4X800 SENIORS ROCK OUT SUB-8:00 AT MEET OF CHAMPIONS
Seniors Josh Johnson, Taiwan Savage, Mike Doughty and Isaiah Brown made the most of their final race together Wednesday night at the Meet of Champions in Dover as the guys won the 3200-meter relay by once again smashing their school record. Their 7:58.68 makes them the third-fastest Henlopen Conference squad ever to run during the spring season. Johnson, Savage and Brown later joined freshman Tae Green to finish runner-up in the 1600-meter relay, running their season-best time. Johnson also finished runner-up in the 800 meters, while sophomore Ryan Thomas scored a victory in long jump and placed second in triple. Senior Carl Richardson ran his fastest 1600, while Jimmy Passwaters and Derek Munce each closed out their vaulting careers. For the senior girls, Molly Bliss and Kaitlyn Payne closed out their careers in the 800 and high jump, respectively, as Bliss ran her season-best to earn a bronze.

BOYS WIN FOUR EVENTS EN ROUTE TO 3RD-PLACE FINISH AT STATES
Josh Johnson won the 800 meters in a new school record 1:57.45, and he also started the 3200-meter and 1600-meter relay teams to titles as well as the boys finished third overall with 90 points in their first appearance in the Div. I state meet. Ryan Thomas also won the triple jump. Meanwhile, the girls finished 6th overall.
Both the girls and boys 3200-meter relays started the action Friday by smashing school records. Isaiah Brown added a school record in the 400, while Andrew Marshall busted out a new Bloom record in shot put as each finished runner-up.

BOYS, GIRLS BATTLE AT HENLOPEN MEET CHAMPIONSHIP
In an epic matchup, the boys scored 157 points, but finished runner-up to CR by a mere 3 points at the Henlopen Championship meet Saturday. Meanwhile the girls finished a strong third with 109.5 pts behind CR and eventual champion Cape Henlopen.

BOYS WRAP UP UNDEFEATED CONFERENCE TITLE FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR
Bryson Cartwright won the 400 and long jump and Ryan Thomas set a new Bloom record in high jump as the boys topped CR and Lake Forest Tuesday to close out the regular-season at 13-0 and clinch their third-straight undefeated Henlopen Conference title. Isaiah Brown came up with several big races, including a great anchor in the 4x8 and a win in the 300 hurdles, while Derek Munce won pole vault and scored his best high jump. Carl Richardson and Henry Phalen went 1-2 in the 3200 to help set up the win for the 4x4 squad.
Meanwhile, the girls wrapped up the regular season at 11-2, topping Lake Forest, but battling to a tough loss against undefeated CR. Jasmine Williams, Shadiya Lowery and Alondria Harris helped the girls sweep CR in shot put, while Molly Bliss won the 1600, Alexis Groce the 800 and the pair joined Brianna Lofland and Lakeisha Pettyjohn to win the 4x400. The girls 4x100 of Keyanna Winder, Lofaland, Davida Johnson and Destiny Sivels also scored a win.
Darreus McCrea (300 hurdles) and Kaelan Curry (triple jump) added provisional state qualifiers.

BUCS BATTLE WITH TOP COMPETITORS AT PUMA HENDERSON
Alexis Groce, Hannah Uebele, Kelsey Cabrera and Molly Bliss teamed up for a new school record of 10:01.61 in the 3200-meter relay to score medals at the highly-competitive Puma Henderson Invitational Friday. The boys’ 3200-meter relay of Josh Johnson, Miles Russell, Mike Doughty and Isaiah Brown also started the day well to score fifth-place medals.
Destiny Sivels and Isaiah Brown scored individual medals, while seniors Carl Richardson (1600), Derek Munce (pole vault) and Kaitlyn Payne (triple jump) scored career-best performances. Henry Phalen (800) and Cabrera (1600) added provisional state qualifiers.

BOYS KEEP STREAK ALIVE; GIRLS STAY IN THE HUNT FOR CONFERENCE TITLE
Carl Richardson scored wins in the 1600 and 3200 meters, while Josh Johnson won the 800 and helped three winning relays as the boys improved to 11-0 with wins over Cape Henlopen and Sussex Tech in the regular-season HOME finale Tuesday. Meanwhile, Destiny Sivels won the 100 and sparked a relay win, while Molly Bliss battled for 20 points as the girls moved to 10-1 on the season, defeating Sussex Tech, but falling to Cape Henlopen.
Both the boys and girls still have a shot for the Henlopen regular-season title in a matchup with CR at Lake Forest next Tuesday.
Alexis Groce had a strong day, qualifying for states in the 800 after her best 400 of the season, while Tyesha Bowman nailed a career-best time in the 400 to qualify for states. Lakeisha Pettyjohn helped a clean sweep of the 400 by running her best and provisionally qualifying.
In the throws, Julian Brown busted out a best to qualify for states in discus, while Jasmine Williams also posted a big career-best in shot put. James Hagen won pole vault a best of 12-feet and added his best in the 1600.
New state qualifiers included Layana Bryant (pole vault), Isaiah Brown (200) and Miles Russell (400), while Kim Ollano also provisionally qualified in pole vault.

RELAYS REPRESENT AT PENNS
Isaiah Brown, Josh Johnson, Tae Green and Bryson Cartwright wrapped up the MHS weekend action at Penn Relays in Philadelphia with a 3:27.53 in the 1600-meter relay Saturday.
On Friday, the 3200-meter relay of Brown, Johnson, Mike Doughty and Carl Richardson posted a 8:13.64, while the 400-meter relay of Rob Volm, Chas Holden, Bryson Cartwright and Vance Daniels started well before a bad exchange on the final handoff.
The girls represented well Thursday as Molly Bliss, Tyesha Bowman, Lakeisha Pettyjohn and Alexis Groce scored the team's fastest 1600-meter relay of the season with a 4:10.18, while Keyanna Winder, Bowman, Davida Johnson and Destiny Sivels posted a 51.40 in the 400 relay.
Jason Harper, MHS alum of 2010 and now a sophomore at Mississippi State, also won his section of the college triple jump with a 50-foot jump on Saturday.

Keyanna Winder won three individual events and also started the winning 400-meter relay as the girls improved to 9-0 on the season with lopsided wins over Dover and Indian River at home Tuesday. Meanwhile, Derek Munce scored three individual wins to help the boys also improve to 9-0.
Molly Bliss (1600) and Jasmine Williams (shot put) qualified for states, while Octavion Wilson (high jump), James Hagen (1600), Kevin Johnson (400) and Deja Knight (100) added provisional qualifiers.

BOYS TIE FOR FIRST, WHILE GIRLS JUST MISS AT TWILIGHT RELAYS
Taiwan Savage started two winning relays and teamed with Derek Munce to win triple jump as the boys tied for first place with A.I. duPont in Section I of the Twilight Relays Friday at Caravel Academy. For the girls, the sprint medley team of Tyesha Bowman, Destiny Sivels, Brianna Lofland and Molly Bliss scored gold as the girls medaled in 12 events to finish runner-up to Cape Henlopen by a mere three points.
Individually, Kaitlyn Payne high jumped a career-best of 5 feet to pick up a silver medal with Lauriel Robertson, while Lakeisha Pettyjohn also qualified provisionally in triple jump. Trevor Maloney added a provisional qualifier in the 3200 meters for the boys.

Meanwhile, Carl Richardson won a pair of events, while Isaiah Brown and Taiwan Savage scored big days as the boys also swept victories to help both teams improve to 7-0 on the season.

BOYS LEAVE D.C. WITH CRIMSON TIDE WIN; GIRLS FINISH RUNNER-UP
Taiwan Savage, Josh Johnson, Bryson Cartwright and Isaiah Brown smashed a season-best time to win the 1600-meter relay and help secure the first-place team trophy at the Crimson Tide Classic Saturday in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, Alexis Groce, Tyesha Bowman, Hannah Uebele and Molly Bliss shattered a school record to win the 3200-meter relay as the girls brought home a runner-up team trophy. Bliss also won the 800.
For the boys, Savage, Johnson and Brown joined Mike Doughty to win the 3200-meter relay earlier in the day, while Brown ran a meet record 49.01 to win the 400. Ryan Thomas won the triple and high jump, while Carl Richardson won the 1600 and Cartwright the long jump. Jimmy Passwaters also won the steeple chase.

BUCS MOVE TO 4-0 AFTER HOME WINS VS. WOODBRIDGE, ST. THOMAS MORE
Derek Munce won three jumps while Ryan Thomas, who busted out a 22-2.5 long jump, and Carl Richardson each added a pair of wins to lead the boys to victory Tuesday. Meanwhile, Keyanna Winder scored three individual wins and Molly Bliss and Alexis Groce each teamed for two more to help lead the girls.
Winder (long jump), Groce (200), Destiny Whidbee (discus), Robert Volm (discus), Isaiah Brown (300 hurdles) and Tae Green (400) each qualified automatically for states. Kaitlyn Payne (long jump), Taiwan Savage (triple jump), Tyesha Bowman (300 hurdles), Erica McCrea (200), Octavion Wilson (200 & 400), Mike Doughty (800) and Tae Gree (200) also added provisional qualifiers. Andrew Marshall tossed a career-best shot put of 44 feet.

BOYS, GIRLS ROLL ON TO 2-0 AFTER WINS AT SEAFORD
Ryan Thomas swept all three jumps and Carl Richardson won pole vault and the 3200 with state-qualifying marks in each event to help the boys improve to 2-0 with a 107-39 win at Seaford Tuesday. Meanwhile, the girls also moved to 2-0 with a 102-42 win led by Molly Bliss and Alexis Groce who each scored a pair of wins and a provisional state qualifier.
Taiwan Savage and Isaiah Brown each qualified for states in the 800 meters, while Derek Munce (triple jump), Ryan Thomas (100), Vance Daniels (100), Tae Green (400), Chas Holden (200), Kelsey Cabrera (3200) and Alondria Harris (shot put) each added provisional qualifiers.

BOYS WIN A.I. FIELD & TRACK; GIRLS FINISH RUNNER-UP
Ryan Thomas and Derek Munce scored a pair of golds in the field, while Taiwan Savage, Isaiah Brown, Mike Doughty and Josh Johnson ran a Penn Relays qualifying-time of 8:12.2 to win the 3200-meter relay as the boys won the team title at the A.I. Field & Track Relays Friday. Savage, Brown and Johnson joined Kevin Johnson to close the meet with a win in the 1600-meter relay.
Meanwhile, the girls 3200-meter relay of Molly Bliss, Hannah Uebele, Kelsey Cabrera and Alexis Groce scored gold to help the girls finish runner-up to CR in the team standings. Lauriel Robertson qualified for states in the pole vault.

BOYS, GIRLS OPEN 2012 SEASON WITH HOME WINS VS. SMYRNA
Ryan Thomas swept the jumps, including a new Bloom record high jump of 6-2, while Kai Purnell won both hurdles events to lead the boys to a 94-52 win over Smyrna Thursday at home. Meanwhile, Molly Bliss won the 1600 and the 800 and Destiny Sivels won the 100 and helped two relay wins as the girls won, 92-54.

BOYS RALLY TO FINISH RUNNER-UP IN INDOOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The boys scored 25 points in the final two events to steal the runner-up trophy and finish just 6.25 points behind first-place Salesianum in the DIAA indoor track & field state championship Saturday at the University of Delaware.
Ryan Thomas, who placed third in high jump and 7th in long jump earlier in the day, tied the sophomore state record with a jump of 45 feet, 2.5 inches to win triple jump in the final event of the day, while Taiwan Savage also jumped in to place fourth in triple to seal the rally.
Savage, who had just come off his second title of the day after teaming with Josh Johnson, Miles Russell and Isaiah Brown to win the 1600-meter relay, also started the day with Johnson, Brown and Mike Doughty to win the 3200-meter relay. Both relay times ranked among the Top 25 in state history.
Johnson, Brown and Russell also teamed with Bryson Cartwright to place second in the 800-meter relay, while Brown finished runner-up in the 400 and Derek Munce placed third with a career-best in pole vault.
Meanwhile, Molly Bliss, Hannah Uebele, Savannah Becker and Alexis Groce ran a season-best to place third in the 3200-meter relay, leading the girls' team to an eighth-place finish overall.

BOYS, GIRLS NAIL DOWN INDOOR HENLOPEN TITLES
The boys & girls indoor track & field teams hauled in 15 event titles to sweep the Henlopen Championships Friday at Snow Hill, Md. With Alexis Groce anchoring three winning relays and also scoring her fourth gold in the 400 meters, the girls held off runner-up Cape Henlopen 140 to 130, while the boys — led by Ryan Thomas who jumped to three individual golds and Carl Richardson who collected three more golds — scored 145 points to run away from CR.

BUCS CLOSE OUT SEASON AT MEET OF CHAMPS
The track & field season officially came to a close Wednesday night at the Meet of Champions in Dover, and the boys & girls brought home five runner-up performances and some new school records.
The boys 3200-meter relay of Isaiah Brown, Mike Doughty, Josh Johnson and Taiwan Savage placed second in a new school record of 8:09.42, while the girls 1600-meter relay of Molly Bliss, Shekinah Brown, Tyesha Bowman and Alexis Groce also placed second in a new record of 4:01.88. Bliss also set a new school mark in the 800 with a 2:19.64.
The boys 400-meter relay of Alex Vantine, Shane Letthand, Bryson Cartwright and Dawan Smith ran a season-best time of 43.0 for silver, and four-year vets Shekinah Brown (300 hurdles) and Kari Elzey (discus) wrapped up stellar careers with runner-up finishes.
Isaiah Brown added a bronze with his best in 300 hurdles, while Jon Jones closed his four years with a best of 143 feet, four inches in discus. Freshman Ryan Thomas busted out a triple jump of 45-1 (4th).
Other place-winners included the boys 800 relay of Phil Shorts, Smith, Cartwright and Letthand (4th); girls 400 relay of Keyanna Winder, Brown, Destiny Sivels and Bowman (5th); boys 1600 relay of Brown, Johnson, Savage and Smith (4th); and Carl Richardson in pole vault (6th).

The boys scored in 15 of the 18 events, incuding five runner-ups, to outdistance second-place Tatnall, 82-61. Meanwhile, the girls -- led by a 400-meter relay championship by Keyanna Winder, Shekinah Brown, Alli Henderson and Destiny Sivels -- finished third overall, just two points from a runner-up trophy.
Senior Dawan Smith led the team with 16.5 points with a runner-up finish in long jump and a bronze in the 400 meters. He also joined Phil Shorts, Bryson Cartwright and Isaiah Brown to place third in the 1600-meter relay. Freshman Ryan Thomas jumped a career-best 43'10" to place second in triple, while the 3200 relay of Taiwan Savage, Mike Doughty, Josh Johnson and Brown, the 800 relay of Shorts, Brown, Cartwright and Shane Letthand and the 400 relay of Alex Vantine, Chas Holden, Cartwright and Letthand each finished second.
For the girls, Shekinah Brown led the way with 16.5 points as she finished runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles and also helped the 1600-meter relay with Molly Bliss, Tyesha Bowman and Alexis Groce set a new school record for a second-place finish. Bliss also set a new school record in the 800 meters to place fourth, and Kari Elzey placed second in discus.
Overall, Carl Richardson (pole vault) and Cartwright (long jump), along with the girls 3200 relay of Bliss, Kelsey Cabera, Henderson and Groce added bronze medals.

BOYS WIN HENLOPEN MEET; GIRLS FINISH RUNNER-UP
Phil Shorts, Dawan Smith, Bryson Cartwright and Isaiah Brown closed out the weekend by winning the 1600-meter relay in the second-fastest time in Henlopen meet history to help the boys clinch the team championship Saturday at Lake Forest. Meanwhile, Molly Bliss, Tyesha Bowman, Alli Henderson and Alexis Groce also closed out an exciting win in the 1600-meter relay to secure a runner-up finish for the girls' team.
Smith scored a big weekend with individual wins in the 200 and 400 -- his third-straight title in each of those events, and he also busted out a new school record of 48.89 seconds in the 400 and a career-best in long jump to place third. Bryson Cartwright captured the long jump title with a jump of 22 feet-5 inches -- the 10th longest in meet history.
The boys 3200-meter relay of Brown, Mike Doughty, Josh Johnson and Taiwan Savage started the weekend with a title, while the girls 3200 relay of Groce, Bliss, Henderson and Kelsey Cabrera also set a new school record. Carl Richardson won the 3200 meters and Kari Elzey won discus, while Henry Phalen also qualified for states in the 3200 meters. Molly Bliss set a new Bloom record in the 1600.

The girls 3200-meter relay of Alexis Groce, Kelsey Cabrera, Alli Henderson and Molly Bliss reset their school record with a 10:15.92 and the boys 400-meter relay of Alex Vantine, Chas Holden, Bryson Cartwright and Dawan Smith placed third to highlight top peformances at the Henderson Invitational Friday night.
Other medal winners included Kari Elzey (discus), Isaiah Brown (300 hurdles), Destiny Sivels (100), Ryan Thomas (triple jump), Dawan Smith (long jump). Chas Holden (100), Darreus McCrea (110 hurdles) and Henry Phalen (1600) added provisional qualifiers for states.
Carl Richardson and Molly Bliss added career-bests in the 1600 and 800, respectively.

BOYS, GIRLS MARCH ONTO 10-0 WITH WINS OVER CAPE, TECH
Molly Bliss, Alli Henderson, Shekinah Brown and Alexis Groce smashed out the second fastest time in school history to win the 1600-meter relay in stellar fashion and clinch a 77-68 win over defending champion Cape Henlopen Monday. With a win over Tech as well, the girls improve to 10-0 on the season as do the boys who also cruised to wins over each team.
Both teams will look to wrap up an undefeated regular-season Henlopen championships next Tuesday at Woodbridge.
Overall, Brown led the girls with 23.75 points with wins in both hurdle events, including a new school-record time of 46.0 in the 300s, while Molly Bliss had a career-day to win the 1600 and 800 meters. Meanwhile, Keyanna Winder and Destiny Sivels each had big days, each scoring over 20 points. Kari Elzey won discus and added 14 points, while Tyesha Bowman smashed her 400-meter time and added 17.5 points. Bliss, Henderson, Groce and Kelsey Cabrera also set a school record in the 3200-meter relay.
Hannah Westwood (pole vault) and Jasmine Williams (shot) added career-bests, while Kesline Beaucejour qualified for states in shot put. Kaitlyn Payne provisionally qualified for high jump as did Nia Bection in long jump.
For the boys, Carl Richardson led the way with wins in pole vault and the 1600, while Isaiah Brown and Shane Letthand each added a pair of relay wins and an individual win. Phil Shorts smashed his time to win the 400, while Derek Munce qualified for states in the triple jump, James Hagen in pole vault, and Josh Johnson added a provisional qualifier in the 200.

The boys' & girls' sprint teams represented well over the weekend at Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
On Thursday, the girls' 400-meter relay of Keyanna Winder, Shekinah Brown, Destiny Sivels and Tyesha Bowman ran a 50.51, while the 1600-meter relay of Molly Bliss, Tyesha Bowman, Alli Henderson and Alexis Groce ran their fastest time of the season at 4:13.84.
The boys' 400-meter relay of Alex Vantine, Dawan Smith, Bryson Cartwright and Shane Letthand ran a 44.33 on Friday, while Smith and Cartwright joined Isaiah Brown and Phil Shorts for a 3:25.63 on Saturday.

BUCS ROLL AT HOME TO IMPROVE TO 8-0
Keyanna Winder scored three individual wins, while Molly Bliss busted out bests to win the 1600 & 800 meters as the girls improved to 8-0 with wins over Laurel and Sussex Central at home Tuesday. Meanwhile, Carl Richardson and Phil Shorts each posted a pair of individual wins to keep the boys undefeated as well.
For the girls, Kari Elzey tossed a career-best to win shot and added a win in discus, while Kesline Beaucejour teamed up with career bests in both events as well. Sandra Legros, Sigmarie Rodriquez and Alexis Groce each scored a pair or relay wins, while freshman Lakeisha Pettyjohn scored 14.5 points. Shekinah Brown, Aaliyah Davis, Kelsey Cabrera and Lauriel Robertson each added at least 15 points.
On the boys' side, Derek Munce smashed a best to win high jump, while Josh Johnson, Alex Vantine, Bryson Cartwrigh and Shane Letthand each picked up a pair of relay wins. Ryan Thomas led the team with 24 points.

COLD NIGHT AT DOVER BRINGS 6-0 RECORD
Ryan Thomas won triple jump with a career-best and later added a state-qualifying win in pole vault, scoring 26 points, to lead the boys to a pair of victories over Dover and Polytech on a cold Friday night in Dover. Meanwhile, Keyanna Winder won long jump, triple jump and 100-meter hurdles to lead the girls as both teams improved to 6-0 on the the season.
For the boys, Isaiah Brown and Bryson Cartwright scored big nights as each scored an individual win and two relay wins, while Shane Letthand and Phil Shorts won the 200 and 400, respectively. On the girls' side Shekinah Brown, Tyesha Bowman, Destiny Sivels, Alexis Groce, Molly Bliss, Kelsey Cabrera and Kesline Beaucejour scored key individual wins.

BOYS, GIRLS MOVE TO 4-0 WITH WINS AT CR
Both the boys & girls track & field teams improved to 4-0 on the season after sweeping away Smyrna and Caesar Rodney in hard-fought battles that spanned over two days and ended Wednesday.
The boys rallied strong with 27 points in the final four events as freshman Ryan Thomas busted out a career-best to win triple jump, Shane Letthand and Dawan Smith went 1-2 in the 200, Carl Richardson, Steve Eshelman and Henry Phalen swept the 3200 meters before the 4x400 team of Isaiah Brown, Josh Johnson, Bryson Cartwright and Taiwan Savage cruised to victory to close out the huge team win. Smith led the Bucs with 28.5 points for the day.
For the girls, Molly Bliss led the way with wins in the 1600 and 800 meters and two winning relays, while Alexis Groce, Keyanna Winder, Shekinah Brown, Destiny Sivels, Tyesha Bowman, Aaliyah Davis and Kesline Beaucejour scored key wins. Alli Henderson scored a key rally in the 300 hurdles, while Kelsey Cabrera ran strong in the distance races.
New state qualifiers included Kai Purnell in the 300 hurdles, Letthand in the 200, and Jasmine Williams in shot put. Phalen (3200), Thomas (pole vault) and Beaucejour (shot put) added provisional qualifiers.

GIRLS WIN CARAVEL INVITE; BOYS CLAIM A CLOSE RUNNER-UP
Shekinah Brown scored a team-high 17.5 points, including a win in the 300-meter hurdles in a new school-record time of 47.97 seconds, as the girls edged out Tatnall win the 20-team Caravel Invitational Saturday. Meanwhile, Dawan Smith won the long jump and scored 19.5 points to lead the boys to a runner-up finish, just two points behind Brandywine.
Kari Elzey won discus and added a career-best toss in shot put, while Destiny Sivels (100), Tyesha Bowman (400) Kesline Beaucejour (discus) and Hannah Westwood (pole vault) scored silver medals. Khila Hughes also anchored two medal-winning relays.
For the boys, Bryson Cartwright and Ryan Thomas scored medals in the jumps, while the 400-meter relay of Alex Vantine, Shane Letthand, Phil Shorts and Cartwright and the 1600-meter relay of Shorts, Cartwright, Smith and Isaiah Brown each placed third in season-best times.
New state qualifiers included Steve Eshelman, Carl Richardson and Kelsey Cabrera in the 1600, Taiwan Savage and Mike Doughty in the 800, Derek Munce in the high jump & pole vault, and Thomas (high jump), Shorts (200), Letthand (100), Bowman (400) and Kieran Purnell (300 hurdles).

BUCS DODGE HAIL STORMS FOR BESTS AT D.C.
Despite hail storms and cold rain that shortened their day, the boys’ & girls’ track & field teams fared well at the Crimson Tide Classic Saturday in Washington, D.C. Kari Elzey successfully defended her meet title and record in discus with a career-best and Penn Relay qualifying throw of 117 feet.
Jon Jones and Derrick Strickland also had a solid day in discus placing second and fourth, respectively. Aaliyah Davis scored a best in shot put, Shekinah Brown added PRs in long jump and hurdles, while the 3200-meter runners of Carl Richardson, Steve Eshelman and Henry Phalen each shattered bests to move up on the Bloom Top 10.
Kelsey Cabrera (3200) and Dawan Smith (200) added state qualifiers, while Bryson Cartwright (100 & 200) and Lauriel Robertson (high jump) added provisional qualifiers.

BOYS, GIRLS IMPROVE TO 2-0 WITH WINS VS. LAKE
Shekinah Brown and Keyanna Winder each scored 14.25 points, while Aaliyah Davis and Molly Bliss each won a pair of individual events to lead the girls over Lake Forest Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ryan Thomas won triple jump and scored 11 points to lead the boys.
Isaiah Brown crushed a career-best to win 300 hurdles and also qualified for states in the 110s, while Bryson Cartwright busted out a big long jump to qualify for states. Taiwan Savage added a qualifier in the 400, while Carl Richardson and Steve Eshelman (1600), Kieran Purnell (300 hurdles), Ryan Thomas (high jump) and Derek Munce (pole vault) also qualified provisionally for states.

BOYS, GIRLS SWEEP AWAY UPSTATE COMPETITION AT A.I. RELAYS
The boys’ & girls’ track & field teams picked up 56 medals, including 41 golds, to sweep away the 12-team competition with first-place team trophies at the icy, cold Field & Track Relays at A.I. duPont High School on Friday.
Steve Eshelman started the day with a career-best to win the 3200 meters, while Keyanna Winder and Shekinah Brown led the team with four golds apiece. Jon Jones and Derrick Strickland qualified for states in the discus, while Josh Johnson added a qualifier in high jump as did Hannah Westwood in pole vault.

BOYS, GIRLS OPEN 2011 SPRING SEASON WITH HOME WINS VS. SEAFORD
Dawan Smith scored 14.25 points and qualified for states in the 100, 400 and long jump, while Alexis Groce posted 11.25 points and qualified in the 200 and 400 as the boys and girls opened their 2011 season with home wins versus Seaford Tuesday.
Shekinah Brown (long jump, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and Keyanna Winder (triple jump, long jump, 100 hurdles) each qualified for three events to help the girls, while Molly Bliss won the 800 and 1600 in state-qualifying times. Kari Elzey added state-qualifying throws to win the shot put & discus, while Alli Henderson (300 hurdles) and Destiny Sivels (100) scored state-qualifying wins. Tyesha Bowman (100, 200), Kesline Beaucejour (discus), Aaliyah Davis (shot put) and Destiny Whidbee (discus) also qualified for states.
For the boys, Carl Richardson won the 3200 and pole vault, while Jon Jones swept the shot put and discus as each made states. Isaiah Brown (300 hurdles), Kieran Purnell (110 hurdles) and Ryan Thomas (triple jump) scored wins and qualifiers, while Steve Eshelman (3200), Josh Johnson (400), Taiwan Savage (triple) and Derrick Strickland (shot put) also added state qualifiers.
Savage (800), Michael Doughty (1600), Derek Munce (high jump) and Phil Shorts (200) notched provisional qualifiers.
