MetroWest Little League: Safety Plan

MWLL Safety Code Rules Instruction

The Board Members of MetroWest Little League has mandated the following Safety Code.  All managers and coaches will adhere to these policies at all times.  If you have any questions or concerns regading the following policies, please contact our Safety Office or any MWLL Board Member.

 

  • Responsibility of safety procedures belong to every adult member of MetroWest Little League.
  • Each player, manager, coach and umpire shall use proper reasoning and care to prevent injury to him/herself and to others.
  • Only league approved managers and coaches are allowed to practice teams.
  • Arrangement should be made in advance of all games and practices for emergency medical services to be easily reached.
  • Managers, coaches and umpires will have mandatory training in First Aid.
  • First Aid kits are issued to each team manager during preseason and additional kit(s) will be located in the concession stand.
  • No games or practices will be held when weather or field conditions are poor, particular when lighting is inadequate.
  • Play area will be inspected before games and practices for holes, damage, stones, glass and any other foreign objects that may cause harm or injury.
  • Team equipment should be stored within the team dugout or behind screens and not be in the area defined as "in play".
  • Only players, managers coaches and umpires are permitted on the playing field or in the dugout during games and practices.
  • During practice and games, all players, managers and coaches should be alert and watching the batter on each pitch.
  • During warm-up drills, players should be spaced so that no one is endangered by wild throws or missed catches.
  • All pre-game warm-ups should be performed within the confines of the playing field or batting cages.
  • Equipment should be inspected on a regular basis for good condition and proper fit.
  • Batters must wear Little League approved protective helmets that bare the NOCSAE seal during batting practice and games.
  • Except when a runner is returning to base, head first slides are NOT PERMITTED (exception: juniors and seniors may slide head first).
  • At no time should "horse play" be permitted on the playing field.
  • On deck batters are not permitted (exception is juniors/seniors in designated areas, and always behind the batter).
  • Game balls must be official Little League certified balls and be appropriate version depending on division.
  • All male players must wear cups during games.  Catchers must wear a cup and long chest protector (exception: unior/seniors may wear short chect protectors).  Managers should encourage players to wear cups at practice as well.
  • All catchers must wear chest protectors, mask with dangling throat guard, shin guards and catchers helmet.  Al of which must meet Little League standards.
  • Players may not wear jewerly of any kind during practices and games, with the exception being medical alert items.
  • Catchers must use catcher's mitt for games and practices.  No first baseman or field gloves may be used for catchers.
  • Managers will never leave an unattended child at practice or games.
  • No children under the age of fifteen are permitted in the concession stand.
  • Make arrangements to have a cell phone available for any practice or game facilities that do not have a public telephone available.
  • Speed limit is 5mph in the parking lots adjoining the fields.
  • No alcohal or drugs are allowed on the premises of the Little League complex at any time.
  • No medication will be taken at the facility unless administered directly by the child's parent.  This is inclusive of asprin/Tylenol and any other over the counter medicines.
  • No playing in the parking lots at anytime.
  • No smoking at any time within the confines of the Eagle Nest facility.  MWLL complex is a smoke free environment.
  • Observe all posted signs.
  • Players and spectators should be alert at all times for foul balls and errant throws.
  • Use cross walks when crossing roadways.  Always be alert for traffic.
  • No running allowed in the bleachers.
