***Update for 2011 Bat Selection ***
PARENTS:
Before you go out and buy that expensive bat for the 2011 season, please note that USSSA baseball has specific rules for 14U baseball and higher age level baseball participation. Please note that your son can play at age 14U level ball with a composite bat, however should we play up in age division he will not be able to use it as USSSA (and I'm assuming other sanctioned organizations...I'll be checking) will comply with the National Federation of High Schools 2011 rules and regulations.

ATTENTION: Junior, Senior, and Big League Baseball Divisions of Little League
Moratorium on Composite Bats
A moratorium on the use of composite bats in the Junior, Senior, and Big League Baseball Divisions of Little League was enacted on Aug. 27, 2010, by the Little League Intl Board of Directors, effective immediately and until further notice by Little League International. The moratorium closely follows a similar moratorium approved by the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS). Little League has begun compiling a list of bat models that have received waivers of the moratorium. That list may be found here: http://www.littleleague.org/ learn/equipment/approvedcompbats.htm
Not covered under the Little League moratorium are wood bats, metal bats, or bats that have composite materials in the handle only. Currently, the moratorium does not apply to the Little League Baseball (Majors) Division and below, nor does it apply to any division of softball. Little League International is in consultation with independent experts and anticipates being able to provide local league constituents clear direction regarding composite bats in the Little League Baseball (Majors) 12-and-under divisions, prior to the start of the 2011 season.
