Marilyn Whitstock receives International Little League Challenger Award

District 6 Assistant District Administrator for Challenger Baseball, Marilyn Whitstock was awarded the International Challenger award at the Little League World Series in Williamsport on August 27, 2009.

 

Marilyn has been a 20 year advocate for disabled children in District 6 and this award was truly earned. To see pictures and additional articles about Marilyn and Challenger baseball go  to www.littleleague.org

Grosse Pointe Farms City finishes with 2 wins in Indianapolis

Grosse Pointe Farms City Little League represented district 6 and the State of Michigan in the Great Lakes Regional tounrmanent in Indianapolis this week. The team that went through District and State Play undefeated, won games against Wisconsin and Ohio and lost to Illinois and Kentucky. Unfortunately the loss to Kentucky ended their season as they were eliminated by the tie break rules.

District 6 Teams are outstanding representatives in the State Tournaments

/I would like to congratulate all the teams from District 6 who represented our district in all the State Tournaments this season. All our teams were competitive and gave our district an outstanding season in state tournament play.

 

Grosse Pointe Farms City went 2-1 in the 9/10 Baseball state tournament losing a chance to advance in a tie breaker.

Grosse Pointe Farms City went 3-1 in the 10/11 Baseball state tournament advancing to the semi final round before losing to Bay City Southwestern Little League

 Grosse Pointe Farms City wend undeafeated and won the Michigan State Little League title in Jackson, defeating Bay City Southwestern Little League in the Finals.

 The combined Grosse Pointe Farms City and Grosse Pointe Park Junior Team went 1-2 at the Junior State Championship beating Cheboygan before losing to Western and Midland who ended up playing in the title game.

 The team from Think Detroit Pal went to Kalamazoo and played three competive games before being eliminated, quite a showing for a league only in its second season.

The young ladies from Shelby Township Recreation Little League captured the district title and went 2-2 in the state tournament defeating  Reed City and Marquette before losing to Emmitt and Gladstone who lost in the finals. Great showing for the league in there first season in District 6

The team from L'anse Creuse Little League went 2-1 in the 10/11 pool play tournament in Clinton Mi before losing in the semi finals to Clinton great showing for our district that entered a team in the 10/11 tournament for the first time ever.

 The team from L'anse Creuse Little League went 1-2 in the state tournament in Crosswell-Lexington playing in a tough pool with teams from districts 4,9 & 12. Crosswell Lexington eventually won the State Title and then won the Central Regional Title and is currently playing in the Softball World Series in Portland Oregon.

DISTRICT 6 CHALLENGER BASEBALL

Clinton Valley Little League Challenger Baseball offers Little League play for mentally and physically challenged children ages 5 - 18. This year, the 14th season, Challenger Baseball will be played at their NEW baseball field located at Neil Reid Park in Clinton Township.

L"anse Creuse Wins District 6 International Softball District Title

Congratulations go the the girls from L'ance Creuse Little League for Capturing the District 6 championship with a exciting 8-5 victory over Lac St. Clair Little League. L'anse Creuse went undefeated in the double elimination tournament. Good Luck in Crosswell Lexington at the State Tournament

Think Detroit Pal wins the District 6 Junior Softball tournament

Congratulations to the Think Detroit Pal Little League Junior Softball team for capturing the District 6 tournament with a thrilling 5-4 victory over L'anse Creuse Little League

Think Detroit will represent District 6 in a sectional tournament the weekend of July 17th

Think Detroit Pal wins the District 6 Senior Baseball championship

Congratulations to Think Detroit Pal Little League for capturing the District 6 championship. Coming from the loser bracket Think Detroit Swept Harper Woods in the final double header to capture their first Baseball title.

 Think Detroit Pal will play a sectional tournament against District 7 the weekend of July 17th

Grosse Pointe Park/Farms City capture the District 6 Junior baseball tournament

Congratulations to the Grosse Pointe Park/ Farms City Little League upon capturing the District 6 Championslhip over Harper Woods/Grosse Pointe Woods in a thrilling final 6-5 scoring a run in the bottom of the 7th inning to capture the title.

 

Grosse Pointe Park/Farms City will play a sectional tournament against District 7 the weekend of July 17th



Tuesday, July 21
Grosse Pointe Farms City sweep all District 6 Little League Tournaments

Grosse Pointe Farms City completed a sweep of all three Little League baseball District 6 tournaments this past weekend. The international team defeated Grosse Pointe Park in the final game 10-0 going undefeated during the tournament. The 10 & 11 team defeated Grosse Pointe Woods Shores Little League 7-3 on thursday to win the district title also going undefeated. The 9 & 10 team came from the losers bracket to win the tournament defeating Grosse Pointe Park in the finals on Sunday.

 

Good luck to all the teams at Jackson, Richmond and Charlevoix next weekend in the state tournaments.

Shelby Township Recreation Little League captures the District 6 9&10 Softball Championship

The young ladies from Shelby Township Recreation Department in their first season as Little League members captured the District 6 9&10 district title on saturday with a victory over L'anse Creuse Little League 11-10. Congratualations to the girls from Shelby and good luck in the State Tournament at Lincoln Park this weekend.

Think Detroit Pal Little League captures the State Sectional Title

The Think Detroit Pal Little League Senior team won the State Sectional Tournament this weekend at Detroit Northwestern High School defeating a very good team from Kimbal Michigan 12/7 and 7/6.

I want to thank the team from Detroit, their parents and the officials from Think Detroit Pal for creating a wonderfull weekend for both teams including the cookout for all the fans. The whole weekend really is what Little League is about.

Good Luck in the State Tournament at South Portage to the team from Think Detroit Pal

 

While the young men will be moving on the Think Detroit Pal Junior Softball team fell to the young ladies from St. Clair Little League also at Northwestern this weekend. The two teams were evenly matched and had to go all three games to determine a winner. Once again the host league Think Detroit Pal did a wonderfull job hosting the tournament.

 

Good luck to St. Clair in the State Tournament in Gaylord next weekend

Grosse Pointe Park/Farms City win the Junior State Sectional Tournament

The combined team from the Grosse Pointe Park and Grosse Pointe Farms City Little Leagues captured the State Sectional tournament at Grosse Pointe South High School on Sunday to advance to the State Tournament in Gladstone Michigan.

After losing the first game to a very good team from St. Clair Little League 14-3, the Park/Farms City team swept the double header Sunday to advance.

Grosse Pointe Farms City Wins Michigan International Little League Championship

The Little Leaguer's from Grosse Pointe Farms City Little Legue captured the Michigan State Little League Championship on Sunday August 2, 2009 at Cascades Park in Jackson Michigan with a thrilling 7/3 victory over Bay City Southwest Little League.

 

Led by the Pitching of Gordie Post and the Hitting of Brett Bigham the team from the Farms City will be heading to Indianapolis on Wednesday to begin the quest for Williamsport. Their first game is Friday at 7:30 against Wisconsin followed by games against Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky.
