GRIZZLIES 9 - TITANS 22
6/28/9 - Like was said before the game, "There's no other way to describe it", the same is true about the butt whooping the Titans put on the Grizzlies last night. The Titans jumped out to a 16 - 0 lead early in the 2nd quarter by pounding the ball down the Grizz throat. Something that hasn't been done since back in 2005. In fact, this is the first time since 2005 that a team has scored more than two offensive TD's against the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies offensive line had many a problems on the night, unable to keep the pressure off the Grizz QB's all night long. With that being an issue, the Grizzlies were able to muster only 9 points on the evening, getting close a couple more times, but unable to do anything about it. The Grizzlies were able to close the gap in the second quarter with a TD pass from QB Russ Lovett to WR Terrry Luster, but then but failed on a two point conversion attempt, making the score16 - 6 at halftime. After the Titans took the opening kickoff of the second half on a 10 minute drive, the Grizz defense stiffened, allowing the Grizzlies to get K Kevin Van Voris in range for a field goal attempt. Grizz still down 16 - 9, but making a game of it. A couple of more drives that stalled would be the difference, the Grizz were never able to make it back into the end zone. The proverbial nail in the coffin came with about 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter when Titan scatback Afton Harris took a handoff about 40 yards up the middle, leaving Grizz defenders grasping at air, for the final points of the game 22 - 9.
