The purpose of the Maryland Football and Cheerleading Association (“MFA”) is to promote and foster the sport of youth football and cheerleading. Football and cheerleading for youths are activities that offer its participants outstanding opportunities to grow physically, mentally and spiritually. Many factors important to molding the character of the adolescent are evident on the football field and in the cheerleading activities.
Through football and cheerleading, our youth come face to face with the value of cooperation, self-denial, and sacrifice and receive a true meaning of teamwork and placing the good of the team above themselves. The hard knocks of the body contact, the bitter taste of defeat, and the constant desire and drive to improve one’s self, are the rocks of strength that our youths develop as they grow into adulthood. Lessons of character learned in football and cheerleading are strengthened as days flow into years; they are invaluable in preparing today’s youths to become tomorrow’s active and productive citizens. To an extraordinary degree, the characters of these youth are in the hands of the coaches and other volunteers who unselfishly step forward to be an active part of their lives. These persons give much of their time and energy so that cheerleading and football, as recreational activities, can be peruses to provide a lifetime of fun and wholesome experience for all their participants.
MFA is in the process of revamping its website. We hope that our website will be resource for parents, program directors, coaches, teams, and volunteers. Please be patient as we continue to update and revamp our website. Look for new features and improved features soon!
