 19 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Tecumseh Captures Can-Am Championship
Tecumseh Thunder captured the 2007 Can-Am League Championship by defeating Troy Jet Box by a score of 8-6. Tecumseh broke a 2-2 tie by scoring five runs in the top of the 5th inning, to take a 7-2 lead. Jet Box countered with three runs in their bottom half of the inning, to close the gap to 7-5. Both teams scored a run in the 7th, with Troy leaving the bases loaded. Errors proved to be costly for Jet Box in this contest.

Windsor Junior Selects Provincial Champions
The Windsor Junior Selects defeated Brantford 9-2 this afternoon, to earn the title of Ontario Provincial Champions. They will now advance to the Canadian Championships in Quebec City later this month. The Selects went a perfect 6-0 in the tournament, results as follows;

Mitch Delaney was named tournament MVP and Dean Little was named Best Picther.
At the Bantam Championships in Windsor, Tecumseh Thunder downed the undefeated Mississauga Tigers 7-6 to force a second game to determine the champion. Tecumseh went on to capture the Ontario Championship by defeating Mississauga 9-3.
The Windsor-Essex County region will now be represented by three local teams at the Bantam, Junior & Senior levels of the Canadian Championships, all to be held in Quebec City.

Royals Advance to Canadian Championship
The Oshawa Royals will represent Ontario at the Canadian Senior Mens Championships after defeating the Tecumseh Thunder 8-3. Brett Backman threw a four hitter through six complete innings and reliever Shane Quinn closed out the seventh, giving up one hit.
The Canadian Championships will be held in Quebec City, Quebec in August. Congratulations to both teams for an outstanding tournament.

Bartell Perfect through Five
Windsor Chiefs Jordan Bartell pitched five perfect innings, striking out 13 of the 15 batters he faced as his team mates staked him to a 12-0 mercy rule win over Harrow.

Round 6 Produces Two Excellent Games
Leaside downed the undefeated Oshawa Royals by a score of 3-1 to advance to tomorrow's semi-final against the Tecumseh Thunder. Tecumseh spotted the Windsor Stars three first inning runs and replied with two of their own in the bottom of the first. Tecumseh evened the score in the third inning on a wild pitch and the game remained tied until the bottom of the 7th, when Tecumseh scored the winning run with two out and a man on third on a fielding error.
Four teams now remain, all with a loss. Sunday at 10:00 a.m., Woodslee will face Oshawa at Soulliere Field and Tecumseh will square off against Leaside at Cullen Field. The two winners will advance to the sudden death championship game at 1:00 p.m. at Cullen Field.

Oshawa & Tecumseh Advance to Final
Oshawa netted a 1-0 win over Woodslee to advance to the final game at the Ontario Senior Elimination Tournament. Pitchers Dave Anderson (Oshawa) and John Picco (Woodslee) both threw a two hitter.
In the other semi-final match-up, Tecumseh defeated Leaside 9-2.
The final game will commence at 1:20 p.m. at Cullen Field.

Five Teams Remain At Senior Elimination
At the Ontario Senior Elimination tournament, five teams remain at this point. Tonight at 7:00 p.m., the Windsor Stars will take on the Tecumseh Thunder at Cullen Field while Leaside faces undefeated Oshawa at Soulliere field. Woodslee has drawn the bye into tomorrows sem-final.

Flint Halo-Foutch Captures 13th Annual Wiseman Tournament
Flint Halo Foutch captured their 5th championship of the 13 year old Rick Wiseman Memorial Tournament. They did it in fine fashion, overcoming a four run deficit in the semi-finals against the Windsor Stars, scoring 3 in the 4th & 1 in the 5th to notch the score at 4-4. The Stars took the lead in the 10th 5-4, only to have Flint score 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning for a 6-5 victory. In the final, trailing 5-0 against Troy, Flint scored 5 runs in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to post a 7-5 win.

Minor Midget Selects 3-0 at the Firecracker Classic in Ypsilanti, Michigan
The Windsor Minor Midget Selects are 3-0 at the Firecracker Classic. They defeated the Hamilton Cobras on Saturday 4-0, and posted a pair of wins on Sunday, defeating the Cincinnati Bandits & Redford Michigan. A victory on Monday will move them into the semi-finals.

STARS LOSE 2-0 TO NEW BRUNSWICK(2)
New Brunswick (2) scored two unearned runs in the 5th to defeat the Stars (2-2). Windsor only had one hit in the game a single by Dan Hansen. Jason Lauzon took the loss on a 5 hit performance. The Stars finished in a 3 way tie in their pool for second place.
