        In her fourth season, Godwin has put together a strong senior year as the team’s captain. Despite running with a painful foot injury, she has stayed among the team’s scorers. Last week, she earned her first All-Kent County performance and helped the girls finish runner-up at counties and conferences.

        Cates, a three-year veteran, made an uplifting run to close out his hard-earned career, sprinting to the 7th spot on varsity at counties and then running a strong 19:47 at the Henlopen Championships at Killens Pond. He also has used his senior leadership to help inspire his younger teammates to success.

        Savage has put together a stellar rookie season, consistently placing among the team’s top runners all season long. As the team moves into the post-season meets, Savage appears poised for success after posting consecutive 18:39s — the most recent one coming Wednesday at Cape as the Bucs’ No. 3 runner.

        Sennett, a rookie senior, has made a steady bid to reach the varsity lineup by season’s end. Last week, she posted a career-best 26:16 at Cape Henlopen on Wednesday as the team’s No. 8 runner in the regular-season finale.

        Pink, a three-year veteran, made the most of his final regular-season week. After posting a career-best at Bellevue on Oct. 17, he followed that up with another best at Cape Henlopen Wednesday with a 19:34 which was good enough for his first official varsity finish.

Bliss, a rookie, continued her strong front-running, helping the girls to a pair of victories over Tech and Dover Monday and another Wednesday versus Central. She smashed a career best and became the 11th fastest MHS female with a 21:33 at Bellevue Friday.

Helmick, a three-year veteran, put together one of his best weeks in his stellar career. The junior captain started the week by outpacing all his Tech rivals, helping the Bucs to upset wins over Tech and Dover. After leading the way in a win Wednesday, he became the second fastest MHS runner ever with a 16:42 at Bellevue Friday.

Dunn, a rookie, has put forth an outstanding work ethic and also has shown some resilience after suffering a tough ankle injury to start the season. He put together a career week by first shaving nearly two minutes from his previous best and then shaving another 40 seconds for a 21:46 at White Clay Creek Friday.

Clendaniel, a freshman, has been a standby in the varsity all season long and recently finished No. 2 in back-to-back meets. She ran a best of 23:03 earlier in the season and stayed in the 23s last week with her best home course time. She got a bit faster with another strong run at White Clay Creek.

Schlegel, a three-year veteran, has stayed true to his workouts this season which helped him break through with a standout performance at the Tidewater Classic Wednesday. His 21:27 dropped his career-best by a minute.

Godwin, a four-year veteran, started the week with an outstanding workout that inspired several of her rookie teammates to raise their efforts. Fittingly enough, the captain busted into the 23s for the first time during her senior season on Wednesday.

Despite dealing with sore shins recently, Elzey has stuck to her workouts and has kept icing each night to keep improving time. She battled to a career-best 28:31 Wednesday and endured the humidity on Friday for quality showing.

Wilkins' solid, quiet work ethic as a rookie has begun to pay dividends, boosting him to a breakthrough in recent performances. Last week, he shattered a career-best, dropping his time to a strong 26:51 on Wednesday, and he followed that with another solid battle Friday.

        Eshelman’s killer work ethic shown during his spring track season has carried over to his rookie cross country season this fall. Last week, he made a big jump to the varsity, breaking into the 19s in back-to-back races and rounding out the team’s varsity five Friday.

As a rookie freshman, Moore has already made her presence amongst the varsity to start the season. She scored a breakthrough last week by shaving nearly 3 minutes from her personal best on Wednesday before breaking 25 minutes (24:54) at the Middletown Invitational Friday.

Medlarz, in her first season, already scored a breakthrough week after shaving over 10 minutes in one week. She started by busting out an 8-minute improvement in a time trial and then followed that with a 3-minute shaving at the Lake Forest Invitational.

Richardson has quietly stepped into a veteran varsity with a solid work ethic to start his career. After shaving time in a time trial earlier in the week, he followed that up with a 20:45 at the Lake Inv. -- a time good enough to earn him the No. 10 spot on the Bloom Top 10 freshman list and a varsity finish as well.

        Gibbs, a rookie, has put together an outstanding debut preseason, moving into the lead pack and training with the top returning veterans. He has scored two strong time trials with a dedicated work ethic and a commitment to improving.

        Holbruner returns as one of just a handful of veterans. After finishing her rookie season in the state meet, she has started well in 2008, consistently making practice and quietly leading by positive example in practice. Her aggressive approach in her first time trial should pay dividends.

        Butterly bursted into her final season, leading the way for the girls. After a strong September, she fought through a stress fracture late in the season, but still managed to reach All-Henlopen and All-county. Though she missed the state meet, she closed out a highly decorated 4-year career as one of the best MHSCCers ever.

        Lane made a super sophomore surge after a solid ‘06 rookie season. He opened ‘07 on the varsity for the first time and never looked back, stepping up as the No. 2 runner. He closed out with All-county and All-conference honors and a career-best 18:12 at states.

        Since rejoining the team in October, Showell has made steady progress to contribute to the varsity. Last week, he broke his career-best twice at the county and conference meets, nearly breaking 19 with a 19:02, good enough for the Bloom Top 10.

        Kramlich wrapped up a strong rookie season with a career-best 28:45 Saturday at Killens Pond in the Henlopen Championship. Her consistent work ethic proved successful as she led all MHS freshmen in total races for 2007.

        Holbruner worked hard to overcome shin injuries early in the season, but now has found her groove in her rookie season. She started the week by dropping into the 26s for the first time, and then she followed that with a career-best 25:31 on Wednesday to help the varsity.

        Dobie, who joined the team midway through the season, has recently began to get in shape. This past week, he shattered career-best times twice, dropping his time by over two minutes. He posted a 21:43 to move up the team ranks Wednesday.

        Mendiola-Cole has steadily progressed in his rookie season and recently moved up the ranks by improving his career-best time. He started the week with a 25:26 at Bellevue and then got even better with at 25 flat at home.

        Cisneros, the team co-captain, has been a mainstay as one of the varsity scorers all season. He made a breakthrough this past week by running in the 18s twice. He ran a career-best 18:51 to start the week and followed that with a stellar 18:57 at home Wednesday.

        After gaining post-season honors as a freshman, Helmick has gotten even better in 2007. His best success has come at Ron Powell Memorial Park where he ran a 17:37 to start the season and also sparked the boys to two wins last week with a 17:47.

        Murphy has steadily improved after joining the team in September. She has made appearances on the varsity and ran her career-best in Wednesday’s victories over Smyrna and Sussex Central. Supported with an excellent early-week practice, she improved her time to 28:59.

        Fisher, in her first season, has steadily gotten stronger as the season has progressed. Having missed no practices since she began with the team, she has proven her commitment to the workouts. Thus, she scored a career-best 33:59 Friday at the University of Delaware Invitational.

        Since joining the cross country team last season, Cartwright has steadily improved. He ended up amongst the varsity at the end of last season and recently shattered his career-best time with a 19:15 at White Clay Creek Friday at the University of Delaware Invitational.

        After watching his brother earn a career-best in the varsity race, Cartwright kept pace, scoring a 20:55 — which was nearly a minute faster than his career-best set in his freshman season of ‘06. He certainly has the makings of a varsity runner in the near future.

        White, a four-year veteran, has been a mainstay in the varsity for quite some time and has consistenly moved up the ranks of late to round out a solid top five. He scored a season-best 19:38 on Wednesday and then rallied for his best Brandywine time Saturday.

        Wilson has followed up her All-Kent County junior season with a stellar start to 2007 as one of the team’s top three runners. Her 23:08 on Wednesday was good enough for a new career-best and then she followed that up with her best Brandywine time on Saturday.

        Kershaw has begun to heat up as he closes out his solid four-year career this year. At Polytech Wednesday, he poured it on in the last mile to finish as the team’s No. 3 runner and also improved his season-best time to 19:46

        Clendaniel, a four-year veteran, matched her highest finish ever on the team as the girls’ No. 6 finisher in a pair of wins at Polytech Wednesday. On a very hot day, she still managed a solid time en route to her second varsity finish in her career.

        Mullen, in his second season, put together a strong week, scoring his career-best time of 22:57 at home Wednesday versus Dover and Sussex Tech. He followed that performance with a strong speed workout on Friday.

        Boone, who has been a standout hurdler for the track team, has committed to cross country running this fall, and the hard work has paid off. She improved her career best by two minutes twice in one week, finishing with a solid 28:35 at the Lake Forest Invitational on Saturday.

Butterly has entered her sophomore season extremely focused on helping the varsity squad. After a great preseason effort, she sparked '07 with her career-best 23:56 -- good enough for a runner-up medal in the Varsity C race at the Ron Powell Invitational.

         Santandrea, who spent much of the season on the team’s varsity, closed out her rookie season with a career-best time of 24:10 in the state meet on a hot day. She improved to the No. 4 spot on the team at the meet with the stellar run.

         White put together a strong finish to his junior year, moving up to the No. 3 spot on the team in the state meet and running a strong 19:31. A week ago, he ran a career-best 19:04 at conferences after placing 16th at the Kent County meet.

Griffith shaved chunks of time of her career-best time twice last week, first at the Kent County Championship and then at the Henlopen championship when she ran a 24:41. That secured her the No. 8 spot on the team.

Lane has had an outstanding finish to his rookie season, running a pair of career-best times at last week’s championships. He made the 20s for the first time Tuesday and then followed with a 19:59 to become the 7th fastest freshman under Coach Bloom.

Starnes made his senior presence felt with two strong races during the week, improving his season-best time with each one. In both races, he moved into the top 14 on the team, scoring a 21:45 at Bellevue Friday.

Santandrea, a foreign exchange student from Italy, has been a steady contributor to the varsity since mid-September. She ran a solid 26:48 at White Clay Creek State Park on Friday to round out the Bucs’ top seven finishers.

Esposito, the senior captain, has rallied in a big way of late. After returning to varsity for the first time in ‘06 at Salesianum, Esposito followed that with his best performance of the season with a 20:04 at UD —good enough to be the Bucs’ No. 5 runner.

         Butterly, who has consistently led the team since her freshman season, never fails to shine at the big meets. In fact, the team’s junior captain scored a runner-up finish (20:26) at the Tidewater Classic Wednesday and then picked up a medal at the Sallies Inv.

Morris has continued to build off a successful rookie season as the team’s junor captain in ‘06. He nearly broke 19 with a career-best 19:03 at Winterplace Park Wednesday, and then rallied for his best Brandywine time at Sallies Inv. Saturday.

         After a stellar track season, Wilson’s arrival to the team has been a key to why the girls have started 4-1. She continued her contribution to the varsity as the team’s No. 6 runner with a career-best 24:24 in wins over Poly and Seaford on Wednesday.

         Kershaw put his three seasons of varsity experience to great use on Wednesday, running a smart race and surging at the end as the team’s No. 3 runner and spurring a pack of teammates to help upset Seaford and Polytech. His 19:43 proved to be a career-best.

         In his rookie season with the cross country squad, McKnight has worked extremely hard to drop time and improve. He had a solid performance in a tough meet vs. Dover and Sussex Tech and then closed out the week with several outstanding practices.

         Creasey put together a solid week, including a gritty performance vs. Dover and Sussex Tech Wednesday. The team co-captain battled a pack of Dover girls and also finished ahead of Tech’s No. 2 runner in a 19-39 upset.

         Mitchell has joined teammate Kim Baldwin to form an impressive freshman duo with a stunning 22:56 in a 25-31 upset of CR on Wednesday. She followed that with another solid time Saturday at the Lake Inv. where she also cheered on her teammates.

         Despite a knee injury during the preseason, Baldwin recovered quickly to impact Wednesday’s 25-31 upset of CR. She ran a career-best 22:51 as the team’s No. 2 runner and then matched the time again at the Lake Invitational on Saturday.

         In his first season, Helmick has stepped to the forefront as the team’s No. 1 runner. He ran well at his first big invitational by scoring a 19:33 at the Lake Inv. Saturday. In just three reaces, he has become the 6th fastest MHS freshman in the past 9 years.

Since a solid rookie season in ‘05, Cisneros has transformed himself into one of the team’s top runners. He opened ‘06 with a career-best 19:59 at Ron Powell Saturday. He not only ran as the team’s No. 2 runner, but he shattered a PR by two minutes.

After a strong finish to her freshman season, Godwin has worked extra hard in preseason ‘06, and it showed at the Ron Powell Invitational Saturday. The extra effort paced her to a 23:52 — good enough to secure her as the team’s No. 2 runner. She also claimed a medal.

Butterly, who ran as the team’s frontrunner the entire season, closed out her spectacular season with a 14th-place medal in the Div. II state meet, scoring her fastest Brandywine time of 21:59. She also placed second in county and conference.

Holloway, who had been bumped to 8th on the team at conference, stepped in at states with an outstanding senior performance. In his final race, he placed a career-best third on the team and scored his fastest Brandywine time, a 21:19.

Fisher has made an impressive splash on the MHSCC team as a rookie freshman. Recently, he has made a consistent run in the varsity and surged to No. 3 on the team with a career-best 20:31 at Killens Pond at Saturday's Henlopen Championships.

        With a deep squad, Moreau has had to battle this season to return to the varsity, but he scored a huge race on Saturday at the Henlopen Conference Championships with a career-best 20:41 to make the state meet top 7 for his second-straight season.

Jenkins has been yet another rookie on a young boys team that continues to improve throughout the season. He capped a strong week with his career-best 22:50 at the Kent County Championships Saturday.

As senior captain, Godwin has been a model of consistency in practice and in competition. Routinely in the top three for much of the past two seasons, she got the payoff for all her hard work, making All-Kent County for the first time with a 22:16.

Luiken became the team's emotional leader early in the preseason as he made his first appearance with the team. In his first and final season, he became a mainstay in the top 5 runners as one of the team's most important scorers.

Battaglia, a four-year veteran, earned the ultimate senior finale by running his way into his first state meet. He scored a Killens best 20:18 on Tuesday which also put him on the varsity for conference.

Matthews, in his second season, has been a key ingredient to the team's success as he has made incredible strides, claiming the team's top spot over the past two races. His Killens best of 18:34 earned him All-Kent County on Tuesday.


Nov. 3, 2003: Dana Rathfon and Mallory Littleton, seniors

Littleton returned for her senior year after missing last season and steadily moved up the ranks. She ran a Killens Pond best of 25:51 in Tuesday's Kent County race and then ran her way onto the varsity on Saturday.

Rathfon completed her four-year career perfectly by making the varsity and running a Killens best 26:30 on Saturday. Unfortunately, she miss the state meet since she'll be leaving for vacation.

Leitzell, a rookie, has made a smooth transition since transferring from Washington State. He has been consistently on the varsity the entire season and scored a career-best 20:02 in Wednesday's win that clinched the team's South crown.

Purnell, in her rookie season after running track for two years, has made a serious impact on the varsity and has gotten in a groove over the past few weeks, becoming a mainstay in the team's Top 7. After a 25:38 Wednesday, she appears poised to reach varsity for the postseason.

From her first race, Creasey moved into the varsity lineup as a freshman and has yet to be bumped from the top 7. It doesn't appear that will happen anytime soon either as she snapped off a career-best of 23:50 on Friday as the team's fourth runner.

Smith, the team co-captain and four-year vet, scored a senior moment Friday afternoon busting out an 18:55 to place fourth on the team. His previous best had been 19:50 a year ago.

Houck has gotten to a good start on his career, setting a career-best 22:08 on Friday at White Clay Creek. He began the week with a home-course best of 23:51 and continues to move up the team ranks.

Coming off a solid week, Young kept on cruising by starting last week as the team's No. 6 runner in a win versus Delmar. She surged to the front with her first No. 1 team finish and a career-best 24:49 at White Clay Creek on Friday.

After nursing an injury for a brief time early in the season, Holloway has gotten in a groove in his second season. He crushed a career-best with a 20:51 on Wednesday before reaching varsity with a 21:52 -- 2 minutes faster than '02 -- at Brandywine.

McDonnell has made the jump to the team's top spot with several stellar races over the past few weeks. She collected a career-best 23:06 in Salisbury Wednesday and then followed that with a 24:23 at Brandywine -- her best on the hills by nearly 5 minutes.

Short, a senior, has made a wonderful comeback after spending last season inactive with a toe injury. She scored a career-best time of 26:15 on Wednesday and moved up to fourth on the varsity -- a place she's been on her entire career.

Pastor has made a considerable jump from last year's freshman season. He shattered a career-best Wednesday with a 25:56 -- a time more than four minutes faster than a year ago.

Purnell has worked extremely hard during his rookie preseason and his efforts are beginning to reap some benefits. Twice this week, he ran career-best times, including an outstanding sprint to the finish in Saturday's Lake Forest Invitational.

Farley has picked up nearly where she left off during her rookie season in '02 as she has already approached a career time. Last week, she ran two season best times, knocked down two goal times and continued to stay about four minutes faster than her pace in '02.

Wyman, one of the team's co-captains, made a serious statement about his senior year as he battled Cape's top runner and pulled off an 18:57 in his season opener. He followed that by scoring the team's best time in Saturday's invite.

Palumbo put together an extremely consistent senior season staying on varsity throughout the year. Over the final weeks, he cemented himself as the team's No. 4 runner and wrapped up states in that position with a 19:34.

Fitzpatrick has had a consistent sophomore season after missing most of her rookie year as a freshman. She ran a 24:00 flat -- more than two minutes faster than her previous Killens best -- in Saturday's Henlopen Championship.

Short, a three-year veteran, wrapped up his Henlopen career in style by running to an All-Kent County performance on Tuesday and then a second-team All-Henlopen finish on Saturday with an 18:06.

Gerken, a rookie, a has successfully returned from a mid-season shin injury that set her back. Since returning, she has run three consecutive career-best times, including a 29:42 on Wednesday to break the half-hour barrier for the first time.

Hall, a three-year vet and co-captain, has had a wonderfully consistent season as well as a stellar career. He wrapped up his final regular-season race at home Wednesday with a home-course best of 18:27 -- just 20 seconds off a career-best. Most importantly, he took the team's third spot to help put away Seaford.

Kenton proved in a big way that she's faster than her freshman season by scoring a career-best 21:40 at the Bellevue Invitational on Friday. That time officially moved her to No. 8 on the MHS All-time Fastest 5K list. She also finished as the team's top runner Wednesday, despite a rough spill early in the race.

White continues to push the varsity in his rookie season. On Friday at Bellevue, he finished as the team's No. 7 runner with a stunning 19:17. His time makes him the Bucs' 10th runner to break 20 minutes for the season.

Holloway ran as the only guy to get two career-bests last week, first scoring a 22:18 at the hilly University of Delaware Invitational and then blazing to a 21:27 at Bellevue. He scored the third fastest freshman time for the Bucs at Bellevue in the past five years.

In her rookie season, Farley has developed some great strides since opening the season. She shaved off roughly three minutes from her career-best Wednesday, breaking into the 32s -- nearly 10 minutes faster than in August.

Since joining the team in early September, Matthews has made a push to crack a very solid varsity seven. With a career-best 19:41 Wednesday, he pulled within 30 seconds of a varsity spot -- proving he can be a future star for the Bucs.

O'Neill scored a career-best 28:08 at Salisbury in the Tidewater Classic Wednesday to score a varsity spot and she then followed that with her best time at Brandywine on Saturday with a 33:03 -- nearly four minutes faster than her previous best.

Battaglia ran his second-fastest time ever Wednesday at Salisbury in the Tidewater Classic and then followed that with his best time ever at Brandywine Creek (23:23) on Saturday to earn the team's No. 7 spot -- his first career varsity finish.

Seagraves, in her second season, has made a push to join the Top 7. She has worked extremely hard in practice and reaped the benefits Wednesday with her best time of the season, 27:45 -- nearly a career-best.

Carpenter, team co-captain, started the week by putting together his quickest mile split during repeats in practice. Consequently, he followed that with a career-best 16:53 at Redden State Forest to move up to No. 2 on the MHS All-time Fastest 5K list.

With just a few races under her belt, McDonnell has already stepped to the team's top spot by running a career-best 24:34 on Wednesday. She remained No. 1 on the team at Saturday's Lake Forest Invitational with an even better 24:33.

In his third-straight season on varsity, Jon has made sure he's an important figure in the Top 7 after running a 19:43 as the team's fourth man on Wednesday. He followed that by matching his career best (19:17) as the team's third man at Saturday's Lake Forest Invitational.

Zedney, in her first full season with MHSCC, has picked up right where she left off after a strong rookie track season in the spring. She started the ‘02 season Wednesday with her best time at Brandywine, and she’s right on target for a career-best time overall very soon.

Smith, a three-year vet, has put together his best start to any season to date. He officially opened ‘02 with a solid battle Wednesday on the hills of Brandywine, scoring a career course best by three minutes, and then he followed with an excellent practice on Friday.

Godwin, one of several newcomers making an impact early, has been at each preseason practice challenging for a Top 7 position. In her first time trial, she finished as the team’s top runner and has hit her goal times consistently building her case as a Buccaneer future star.

Demby, one of three four-year veterans on the squad, has built a strong foundation for his final year with an outstanding preseason effort. He has hit his goal times in each of his time trials and has established himself as one of the team’s top varsity challengers.

Miller has been a model of consistency this season and throughout his four-year varsity career. He broke through last week with a season-best 18:44 Tuesday and another solid 18:48 at the Henlopen Championships Saturday.

Seagraves shattered a career-best time with a stunning 27:22 at home Tuesday in the Kent County Championships. Although she had a tough race in Saturday's conference meet, she put together a strong rookie season.

Penney put together his best performance on one of the toughest days of the season at Seaford Wednesday. His 24:17 in the hot sun proved good enough for a career-best (must have been Monday's sickning speed work).

Zedney has become a surprise addition after joining the team late in the season. She has surged onto varsity, most recently earning the team's No. 5 spot with a 26:44 at Seaford Wednesday.

A rookie senior, Nixdorf, has set his goals high and has achieved them, as well. He scored a career-best 21:30 at Bellevue and has had a positive team attitude throughout the season.


Oct. 22: ASHLEY ZIMMERMAN, SENIOR

In her first season, Zimmerman has continually improved since day one. She finally scored her break-through day with a gutsy 28:51 at Bellevue. She finished with a large scrape on her knee after falling midway through the race.


Oct. 22: MAIRE O'NEILL, FRESHMAN

O'Neill has worked hard all season to break the 30-minute barrier and she did it twice last week, finishing with her career-best 29:19 at Bellevue.


Oct. 15: CHAD CARPENTER, JUNIOR

Carpenter came through well against some top competition. Duking it out with Cape's pack of front-runners Wednesday, he finished just seconds behind Matt Jackson before running with some of state's best at White Clay Friday en route to a season-best 17:15.


Oct. 15: AMANDA MEADE, SOPHOMORE

Meade started the week with a season-best versus Cape and then cruised to a career-best 25:19 at White Clay Friday to secure the Top 5 on varsity.


Oct. 15: KOURTNEY SHORT, SOPHOMORE

Short, who has been recovering from a sore knee, twice ran a 24:46 last week to match her season-best. She has been a mainstay in varsity since joining the team as a freshman.


Oct. 8: SCOTT HALL, JUNIOR

As the team's co-captain, Hall has been a mainstay in the varsity all season and finally broke through with a huge week, earning his first individual award with a 13th-place finish and a career-best 18:48 at Salisbury and a solid run Saturday at Sallies.


Oct. 8: LINDSAY KENTON, FRESHMAN

Since her early start with the team this summer, Kenton has made an immediate impact in the Top 7 and has continually improved. Last week, she earned her first individual award with a 12th-place trophy at Salisbury with a career-best 22:58.


Oct. 1: CHRIS DEMBY, JUNIOR

After fighting leg problems his first two seasons, Demby has worked hard to become a key force in the Bucs' lineup. Already this season, he has run a career-best five different times, including Sept. 26 versus Caesar Rodney when he ran a 20:20. He also finished the week with a great bike performance in the Barnyard Biathlon!


Oct. 1: MALLORY LITTLETON, SOPHOMORE

Littleton has been Ms. Perfect all season long, not missing a practice, and all the hard work has paid off. The first-year runner has been on varsity since day one, and she earned her career-best, a 26:39 against Caesar Rodney Sept. 26.


Sept. 24: JOEY PALUMBO, JUNIOR

It's not often that a runner makes such an early bid for a second Trailblazer of the season, but Palumbo came up with a shocking career-best performance at just the right time. His 18:54 shattered a best by a minutes, surging him into the team's No. 2 spot helping the Bucs upend Lake on Wednesday.


Sept. 24: AMY MALLAMO, SOPHOMORE

After a stellar freshman CC and T&F season, Mallamo has returned even stronger this fall. Consistently in the 21s this season so far, she is closing in on her career best after an exciting victory at Lake on Wednesday - her 15th birthday.


Sept. 17: CHAD CARPENTER, JUNIOR

Carpenter has started out of the gates well after a strong track season. In his opener, he knocked off the defending Division II individual champion and then ran a season-best 17:20 to take fourth at the Lake Forest Invitational.


Sept. 17: BRIGID O'NEILL, SENIOR CAPTAIN

Already in her first two meets, O'Neill has shown great leadership helping the team to its best chemistry in years. She's also done well for herself, already running faster than any of last season's times. Her 28:15 at Saturday's Lake Invitational was nearly two minutes faster than a year ago and good enough for No. 7 on the team.


Sept. 10: KEITH SHORT, JUNIOR

Short has been a key contributor during the preseason earning nearly perfect attendance. After officially giving up soccer and joining the CC team after last year's first meet, Short has continually gotten stronger. Successful time trials have him looking good as at least the team's No. 3 runner - maybe even higher.


Sept. 10: MEGAN PASTOR, JUNIOR

Another runner with great attendance, Pastor has stayed focus as she tries to return to her stellar freshman form that got her under the 25-minute barrier. She capped a solid week of practice by reaching her goal time in Friday's time trial.


Sept. 3: JOEY PALUMBO, JUNIOR

Despite band camp during the first week, Palumbo still made sure to get to CC practice and train hard which has helped him close in on career-best times already. The returning varsity runner snapped off a 21:32 Thursday vs. CR at KPSP and then came back with a 20:01 - just seven seconds off his best - Saturday.


Sept. 3: JESSICA FITZPATRICK, FRESHMAN

With so many ladies committing so well to the program, Coach Bloom and Coach Kenton had trouble deciding on a clear-cut Trailblazer, but Jessica made herself known with a sizzling 27:37 Saturday at KPSP. Just two days earlier, she ran a 29:31 - just a week after running a 32+.
