Tigers Only!

Tigers Hammer Bulldogs

The Memphis Tigers came out swinging on Wednesday in their third and final pool game versus the Batavia Bulldogs from Batavia, IL in the NABF World Series tournament in Southaven by a score of 16-0.

Memphis' Cooper Williams was the winning pitcher by throwing 4 innings of 1-hit baseball to shut down the Bulldogs. Williams amazingly threw only 40 pitches allowing only one baserunner to record the Tigers third straight one hitter in this tournament. Williams also finished with 2 strikeouts and no walks.

The Tigers were lead at the plate by all starters finishing with at least one hit each in accumulating 17 hits in the run rule shortened affair.. The big blows came early from Matt Bolton's lead off double and two batters later Scott Craddick's triple that plated a run to propel the Tigers to a 3-0 first inning lead.

Salem Smith went 3-3 at the plate followed by Matt Bolton's, Michael Halley's, Scott Craddick's and Brandon Wilhelm's 2 hits apiece to aid the Tiger cause. Halley's also recorded the Tigers first inside the park homer of the year as the Tigers finished the Bulldogs off early.

Next up for the Tigers is the the championship bracket play beginning Thursday which will have the Tigers (the #1 overall seed) playing the winner of the #9 & #8 seed bracket game Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

Pool Game 1

Tigers Wallop Dragons

The Memphis Tigers opened the NABF World Series tournament on Monday with a 14-1 run rule shortened victory over the Team Collierville Dragons.

Memphis starter and winning pitcher Robbie Young threw a five inning complete game one hitter with no earned runs allowed to gain the victory. Young also recorded 5 strikeouts in the win.

The Tigers were lead at the plate by John Wesley Ray's, Tyler Lawrence's and Michael Halley's 2-3 performances at the plate. Halley and Lawrence plated 2 rbi's each and Ray added one to pace the Tiger attack.

Pool Game 2& 3

Tigers Thump Gamers

The Memphis Tigers again took care of business Tuesday in their second round of pool play in the NABF World Series tournament in Southaven by thumping the Mid South Gamers Blue by a score of 12-1.

Memphis starter and winning pitcher Daniel Nordwall shut down the Gamers by allowing only an infield single while striking out 8 in his five inning complete game victory.

The Tigers were lead at the plate by John Wesley Ray's and Salem Smith's triples that paced a 10 hit attack and also forced the Gamers into 5 errors.

Tigers Move To 3-0 In Pool Play

The Memphis Tigers once again found themselves down in their second pool game against the Franklin Falcons 2-0 after four innings and once again the calm, cool Tigers roared back and won scoring 2 runs in the fifth and 2 in the sixth to down the Falcons.

Memphis' starter John Wesley Ray picked up the complete game victory allowing only three hits through seven innings of work while striking out two and walking four.

Memphis, meanwhile put together 10 hits to go along with 3 Falcon errors to record their 4 runs. Memphis was lead at the plate by Salem Smith's 3 for 3 performance at the plate and Michael Halley's 2 hits to help pace the Tiger attack. Both Halley and Smith scored a run to help finish off the Falcons.

In Memphis' second game of the day, the Tigers came out with a bang to jump to a 5-0 lead and finish off with a 10-3 victory to move their pool record to 3-0 and ensure themselves in the championship game on Sunday. Memphis banged out 15 hits including Salem Smith's solo homerun to pound the Blue Raiders from Middle Tennessee.

Smith also picked up the win on the mound by throwing 5 innings of 3 hit, 2 earned runs, 4 strikeout pitching to keep the Raiders at bay.

Apparently some much needed rest was the answer for Smith as he also went 4-5 at the plate to collect seven hits on the day as he was able to take a day off from the rigors of football training to concentrate on baseball and return to his earlier form for success.

Pool Game 4

Tigers Rally Again To Complete Perfect Pool Play

The Memphis Tigers once again found themselves down in their fourth pool game against the Twitty City Stars 3-0 after the first inning and once again the calm, cool Tigers roared back and won scoring a single run in the second, 2 in the third to tie it and two more in the 4th to complete the scoring of a 5-3 victory at the Stars homefield.

Memphis starter Brandon Dawson picked up the victory after throwing four innnings before giving away to Tyler Lawrence who recorded the save throwing three scorless innings in relief.

Tyler Lawrence led the Tiger hitting attack with two singles as the Tigers pieced together their seven hits for the win.
