MGSL BYLAWS

MGSL History

Manchester Girls Softball League is celebrating its 34th year in 2008 providing recreational softball for girls in Manchester, and the surrounding communities. MGSL currently has more than 240 girls playing fast pitch softball under the Babe Ruth charter. The League is divided into five divisions: Mites, Minors, Juniors, Seniors. We currently have 20 teams. The league teaches the fundamentals of softball in a fun family environment.

MGSL Home Field

All games are played at the Padden Field complex located off Bridge Street Extension. Our complex is one of the best in the city with two lighted softball fields, outfield fences, dugouts, scoreboards, and the best concession stand in Manchester.

Season Information

Seniors: Ages 13-16 - The teams begin practices in April with games starting in late April and ending when school gets out in the middle of June. Teams will play a 12 game schedule on set weeknights 6:00 PM and some Sunday afternoons.

Juniors: Ages 11-12 (also 10 year olds who display the basic skills) - Each team will play a 12 game schedule, with playoffs at the end of the season. Games are scheduled 2 or 3 times per week at 6:00 PM with some Saturday games during the month of May and the season ends the middle of June.

Minors: Ages 9-10 (also 8 year olds with prior experience) - Each team will play 12 games. The schedule will be weeknights and some weekends. Usually 2 games per week with some Saturday games. The weekday start times will be at 5:50 with the game time set for 75 minutes.

Mites: Ages 5-8 and first year players. Each team will play a 12 game schedule with a progressive season. Different fundamentals will be introduced each week with the girls playing a real game with umpires at the end of the season. This level is strictly fun for the girls as they learn the rules of the game.
