Tigers Update - June 20th

would like to see if there is interest in having a practice on Friday at Oakwood from 3 - 5 pm. Please let me know if your son can make it. I believe Dylan and Andrew B will still be out of town. Connor will miss our pool play games but there is expected to be more games after that so if he is available, that would be great.

Please let me know one way or another and for those that are interested, I will email or call between Thursday night and Friday morning to advise if the practice will take place.

I also have:

  • Information for the Jim Gantner Baseball camp taking place July 16 - 19. Cost is $175.
  • A batting cage token for each of the players for Helmann's located at 199th and Silver Spring. Please let me know if you Do or Don't want one of these. Tokens not claimed will be distributed to others that intend to use them.

I will have both of these at practice on Friday (if held) and again on Saturday

We looked pretty good through the first few innings of the game last night. We struggled pitching in the A's big inning. This coupled with some errors, base running issues, watching third strikes go by along with a general lack of enthusiasm, contributed to our outcome. I wish I knew the trick to get the players fired up as we move into the tournament. If you have any ideas on how to pump them up, please let me know.

Saturday, June 23rd is a big day for MFLL.  We celebrate Grandparents and our Community. The league will collect items for the Menomonee Falls Food Pantry, have a "Shred Truck" Fundraiser, and top it off with the annual Coaches Dunk Tank. All proceeds from the Dunk Tank will go the the Food Pantry.  Details on all of this are available on the website.

  • Wednesday, June 20th - Two people needed at the lower concessions from 5:30 - close.
  • Friday, June 21st - One person to work lower concessions from 5:30pm to close.
  • Saturday, June 23rd - Volunteer opportunities extend from 8:00am - 5:30pm (2-3 hour shifts), and your kids can help too.

Help is needed to collect food for the Menomonee Falls Food Pantry and help run the Dunk Tank.  This does count toward Concessions hours.  The league encourages kids to help out!

Please email if you are interested.

Upcoming Snack Schedule

Hello all,

Just trying to touch base on snacks. For Thurs. I have the Burzinski family, for Saturday I have the Pettifords, Sunday I have the Owens and on Tuesday I have the Gawronski family. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know!

Next Saturday, (June 16th from 3-7), I have Lori and Juegen Gieske and Julie Schmidt for concessions.

Believe it or not, I am trying to put the end of season plans in motion. I would like to know what weeknight works best for everyone and your availability in late July or early August. Please get back to me when you have a basic inkling of when you might be available.

Thank you,

Marilyn Owens

It is very likely we will play on June 7th. The Mets have secured all but one of the players they will need so they are optimistic.

Those attending the game on Thursday, please be there no later than 5 pm.

Those going on their class trips, have good time and do not get to tired out that you are not ready for Saturday.

May 23rd Update

Team pictures
We have 3 extra 5 x 7 team pictures. If anybody is interest in one, please let me know.

I believe the boys have off on Friday and seeing the weather is suppose to be nice, I was thinking of seeing how many would be avaiable to practice that day. I was goint to do some batting practice and perhaps some other things depending upon how many are interested. The plan would be to conduct this at 3 pm at Oakwood (the park buried behind the newer subdivision just south of Good Hope between Lilly and Pilgrim). That way we do not need to deal with the tarps.

If you are able to make it, please let me know. If getting there is the issue, let me know that as well and I will see what I can do.

May 17th game
I unfortunately I do not have an update with regards to the situation that arose after our game last Thursday. As soon as I do, I will let you know.

Volunteer Opportunities (May 15th)

Lots going on this week. Because of the rain-outs from Opening Day, and then again tonight, there are a lot of games being rescheduled, which means there is a need for extra concession coverage.

Please remember, everyone working in the concession stand will need to wear a hat. If you forget your hat, there are hats available for sale in the concession stands.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Wednesday the 16th - 1 person at the lowers, 1 person at the uppers.

Friday the 18th - 1 person at the uppers

Saturday the 19th - 2 people at the lowers from 8-11:30, 1 person from 10:00-11:30.

Saturday - Park Clean-up needs to be done in the early evening, around 5:00. Email me for details on this.

Sunday - Coverage is needed in both the Uppers and Lowers from 11:30 - game end. This is about 7:00 at the lowers, closer to 7:30-8:00 at the Uppers. We usually split the shifts in half - 11:30 - 3:30 and 3;30 - Close. It would be great if you can work a partial shift, if not an entire shift. The teams that had concessions on Opening Day will get first opportunity for the hours, but I need to know by Thursday, 5:00, then will open it up to anyone. Individuals are welcome to email me directly. Just let me know what team you are on. (BB or SB, Division, Team name)

Tonight's rain-outs will likely be rescheduled for Friday June 1st and Sunday, June 3rd. I will need concessions coverage on these dates. I will send out specific times as we get closer to those dates.

Last 3 Practices!!

We only have 3 more scheduled practices before the start of the season with one of those hopefully being a scrimmage. Please plan on us going 2 hours for these practices as we still have several things that we would like to go over that we have not been able to with limited access to the infield.

Saturday, April 21
General Information - April 21

Please let me know if any of the players that want to pitch have not had the opportunity to do so. We can never have enough pitchers. I mentioned those that have practiced pitching to practice at home as well. Even if they do not have anybody to throw to, they can practice without a glove and ball by just going through the motions. They should ensure that they keep their eye on the target, follow through on each throw and watch where there feet end up when they complete the throw. Ideally they should finish almost in a infielders position.

Last Saturday there was a green sweatshirt left behind. See me to claim it.

I have already received some dates that players will not be able to make games. Please be sure to get this information to myself and coach Joe.

See you Monday

Coach Tom

Picture and Field Maintenance Day

PICTURE DAY – Saturday, April 21st

Please remember Picture Day/Silent Auction/Tri-Star Baseball Contest is scheduled for tomorrow at Ben Franklin. Picture Day runs from 8:00am ~ 2:00pm. YOUR actual photo time varies from team to team. Please check your player packets or check with your coaches/team parents for your specific time.

Besides the Silent Auction Fundraiser (lots of great items to bid on) and the Tri-Star Baseball Contest (great fun), we will be offering concessions, MFLL merchandise, in addition to Jason being available for bat checks. If you have not received a 2012 sticker for your baseball bat (Baseball divisions AA~Big League only; T-Ball & Softball divisions are exempt), please see Jason as soon as possible to have your bat checked/certified for play.

FIELD MAINTENANCE DAY – Sunday, April 22nd

The MFLL Information Hotline (414) 299-9000 has been updated daily this week with reminders for our annual Spring Field Maintenance Day in honor of Earth Day. We could some hardworking volunteers to assist in grooming the fields and prepping the Complex/Holy Cross (West Field) for Opening Day, May 5th. This time counts towards your required volunteer hours. We are meeting at 12:00p on Sunday at the bleachers at LL4. From there, we will discuss the day’s agenda & break off into groups. It should be a great day! Please check our website for more information. If you are able to come, please e-mail Heather Fieldhack @

Sunday, April 15
Parental Help Required

As you should know by now our team parent is Marilyn Owens (Jordan Owens mom). Please coordinate with her on any of the non-practice or directly related game aspects of being a parent of a player in the Menomonee Falls Little League.

Pitch Count & Field Maintenance

Pitch Count and Field Maintenance are areas where we could use your help. By chalking the field before the game gives the coaches time to warm up the players and make any last minute line-up changes. By doing pitch count, this frees up the bench coach to keep the players engaged in the game when they are on the bench and talk strategy.

Field maintenance involves

  • chalking the field when we are the home team.
  • raking is required after the game when we are the visiting team.

Pitch Count is a requirement and we should keep track for both teams. Our coaches should be notified when a pitcher from either team gets to 80 pitches. The coach may ask to be notified at other times during the game. This will be needed based upon the number of days before our next scheduled game.

Practice Participation

We only have five more practices before the season begins so we do not have much time to get ready before our first game. I know many of you had the opportunity to get away for spring break. We hope that you came back refreshed. We do ask that you please make every effort to have the players here for the remainder of the practices so we can be in good shape for the opening of the season.

Lost & Found

I have a green sweatshirt that was left on the fence after the April 14th practice. I will have it with me on April 21st as I will unfortunately not be able to attend this Monday’s practice.

I believe that is it. If you ever have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please let Joe or Mike or I know. We are thoroughly looking forward to practicing and getting the kids ready for opening day which will be on May 5th (Saturday) at 4:00 pm against the Dodgers.

Items to be completed are: put out the remaining trash cans, place all the picnic tables, trash & weed pickup/pull, field grooming on all fields + Holy Cross.
