Profile: Coach Bill Grant began his wrestling career as a distinguished high school wrestler in 1962 at the South Peninsula League Champion. Competing at the college level and beyond his accomplishments include:

1967-Far Western Conference Champion (Division II National Championship Qualifier)
1968-Division II National Qualifier
1969-Western Regional Greco-Roman Champion

His Coaching Achievements are lengendary. Listed below, be sure to note our very own MHS Wrestlers are his champions.

1971-Pacifica High School-6th Place North Coast Division
1972-1976-Oakland High School-3X Oakland Section Champions-4th California State Championships
1977-Roseburg High School-Southern Oregon District Champions
1978-1997-Monterey High School-1982 C.C.S. Champions & 13th place in California State Championships, 40 M.B.L. Champions, 16 C.C.S. Finalists, 4 C.I.F. State Medalists
1978-1992-Established Monterey Peninsula Wrestling Club and coached 25 State Champions and 75 National Qualifiers

Coach Grant has been honored with the following awards:

1976-Oakland Section Coach of the year
1990-Central Coast Section Wrestling Coach of the year
1993-California Association of Physical Education, Recreation Athletic Achievement Award
1996-California Wrestling Coach of the Year for Region VII (Western US States)
