MGBSA: My Site News

Our Philosophy and Program

MGBSA is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to providing organized baseball and softball to children ages 6-14. All children in Morton Grove and nearby communities are welcome to play in our spring leagues, regardless of experience.

The goal of our program is to let children have fun, develop self-confidence, and demonstrate good sportsmanship and citizenship. Winning is not emphasized, but we seek to have all participants learn the fundamentals of the sport.

We offer Spring leagues in both softball and baseball.  Girls' softball divisions are as follows:  Pigtail Age 6-8, Jr. Ponytail Age 9-10, Ponytail Age 11-12, Sr. Ponytail Age 13-14.  Our boys' baseball divisions are as follows: Rookie Age 6-8, Minors Age 9-10, Majors Age 11-12, Ponys Age 13-14.  Games are played at parks in Morton Grove and neighboring villages, and we schedule games at least one night a year under the lights at Harrer Park.

Practices for the spring leagues start at the beginning of April; the regular season begins around May 1; league playoffs for boys end mid June; playoffs for girls end just before the July 4th holiday.  Summer all-star teams open by competitive tryout where there is interest and volunteer support.

MGBSA also offers all star programs on for both the baseball and softball leagues.

Letter from the President

Dear MGBSA Families,

Our Spring 2012 season is quickly approaching and our registration drive has already begun!   While there are many ways to register, the easiest is through following the registration link from our website at www.mgbsa.com.  Alternately, you can go into Prairie View and register any time or during one of our walk-in dates.  Finally, and an actual fun way to register, you can come to one of our Winter Workout sessions (dates and times listed on our website).

Prairie View Walk-In Dates

Saturday, February 11th, 10am to 2pm

Tuesday, February 15th, 4:30pm to 6pm

As you all know, MGBSA operates strictly on a volunteer basis, which makes parental involvement both on and off the field why we succeed.  In short, we need your help: if at all possible, register yourself (or your spouse) to coach, be a team parent, assist with our Special Events, or just get the word out during our registration drive, please send us an email through information@mgbsa.com & we will give you clear direction on what you can do.

I am thankful for my board and the families of MGBSA for their continual support!

Sincerely,

Yvette Karp

President of MGBSA
