Milford Millponds Nature Preserve
MHSCC home course. Parking/entrance located off Abbotts Pond Road.
Bellevue State Park
Bellevue State Park is located adjacent to I-95 about 2.5 miles north of Wilmington. Take the Marsh Road exit off I-95 North and turn left onto Carr Road at the end of the exit ramp. Cross over Marsh Road and continue on Carr Road to the park entrance.
Carole Carpenter's more specific directions: Go North on Rt. 1 all the way past Smyrna, through the toll booth before the bridge.
Cross the Canal bridge and stay on Rt. 1 until just past the Christiana Mall exit.
Be careful of traffic exiting the Mall coming down an exit ramp on your right as you are trying to move into the right lane to exit onto Rt. 95 North. As soon as you can, get over into the left hand lane on Rt. 95 North. (Do Not take the exits for 295 Delaware Memorial Bridge or 495 East/North to Philadelphia.) The road will add a lane to your left, but as long as you are in the first or second lane from the left you will be okay. You will cross a bridge and see the Blue Rocks stadium on the right. You will continue on through Wilmington, staying on Rt. 95. You will pass the exit for Rt. 202 North. Begin looking for the Marsh Road Exit, which is just a few miles further.
Exit to the right. You will come to a stop sign (I think) and make a left turn onto Carr Road. There is very quickly an intersection with Marsh Road. You do not want to turn left onto Marsh Road. You will be going straight across Marsh Road, so get in the right lane but don’t take the right turn ramp. [Depending on road construction, you may need to make a quick right turn, get in the left lane, and make a quick left turn, but I think that is done now.] (If you mess up and turn right, don’t panic. Just go down a quarter mile and turn around. No problems!) Continue on Carr Road. It will look like you are headed back out onto Rt. 95 but bear off to the right and you will see the entrance to Bellevue State Park. Make the right turn into the park and follow the road around its winding way to the parking lot.
When you leave : turn left out of the park. Get into the right hand lane of Carr Road. At the intersection with Marsh Road, turn right onto Marsh Road North and then immediately get into the left lane. Go under the overpass and take the left turn onto the entrance ramp for Rt. 95 South.
Blackbird State Forest
Just North of Smyrna. Follow Route 1 North until sign for Blackbird State Forest on the left. Turn and head down road a few miles until you'll see forest entrance.
Brandywine Creek S.P.
Bloom's and Carole Carpenter's suggestion: Either from I-95 (via Route 1) or Route 13, you will be taking the exit for North Rt. 141. Stay on Rt. 141 North. It will eventually be joined by Rt. 100 North. Just past Rt. 52 you will be looking for the lefthand turn for Rt. 100 North. I don't remember it being real well marked so stay sharp. If you get to Powder Mill Road, turn around cause you went too far. (Actually I think that bridge might be closed now anyway.) Follow Rt. 100 (also called Monchanin Road) past some incredibly cool estates and over some hills and dips with absolutely NO SHOULDERS. You will come to a valley with a four way intersection (Thompson Bridge Road at Adams Dam Road). Turn right and go a couple hundred feet and then turn left into the park.
Info from race form: Take I-95 North into Wilmington. Take Exit 8 (Route 202) North for 1.3 miles to light at Rt. 141 (Zeneca building on the left). Make a left onto Rt 141 and travel .4 miles in left lane to the light for Rockland Road. Follow Rockland Road for 2.1 miles, passing DuPont Country Club, to the entrance to Brandywine Creek State Park.
Several ways exist to get through Wilmington, so feel free to blaze your own trail, so to speak. There are no guarantees that the above info is the fastest route. Have fun.

Previously called Carpenter State Park, this course is located two miles North of Newark on Route 896, the main north-south street passing through Newark in the University of Delaware campus area.
Here's Carole Carpenter's optional route: Take Rt. 1 North. Cross the “new” Canal bridge. (Take exit just past the bridge.)From Rt. 1 take the Exit for Route 72 West (and Delaware City). At the top of the exit ramp, turn left so that you are going west on Rt. 72 (also called Wrangle Hill Road). Follow Rt. 72 North. Keep going past Rt. 71. Go a long way. Keep going past Old Baltimore Pike. Get into the left hand lane and prepare to turn at the next big intersection. (Do NOT turn into the parking lot for the old Caldor Store.) At the intersection of Rt. 72 North with Rts. 2-Rt. 4 (also called East Chestnut Hill Road) you will see a big 7-11 store across the way, but you want to turn left and immediately get into the right hand lane. You shortly will cross some railroad tracks and see the UD stadium on your right. At the next big intersection, where Rts.2-Rt.4 cross Rt. 896 North (also called South College Ave.), turn right so that you are headed north on South College Ave. You will pass the UD gym and ice rinks on the right and the Chrysler plant on the left. You will go over a little humpy bridge and come down right smack in the middle of UD. Keep going north past the UD library and Student Center. At Main Street, turn left and immediately begin looking for a split in the road. You do NOT want Rt. 273/2 South. You do NOT want West Main Street. You want to take the right side of the split onto 896 North. You will pass the UD towers and Conference Center. After a mile or two you will see a small sign on the right for White Clay Creek State Park. The driveway is kind of winding but will take you to the parking field, which is right next to the starting line.
Winterplace Park
Take route 13 bypass past the Center at Salisbury (large mall complex). Exit 50 toward Ocean City. Turn left of HWY 50 at Shorebirds Baseball Stadium onto Hobbs Road. Take next right into Winterplace Park. Continue 1/2 to 3/4 mile and take last left into park on Blue Ribbon Drive. Turn right into parking lot.
